Research cisco networking to learn how a network works, if you learn command prompt or Linux shell, at school; be good at it and try to do everything that is possible via the CLI rather than the GUI, pick a programming language. (PS You don't need to know programming in order to learn ethical hacking but it will give you an edge over other if you put extra effort in learning one and understanding different tools and technologies).
