One other thing folks can do to cut their time in half, if they haven't completed all reputation grinds, is do a space mission on your ship and use the reputation token from the cockpit mission board reward. On Empire-side, there is one mission that only requires doing 'Jabiim Escort'. Doing the space mission itself gives a little conquest (and a bonus mission opportunity) but with full stronghold bonuses, using a reputation item gives about 46,000 points for a 3 to 5-minute mission. Currently, it gets you the full 50k, but after 7.0, it'll still get you halfway in only a couple minutes. Just make sure you pick up the mission labelled 'operation: Silent Roar' from your cockpit missions BEFORE starting the space mission. This also works for anything else with a rep grind, though mission times vary by activity.

tacticals have nothing to do with conquest. This most certainly does still work.
why not have your companion set to DPS?
I think something with the way conquest is earned must have changed, because I ran through these same missions and only wound up with around 60k
