You're telling me that the devs gave their brand new character a unique super form of her own and then proceeded to not incorporate it into the final fight against another super dragon.
Really.
Good. Trip sucks.
@@Flamesof24 Not my point.
@@Flamesof24 Said nobody
@@Flamesof24 Trip is awesome!
@@botmaster9000- Trip is a good character with plenty of potential for a return. It’s just that the developers gave her Story the Hard Mode treatment and gave her an incredibly frustrating final boss
I got killed by a black hole off-screen as the second phase cutscene was playing, which is very fair and balanced.
Overall I think the game reliance on intant-death attacks in late game bosses is cheap. Instant death attack should be singular and scary, not casually spammed in bosses that make you wait a lot, have multiple phase and can last 6 minutes.
you can boost when you are trapped in a black hole to save yourself. however, this doesn’t justify the shitty rgn that this fight has.
@@Tozito911 yeah I know you can escape the black hole, the problem is that it happened during the phase 2 cutscene
I got the cutscene and it cut back to the begining of phase 1 instead of phase 2, which I can only assume happened because I got kill off-screen.
i love how knuckles and tails come out at the WORST times . I'm waiting for them to show up and as soon as they do NOW the bosss will pull me in to attack it
It's worse on the second phease,in my case they always appeared when the boss changes the camera perspective and deletes all the rings on the screen,so i was always with 15-10 rings max
I just finished finally beating this boss, and yeah the same thing constantly kept happening to me tails or knuckles mostly tails kept showing up just as the dragon was pulling me into the vortex or fire ball attack.
That was easily my biggest problem with phase 2
Aside from Tails and Knuckles "helping" me at bad times, this boss was a cakewalk compared to Robotnik and Fang - only took me like 5 or 6 tries
It sucks how your time limit is largely dependent on how many rings you just happen to come across while flying around. Mania's true final boss was cool, but the rings' availability being completely random was the worst part of it. I came to see if there was any tricks I was missing for this boss, but no, it's gonna be up to RNGsus I guess.
You’re supposed to touch tails/knuckles to get a ring boost, on top of the trail they leave behind. For whatever reason, the uploader didn’t do that the whole time
@@bluerious5475how do you touch them?
@@Tozito911 Just touch the character, then you get the bonus rings
@@bluerious5475 oh. i thought it would be more complicated.
At least mania had a consistent rule of rings spawn when eggmans up
So what's the buildup for this dragon thing? The only thing I can see is the cutscene of Eggman drawing a crude picture of a dragon, and even then that doesn't tell us anything about what the heck this dragon is supposed to be, where it came from, what Eggman is trying to do with it, what caused it to appear, how it relates to the game's events prior, or anything. Honestly, this seems like a big Giant Space Flea from nowhere moment.
Did you notice the end in the cutscene after defeating nack in trips story?
@@kgmc29 no
I know man just some random super dragon no one cares or gives a shit about
Compare this to the secret final boss in Sonic 3 & knuckles chasing eggman through space for the master emerald
The crappy picture is enough buildup 🤣🤣
@@kgmc29 You mean right after the boss, or after the exhaustingly long credits? Either way, 1 or 2 pictures isn't enough of a proper buildup (for me, at least). It needs to be woven into the story in a way that if you pay attention to background details, you can see a looming threat, whether you know what it is or not.
I like the idea, the music and the setting, but the build up could've been better. Have the zones in the game start to have natural disasters in them, like the tornado in sky temple or the earthquake in frozen base mean that the dragon was trying to tear it's way out of whatever it was imprisoned in.
Also, they could've shown this with the purple haze in trip's story mode but they didn't.
Yeah, I agree - environmental storytelling would have been great
God, it's like playing a water stage where the bubbles deliberately only spawn when the counter reaches 1.
The biggest letdown is NO KNUCKLES in ending cutscene?? I feel even more horrible I played him the least in my run, Knuckles we love you! 😢❤
Don’t worry he is protecting the master emerald
There’s a cutscene showing that they dropped him off at Angel Island
Knuckles ending shows him being dropped off at Angel Island so he can resume guarding the Master Emerald, so canonically despite him showing up during this boss fight to give Sonic rings he isn't actually there participating in the battle, he's just guarding the Master Emerald during the whole thing. Hence why Knuckles isn't in this ending.
Kinda sucks (and also strange) that you can ONLY fight this boss as Super Sonic - not even as Super Trip or both together. Considering you're required to get all of the Emeralds as Trip to unlock this boss, you'd think Super Trip would actually be used in a fight for an awesome dragon duel - but nope, just Super Sonic again.
Such a waste will be awesome see a super form duo last we see that is was im adventure 2 with super sonic and super shadow sonic 06 don’t count because is a trio and it’s terrible will be good see super sonic and super trip fighting together

