The fact that Mnet told them not to interact when this is literally why most of us were watching is crazy to me🗿that made it so awkward...thankfully btob knows when to break some rules 🤣
Wooyoung "Ateez" Changbin "Stray kids" and Yeonjun "txt" are bffs
They've also said that since filming kingdom ateez and skz have gotten very close and I imagine since they where in mayfly BTOB as well
There are a few reasons for the awkwardness.
One, these groups are competing against each other, not only on Kingdom, but for popularity and sales on the music charts, and awards at major awards shows. So it's only natural that they lean back and assess each other when they first meet.
Two, there are senior idol groups and junior idol groups. The junior ones are supposed to be respectful (not only by industry standards, but by Korean standards) to the seniors. So the juniors get kindof quiet and shy when they mingle.
Three, some of these idols are HUGE fans of some of the other groups / individual idols. So it's a major thrill for them when they meet someone or a group they admire. And they get all shy and embarrassed.
Four, I read that the groups were told to not really interact too much, aside from when they absolutely had to. When they were all there for the first time in that big room, they probably didn't know how to handle it for fear of getting in trouble.
I'm sure there are other reasons, too, but those are the major ones I can think of.
The show would’ve been so much better if they were allowed to interact andddd if it wasn’t a ranking shows, just a bunch of talented groups doing cool performances and having fun
Also the guys from Sf9 are so underrated but their music, talent and entertaining is so good, they’re so funny
And i feel like especially for The Boyz this was so hard, like a year before this they had to go trough Road to Kingdom and worked so hard for all of their performances just to be absolutely discredited by Mnet and have Mnet steal their ideas for MAMA

I also felt sorry for The Boyz, since they had the added pressure of having been there already and done some amazing performances, so now producing even better stages must have been very stressful for them.

I 100% hate MNET But I enjoyed every moment of Kingdom. I watched it for Stray Kids and came away with 2 new groups to Stan! ATEEZ and BTOB.
I mean... people can hate MNET all they want, but they always go back to it during MAMA and other shows like KINGDOM/QUEENDOM. Trust me, I don't like them very much either, but if people are gonna go badmouthing MNET, then stop watching their content? Idk if you guys in the comments are gonna hate on it, then boycott it for real instead of just "saying" you hate it. The hypocrisy in that statement is too much for me idk
@@L0VEST4Y i never had the intention to even watch Kingdom but my friend sent me the video for MIROH that they did and I got hooked. After Kingdom ended I haven't gone back and watched anything on MNET since. I've never watched a MAMA video either.

@@L0VEST4Y this is honestly like saying if you don't like JYPE don't support their groups... It's extremely hard not to watch content from Mnet when guess what so much content is created from mnet. Stray kids themselves have quite a bit of mnet content (kingdom week, finding stray kids). Hell the only reality show got7 did was on mnet, and there was no way i was missing watching that. It's not realistic. People can still not like a company yet watch the content because it supports the groups they stan.
@@TheNightxSky Hating an entertainment company which your fave is signed to vs. hating MNET that is an independent music broadcaster that has NOTHING to do with your faves, is totally different. You choose to support artists not companies; moreover, while not all companies are “good” to their artists, they’re all technically on the same side, wherein they want to increase profit on multiple accounts and increase popularity. Discussions of treatment and individual artist salary is none of our business tbh. And although people say they “hate” companies, I cant find a legitimate reason for it. Even with JYPE, it’s not the company’s fault of an artist is not treated well. It is the fault of the Division that the artist is assigned to. For example stray kids is treated very well in Division 1 now. But Twice could he treated better and that’s Div 3’s fault for not taking care of them properly. With fan petitions, mail and formal talks tho, this can be resolved and handled based on the artist’s preference. It’s not easy but AGAIN, they’re somewhat on the same side, where it’s one group against all other groups of all other companies.
HOWEVER, with MNET which is south korean music channel, which doesn’t owe ANYTHING to your fave, you can CHOOSE not to be part of various things they do. If you don’t like MAMA voting systems and programs like KINGDOM / QUEENDOM, don’t tune in? There won’t BE a change unless you stop streaming and giving them that power. And well, if you say that there is so many “content” they have that you cant miss, aren’t you only reinforcing my point? The only reason why MNET has so much content is because of fan demand. If there was no demand for MNET, there wouldn’t be content in MNET. But the truth is, people LIKE their content, but still b*tch about it. Like???? Great, enjoy their shows dude. Stop badmouthing them if you’re gonna enjoy their shows tho, cuz they don’t owe your artists anything. They evil edit to increase viewers ratings (which ALWAYS happens btw), and they do these completions because people like it. But just because everyone wants to be the “nice” person, they always say that Mnet is bad. Like- uh 🙄 that’s so hypocritical and i’m sick of it? I don’t like MNET very much either, but they’re just doing their job
After Kingdom, you should consider watching Queendom 2! The show just started, and the lineup consists of Hyolyn (soloist, most seniority debuted 2010), Brave Girls (debuted 2016), WJSN (debuted 2016), Loona (debuted 2018), VIVIZ (debuted 2022 but the members were in a disbanded group GFRIEND), and Kep1er (debuted 2022, rookies and youngest of the show).
I just rewatched Kingdom and I forgot how amazing it is! This was the show that got me into my second favorite group after BTS (obvi) my boys of SF9 omfg their lyrics and rap are so good love them 🥰
The same happened to me, but with Ateez! I've been an Army for so long and I've never met a group I wanted to get as invested in as BTS, but then that Kingdom's "Wonderland" performance happened and here I am now, ready to attend both Ateez's concerts in Madrid. xD

