I was born into a family who loved country music and Willie was one of my favorites. My moms side of the family played in their own country, family band when they were growing up. Mom said it was mostly barn dances and such. Her whole family was so talented and my dad had a great voice and sang in the Navy glee club. Yours truly can’t sing a note. What's so hard in life is accepting that the people we love will die! When you grow up with these people they become distant family and you cant help but shed a tear !! Cash was the hardest for me! I grew up on his music . my mom her brothers and my grandparents would play cards all weekend and get drunk and I was the DJ at 4 and played anyone who was country back in 1961 ! I really miss those days cause not 1 of them is alive today ! If only I had a Delorean !!! Lol

I saw him in concert back in 2005 at The Tabernacle in Atlanta and it is a pretty intimate venue. It used to be a church and the only seating was in the balcony around the top and the bottom the pews were taken out so it was the stage and an empty room and the earlier you got there the closer to the stage you got and we got there early and was just 5 or 6’ away from him. It was an amazing experience. I also saw him as a surprise guest appearance at The Grand Ole Opry in 2001

He was walking off and I stopped him and said I have this cowboy poetry called "Strands of Rawhide" I want you to read. He had a way of saying "Thank you " that was at once profound and sincere. I wore out many many Willie CD's, I run several music groups. But when Willie brought politics into his show, by doing a free concert for BETO, I threw all his crap in the garbage. I don't wish him any bad luck, but I damn sure don't support him. He should have left politics out of his music.

We lost Charley Pride to COVID-19 in 2020. Then Mac Davis to complications from surgery. I was not ready either to pass. Glad Willie survived.
