This track is now also available on bandcamp on the new "dark cities" release, I would love to get your support!
Gosh, your older clips with very little gear show how much talent you have in making great music with very few devices. On your current setup you're absolutely flying. Fantastic.
It's quite awesome to come back to something you missed and realise how superb it is. Different style, but reminds me of the epic Orb tracks I used to listen to back in the day.
Nathaniel Pike thanks a lot man. Glad you like and appreciate the structures... its integral to the way i jam-up the sessions so to speak :) cheers, and thanks for listening!
Love it! Your camera work is putting us right into the lens and looking over your shoulder. Lot's of Gus Gus sort of flavors on this track - I really dig it.
Really fantastic ... Best I have heard in a long time.. I have been a follower of Electronic Music since the very early beginning of Moog. But you really show how to make the Music have a Life... a Living feeling. Keep up the fantastic warmth in your Music.. :)
Superb mate ..respect from Glasgow .I've worked my way through most of your mixes and its been a pleasure mate.I mostly work in ableton now but the last 2 month I've picked up a couple of volcas beats and bass and love them .watching your sessions have made me think more about integrating more hardware into my sound. :)
71 collective thanks a lot mate! :) for me hardware was they way back into making music being inside the box for some time.. so its a great way forward. Cheers!
Just lovely. Nice to hear something with a bit more oomph coming from you. I like the energy. Interesting to hear the mixture of dub, trance and Berlin school elements come together.
Matt Greer thanks a lot.. yeah, tracks and style changes a bit i guess.. not really planning that much just making things up as i go along :) cheers and thanks for listening!
Out of mind! Complex and with a groove by olli!!! I'd like to see your own session? As you prepare? How are they connected the synth? I need a tutorial. Good Boy! Fuori di testa! Complesso e con un groove by olli!!! Mi piacerebbe vedere una tua sessione? Come la prepari? Come sono collegati i synth? Avrei bisogno di un tutorial. Bravo!
Woahhhhhh!!!! that light show is getting better and better brother! Amazing music as always... Can you tell us a little about your chain of ins and outs for syncing everything?
sunil solanki thanks a lot, really appreciated ! :D Its a very simple setup, TR-8 is midi master clock, and i use a small thru box to spread the signal to the elektron, system-1, microbrute and the very first volca bass - then i use sync pulse from the first volca bass to the other volcas and SQ1.. so i can start/stop them on the fly to create poly rhytms - cheers!
Terrific track man, nice ambience / mix, can totally understand getting carried away with lengthy recordings, once your in the zone, hours can go by........cheers for sharing
This has a similar awesome vibe to some of speedy j's oldschool stuff. Some tracks off his gspot album and also his fusion live 12" ep :) Real journey music!.. Long builds and rolling basslines.. Proper techno. Amazing stuff
@ollilaboratories is it possible that you do some sort of studio tour of gear and explain how you set things up...I woud like to lear a bit more about livelooping
Great work and video! Love it! Listen to it over and over again.Thank you also for the details and the explanation which tools you use :)) Great 2 chords /notes in 1:00 to 1:01. Which instrument, tool you use, please? This give the whole song the character :))
Thank you for the fast answer :) I looked in yt some videos, not bad, but I think he´s to expensive, didn´t have keys and the display and the plastic knobs looks cheap. But he´s got an sequencer, which is good. I think DSI pro2 is better choice, but of course, thanks to the cheap euro, yet also to expensive right now. Do you have some experience with the PRO 2? What do you think, can I develop the sound also in my prophet 12? cheers :))
RENAISSANCE of RA The elektrons buttons and knobs are actually very high quality and i think they will last for a long time. Even if they look cheap, i can say they are not :) I have no experience with the pro2 nor pro12, so cannot compare them unfortunately. cheers
RENAISSANCE of RA I had the Pro-one for many years back in the day, and also the Evolver. Also played the prophet 5 and p08 extensively, they are great synths.
billytruant thanks a lot!! :) For the kaoss pad i just load using the SD card... lets say if i do a track in 126bpm, i find a sample, pre-process it in the computer and stretch it to fit within the 4 bars the KP3 allows. Then set the kp3 to 126bpm and i have a perfect sample to loop with the music ... i try to avoid beatsamples though as the kp3 cannot trigger start point iirc, so just vocals and amibence. cheers!
Great tune as usual..fantastic sound...how you getting on with the microbrute and how do you rate it against the system 1. Just got the elektron keys and it sounds great but a little complicated to use but will get the hang of it.
adey7569 Thanks a lot!! I´d say that the system-1 and microbrute are two completely different beasts.. if i would have to pick one, that would be really hard because they complement each other. I might choose the system-1, due to it having a broader sound palette... however im in love with the semi-modular microbrute, the evil filter and the small step sequencer. tough call.. i cant really make that decision - elektrons take time to dig into, its worth the effort though, keep digging.
+trendscout375 thanks! i always post a gearlist in the video description, cheers! Instruments: KORG ms-20, SQ-1, Arturia Microbrute, Roland Aira System-1, TR-8, Elektron Analog Four, KORG volca bass x 2, volca keys, volca sample - FYI, my microgranny sd micro card got bust!?? so no bastl on this one.. need to get a new one. :-/ FX: KORG kaoss pad, strymon timeline, solid gold FX electroman, surfrider, Zoom G3, mooer re-echo, Jomox t-resonator Lights: Cheap ebay party laser, plus RGB LED strips Cameras: Panasonic Lumix u4/3 GX7, GF5 and GF6
ollilaboratories: How do you add sq-1 in the mix, seeing as it only has midi in (and cv of course), is it midi master? How do the whole of internet record video and sync that up with the master record of sound (assuming you do sound recording separately)?
The SQ1 gets it clock from one of the volca via sync pulse. Syncing video with audio is done with simple video clapper technique (visual and audio) in the start of each recording. cheers !
Hola Olli ! ok no tutor ;)) solo una pregunta: antes de llegar el audio al zoom Q4 , imagino pasa por un mixer, cual utilizas, si eres tan amable. Muchas gracias in advance ! PD: congratulations por tu Spanish !!!
Super boulot, ça sonne ! Je te souhaite le meilleur pour la suite. Avec quelle appareil traite-tu les samples vocaux ? (notamment pour le slicing) Great job ! What is the machine you use to slice the vocal samples please ?
Bluntisgood Thanks! I usually use the bastl microgranny 2.0 for this... but since my SD card broke (i literally cracked it) I had to process the vocal samples in my computer this round and play them in my Kaoss pad.
Great track Ollie. Would u mind to tell me how u sync and connect all gear? I've been trying to figure it out since I discovered ur great channel. Cheers!
+Helios Music simple setup, TR8 master midi clock, spread with a small midi thru box to the other gear.. volcas use the internal pulse sync. cheers and thanks for watching!
Thanks Ollie for your reply! I have, though, another doubt. Are the volcas playing to their own tempo then? And finally, how do you sequence the System-1? I've been watching almost all of your videos and they are really amazing. Great atmosphere and visuals, in your studio and in live performances with audience. Cheers!
monstrous lutes yeah, im really happy with how it looks.. ! - for light FX its a laser/LED thing i bought on ebay for 15USD, a noname unit from china .. probably not the best of quality, still it has not broken yet :D cheers!
Your vibe is absolutely "wow" great, at least. I listen to you channel often, just before jamming myself, this give me positive creation energyI would like to jam with you, one time ;-)