yeah the mnet hate, we know it too well. There is a rumor that they threaten 3 of the kingdom groups to join their show, and that if they refused themselves and the other groups under their company won't be able to promote on mnet. Weirdly enough those same 3 groups weren't made aware of the change of budget during the 1st round.
Where did you read this? Or is there an official statement of sorts??? I am asking because I am genuinely curious. If that's true, then they are viable for suing. But, if you are gonna say PANN or some other shady site, I'm gonna throw hands
@@L0VEST4Y for the budget mnet confirmed it. For the threat there is no official statement. The rumor first started when it was disclosed that those 3 groups were joining the show because those 3 refused couple times to join until suddenly they all accepted and at the same time Monsta X declined the offer to join. The show start and the rumor die down. But then during the show a group under Starship (Monsta X’s company) was supposed to promote on mnet but it was canceled. The rumor came back. And for a year no groups from Statship promoted on mnet, even though before that they used to promote there all the time. But since it was announced that WJSN would be joining Queendom 2, artists under starship started promoting again on mnet. So nothing’s official but with all the elements we have and mnet’s past history I would ne be surprised for it to be true

About what you said though… considering that ALL of this is business - idols go on Mnet so they can increase their viewer ratings, and Mnet allows idols consequently to promote themselves to these viewers - i don’t think it’s as evil? They’re in a money related relationship here, and although all idols need to be treated well, if a large organization like Mnet does not receive what it wants, it has the right to cut off the artist. They don’t “owe” anything to these companies. It’s like what happened with TXT in MAMA last year, because BTS didn’t come, which SUCKS, but I get it because tbh Mnet wouldn’t care for a group or company that do not reciprocate in kind. It’s a sad reality but that’s just how it works. It’s a symbiotic business relationship only.
BUT!!!! I DO THINK mnet should have told the groups about the budget change. Considering this is a competition, all groups should have had the same budget all around. That’s something that the companies can definitely sue Mnet for, because the budget and “fancy-ness” of a stage definitely contributes to wins…

This show was great but I hated how the toxic stans of other groups treated Ateez. They turned in pound for pound the best performances for me but fans shitted on them the entire duration of the show and it left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Thankfully, I'm past all of that now and can just go back and watch and genuinely enjoy the stages. But the bad behavior of some stans almost completely ruined it for me.
i just felt so bad for ateez the whole show, i can't even get myself to rewatch kd. it was hell.

love kingdom stages, but hate the damn show 😭 like the voting app crashes and while I'm glad it isnt as brutal as queendom (legit lets the competitors say who did worse or better than them), it exploits the tears and dramatize everything

I totally get that, the problem is that so much content and so many shows are secretly owned by Mnet, it is possible but definitely a lot of work and only has impact if everyone does it….but Koreans alone could probably keep Mnet alive