@@jaquejoybabythe last time we saw a super duo was in sonic unleashed
@@dymaz_azure a super form and a mech ?no
This might be the worst Super Sonic boss I've ever fought.
From my experience, Super Sonic bosses are supposed to be a race. There's almost never a point during one where you're explicitly not able/allowed to attack the boss. The only thing between you and it are its attacks and other obstacles, and it's up to you to figure out how to get around them and reach the boss before you run out of rings.
This boss excels at explicitly wasting your time. Half the fight he's hanging out in the background where you can't reach him, and when you finally do have a chance to attack him, you can only get one hit on him before he runs away out of reach again. On top of that, his black hole attacks are an instant kill if you don't dash out of them, but dashing costs 5 rings. With ring drops being complete RNG, spending that 5 rings to escape could mean running out later down the line. And when you do dash out of a black hole, you might get sucked into another one. I've had anywhere between 30 and 70 rings going into the 2nd phase, and I wasn't doing anything differently between my runs.
This is the antithesis of a Super Sonic boss fight. There's no way to speed it up, no tricks to get cheeky hits in, just 7 minutes straight of worrying about your ring count and praying one of your buddies will show up in time to give you a boost. Your standard Super Sonic final boss can be beaten in, like, a minute to three minutes if you know what you're doing. The fact that this fight requires 6-7 minutes minimum to beat should be all the explanation you need.
Ok but by that logic then Mania's Super Sonic fight was lame too.... and it wasn't.
@@sergiomonty What? You can beat Egg Reverie in like 2 or 3 minutes, and you're not waiting around for Eggman or Heavy King to finally decide when you can attack them. Sure, dashing cost rings, but rings were never in such short supply in Egg Reverie, and there was never a moment where you NEEDED to dash in order to not die.
Egg Reverie doesn't actively waste your time. This fight does.
Yep, it's pretty much structured like Fang's annoying final boss fight.
Yeah that's exactly how I felt too.
A lot of bosses in game waste your time in fact, which makes it even more frustrating with the stories final boss making you wait around to attack only to hit you with an instant-death move, which they throw in spades.
Not that I prefer this fight to any of the previous ones but this one is trying to clearly be different and actually be challenging. Makes you manage your rings more and wastes your time so your rings can be depleted. Not supposed to be a cinematic boss, it's about the actual fight
Seriously, it was a wasted opportunity to not include Super Trip in the fight. How awesome would it have been to have both Super Trip and Super Sonic fighting this dragon? Maybe they pull off some Chaos attacks (whether ones introduced in this game or new ones like Trip firing a beam of energy)?
How about instead of whining here, how about contacting Sega annd giving them ACTUAL feedback like how we got an EXCELLENT boss in Final Horizon.
@@bloglazer9410 I'm not even whining and I'm just voicing my opinion. Your rude comment was uncalled for.

I like this boss, but it could have been much better. I think that the developers should have given us at least 100 rings at the start, and make it so that Tails and Knuckles appear more frequently.
I have Amy also for rings
The dragon looks like a Balan Wonderworld boss. That’s how you know it’s an Arzest game.

@@GreenMask-XRGM-27 If a Sonic game can have a dragon, it can also have the farmer!
Maybe it's because it's designed by the same guy?
i would bet this final boss wasn't even qa'ed during development, holy crap what a frustrating one, the NRG is terrible and you basically depend on luck when damaging him, because you can't see the obstacles coming, so you either get instakilled or waste all your rings at once when dashing
You can predict them he just follows you when he shoots stuff
Out of all the final bosses in the classic sonic series I had the most fun with this final boss. But it didn’t take me too long to beat. It only took me a few tries and it was very much better than the first two final bosses of this game and I’m probably one of a few people to actually put this final boss above the rest of the classic sonic final bosses. You’re probably asking me why. Because I love the music for it and it was very challenging for me and the finishing move was cool to watch in my opinion. I got used to the timing the second try.
For the love of Christ these last few bosses are ridiculous. They take an age to beat and if you die you start the entire thing again.
Plus this last boss is too rng based for my liking 🤦🏼♂️

Is it sad that Eggman doesn't appear in the trip story or the true final boss, or did he become depressed after his defeat, unlike in mania?
No, They just went with the sonic 3 and knuckles approach and have EggRobo do the work as being a boss character!
Fang is the final boss of Trip’s Story.

