This is one of the most modern and high-tech factories I've seen in India (or surrounding countries) with very strict safety precautions on clothing and surroundings. Everywhere is so clean, and the machinery is extremely well maintained with the strongest string and rags holding it together.
I felt fear during the knife sharpening scene. I can foresee serious accidents due to familiarity. Because poverty makes it difficult to receive satisfactory treatment, I hope that more attention will be paid to safety.

I understand that it is cultural to squat, work off floors, and have child labor; why do they not do clean up of their workplace? I spent years in construction in the US and work housekeeping was mandatory. It's the least they could do to make these incredibly dangerous workspaces at least a little safer. Do men just Never clean up after themselves? It makes me wonder if separation of duties based on gender is so ingrained they can't clean up even their factories?
Unfortunately these guys do not care about quality of their veneer. Bad treatment.. This veneer seems very thin , with holes, splinters, tears. They fold it easily across the fibre.