Finally beaten this and i gotta say this final boss was annoying to beat it sucks we didnt get to play as super trip and only super sonic need an amazing duo once again to face of an evil foe. Hope in the next classic sonic game they include trip cause i really like her character and also i realized it to no knuckles in this final scene hope hes back in angel island guarding the master emerald like hes suppose too. now thanks for helping out in the final boss knuckles.
When compared to Perfect Chaos or Dark Gaia, that thing seems as threatening as Barney the Dinosaur 🙄
Chaos and Gaia are incredibly easy to beat, this thing is not.
This is a classic sonic game after all

@@Flamesof24he meant by design stand point, dark Gaia and perfect chaos actually are threatening based on how they’ve impacted the world and characters + their designs actually makes them a threat…this dragon from super stars just looks goofy and a last second insert
I expected sonic and trip work together and transform into super form to defeat the monster
Thank you! Was confused on how to consistently deal damage to the hands
Is that hard for sega to give context/lore of this dragon?
Bro this final boss is mad annoying, completely RNG and even if one of the characters stop by and bring you rings, sometimes the game fucks you over anyways by switching cameras and that means you can't grab no more rings the character dropped. Plus this boss just wastes your time so much and it doesn't help boosting makes you lose rings even though it's required to attack him. 😤
Lame final boss and awkward story aside, I wonder if all the dragon stuff in this game is a reference to the Sonic 3 concept art where Sonic was supposed to fight a dragon in Doomsday Zone instead of eggman.
I mean its ok final boss, Eggman has a giant mrch as well
Where can I find that concept art???
@@cosmicspacething3474 There's a whole thread about it on the Sonic retro forums; an old promo video from 94' shows a ton of concept art from Sonic 1-3 that's never been shown anywhere else. One of them is Super Sonic fighting a Dragon in space instead of Eggman at the end of S3K. I believe the mural in the Knuckle's bossfight room was also supposed to show a dragon in the prophecy instead of Eggman.
@@skunthundler no idea what the Sonic retro forms are

Compared to some of the other bosses (especially the last one in Trip’s story), this one felt like a breeze. Still hard, but I really enjoyed it.
I like the dragon idea but I find it stupid that according to sources, that you can only fight this boss as Supersonic. If you ever played Sonic Rush and/or Sonic Rush Adventures, even Blaze got into the action with the final boss and it was a Sonic and Blaze team up against Eggman and Eggman Nega! Why Trip couldn't be involved in this battle is beyond me. Also, for the most part, why does the majority of final boss battles in sonic only involve male characters?
Because sonic is the main character ??
@@yazcona13 explain why in some of the final boss fights like in sonic adventure 2 battle, sonic rush and sonic rush adventure (last two especially, why other characters except sonic were involved in the fray? I think that could have been added in here aswell for Trip and that other new characters at the time had that privilege. Even in Sonic 06, Silver was part of the trio that took down Solaris). There is also possible gender issues here but that will be a Pandoras box to deal with.
Simple answer: the game's development was rushed
@@jorgeasalas No, simpler answer, a Classic Sonic after the mediocre recycling that was Mania, therefore no better stories or final bosses for Classic Sonic. That's why the final boss appears out of nowhere like in Mania and is only played with Super Sonic, trying to replicate the mediocre true final boss of that game. Well, at least this time they bothered to make the boss more entertaining instead of being as mediocre as the true final boss of Mania. But it's a shame they don't use the Rush games as an example for an epic true final boss.

A dragon boss appears out of nowhere, no explanation, longer cutscenes or whatsoever. The dragon also reminds me of Bloody August. The boss is also hard, not as hard as Fang's boss though. This boss idea feels rushed, I wonder if a lot of the context was cut in the final release.

Ridiculous difficulty and lack of checkpoints just for the sake of ‘fake difficulty’ isn’t good game design.

Just killed this boss and discovered a few tips. When knuckles or tails come in, make sure to fly overtop of them and they'll give you more rings (either 5 or 10, can't remember). Okay if they wanted to inculde super Sonic, then maybe let super Sonic be beaten by the dark dragon being too strong, before leading into a double dragon showdown with super tirp versus the dark dragon, showing super Sonic isn’t as strong as he is in the modern era as sonic hasn’t mastered it yet.

I’m sorry but these bosses are not fun. It took me a day just to beat the death egg robot and two weeks to beat fang and this one just feels unfair. What were they thinking… mania’s final boss was difficult but fair and I hate to compare them because I want to give games a chance
Starfall Evil Dragon...
This boss battle is so pointless. After I beat the main story I wondered where the super sonic fight was and this was a letdown. First of all, I looked everywhere and I couldn’t find any context about this dragon. The only thing I found was in an OFFICIAL sonic animation, and even that didn’t get me far (in case you are wondering what the animation is it’s titled, “Sonic Superstars: Trio of Trouble”). Secondly, the first phase is a time waster. His meteor attack is very hard to dodge. I instantly picked up that you can attack the blue meteors back but even those are hard to get to with all the red meteors. Also, his vine attack is just pointless. And the instant kill black holes are something I would expect in his second phase (To be fair I didn’t know he had a second phase), and if you get sucked in you have to dash out or you die and dashing costs TEN RINGS. I barely even have 30 rings because for some reason all the rings decided to go on vacation. It’s mainly up to Tails, Knuckles, and Amy to get you rings (Note, Amy gives ring monitors and she gives a lot, however she is VERY rare to come across, and no this is not clickbait I actually found Amy in this fight and I still lost). Third, his second phase is slightly better, just barely because he now has a fire attack instead of a black hole attack. However I didn’t know that you could attack his hands but even when I did learn that I couldn’t do it frequently. Also, his weird blue energy attack had me feeling like the battle went into slow motion which really messed me up. Finally, his last phase I got to once, but I died because I was only at 1 ring when I completed the second phase and you know about the awful ring frequency. Egg Reverie was just better, there was better ring frequency, the phantom king and eggman were very attackable, and the ending actually teased sonic forces (which in my opinion, wasn’t as bad as people say it was I actually liked forces). This battle was just the opposite of Egg Reverie and I hated it. I liked cassic sonic being pixelated anyway. They should’ve used sonic, tails, knuckles, and eggman’s sprites from mania and made new sprites for amy, fang, and trip. This boss looks like something straight out of a modern sonic game. (Also, not on topic, in a part of the music I always hear heavy lobster’s theme from Kirby super star ultra). All in all, this fight is overall stupid. I would’ve preferred Egg Reverie again. You also can’t use the emerald powers for obvious reasons. Heck, I would’ve preferred sonic mania 2 over this entire game. I would’ve also preferred sonic mania with Amy playable and it being sold as its own game.
the second lock on doesn't appier in my fights i had reach 6 times that part and nothing happens after i hit the first one....switch version. does anybody know if this is s glitch

I hate the bossfights of this game, they are long, sometimes are very hard and u need to restart from the beginning (and in the most cases the boss battles have more that 1 part)
Awesome
I think this was the most random boss battle that I've ever seen.
Who is this dragon and exactly where did he came from?
According to wiki eggman wanted this dragon to conquer the world and blah blah blah basically unleashed again without bothering to explain the thing
For real to get this you defeat eggman then beat trip story and then random cutscene of this dragon without any previus scene or explanation at all
@@save_zawarudo And that's exactly why I said that this is the most random boss battle I've ever seen cause there isn't any in-game explanation for the appearance of this dragon, I watched the animations from Sonic's official youtube channel and knew that Eggman was after something but still we don't see any kind of hint that this dragon was going to appear.
You finish the Story Mode, you finish Trip's story and then the Last Story appears, you select it and out of nowhere comes this dragon, it just doesn't make any sense.
Ok I’ll admit the final boss for this game isn’t great but come on the soundtrack for it carries it
Nah, the soundtrack is pretty wank too.
@@cockshield I don't know what your talking about but hey your opinion
This sounds like someone asked AI to make a final boss track
@@NaOkiiLook up "Yiik final boss theme" and you'll take that back

Anyone know the lore behind the dark dragon?
from 17th october they probably will reveal his name and all, but judging by the fact that you only unlock this boss after unlocking the 7 Chaos Emeralds in Trip's story, he's for Trip like how Metal Sonic is for Sonic or Black Doom is for Shadow: A fierce archnemesis and a natural rival.
This thing has been foreshadowed since, I kid you not, Sonic 3. Within the Japanese Manual, Knuckles mistakes the Death Egg for the Egg of a Dragon that will bring ruin. Knowing Oshima, this is likely that same dragon. This fight has been over 30 years in the making.
@@shinzankuroso it's pointless to get all Emeralds in the Main Story?
@@YTSirBlackyesnt
@@YTSirBlack I think you need to collect all emeralds on the main story and Trip's story to unlock this boss
Dragon a final boss ....
This boss battle is incredible and awesome I love this games so much I give it a 10/10
What tf are you on?
I wouldn't rate it a 10/10, maybe like a 7.5/10 IMO
the last 2 boss fight really ruined this game for me, i dont mind the dificulty but my god theyvare BORING at least put a check point for the diferent phases of the boss.
How come nobody is talking about that this is the 12th (Hidden) Zone.
This boss is the true Time Eater because of how much time it waist
Who the hell is this dragon? Dark Gaia?
This feels like a Touhou fight in the worst possible way.
how tf wait this shit out already?
No. It hit store shelfes too early
I DESPISE THIS GODAMN BOSS
This Boss fight is more unfairly, hard, then the fight with Fang 😡 I literally swear 🤬every failed attempt to fight it even when I’m so close honestly, the boss fights in this game sucks mostly the really difficult fights
Where did the dragon come from?
Man the bosses on this game suck, they take waaaaaay too long to defeat
Better than dying in 1,5 seconds but I think it should be a mix of both
here i was thing "oh a super sonic boss theyare just usually spectacle not really too hard. a nice easy ending after that hell of a boss" and nope game does NOT pull punches
Who let this out of place mf in the sonic franchise
You say that is if we haven't already had bizarre monsters of the week running amok in Sonic already
You say it as if there were never strange monsters in the franchise xd
@@doncrix838 Yeah the Black Arms were problemly the most out of world looking monsters we had in Sonic, than you have Chaos, Iblis and the Fire monsters in 06, plus Mephiles who's a devil (named after Mephisto, the jewish devil), the Zeti are like cartoony Oni creatures, the Eldritch Dark Gaia and it's minions, and of course the Ancients Robots which look like some Evangelion type shit.
Sonic universe is crazy
@@dantemustdie00 Bizarre monsters don't belong in Classic Sonic. There's virtually no point in bringing Classic Sonic back to have him do Modern Sonics work. They should both stay in their lanes.
@@dantemustdie00 i mean i guess but it's new for classic sonic
I have never been more disappointed about a release than Sonic Superstars. I’ve just finished this dragon boss and this entire game zone 7 onwards is just a slog of a game lacking any sense of fun.
Any idea why my homing attack on the meteors isn't working ? Or is it just janky?
@@sonicgem14 I have the same issue, figured it out?
@NaOkii yes I was accidentally buffering the input holding X too long what u need to do is tap and fully release the button as the the reticle highlights blue make sure your not mashing or holding the attack button each press
thank you so much@@sonicgem14

I will say even though the boss is pretty badly executed with it depending on ring RNG and making you use 5 rings just to do a dash it was still so damn rewarding when you finally beat it. I think this might be one of my favorite Super Sonic boss fights yet. It's long instead of being way too short like Super Sonic bosses usually are and it was really hard even going as to say that it might be the hardest any Official Sonic game has gone yet even if not all of the difficulty was earned and was just a product of bad game design. I think the ideas here were good but like Superstars itself the execution just wasn't there. The story behind the boss was also way too vague but even so it was a very epic fight that got my adrenaline pumping.
Also I've seen people talk about why Trip was not included and I didn't even think about that but now I think it's absolute waste of potential that they didn't have Trip in her Dragon form fight alongside Sonic lol.
I've been told Amy and Trip do come in on the giant Flicky and give you ring boxes but it's super rare.
