Since the Exotic Class Items were released, players have complained about how difficult it is to get the roll you're looking for. Some players resorted to automated farming scripts using macros, and now Bungie will be banning anyone who tries to do the same. Is macro'ing healthy for the game? Is it worth banning players over it? Bungie also announced some upcoming changes to acquiring Exotic Class Items, so today we're talking about what those changes are, and if they will impact how players get those elusive rolls they are looking for.

The issue with the "you don't need every class item" is that you cannot determine which combo you get last. if you want a HoIL Syntho combo, and that happens to be the last one in the list that you get, you have no recourse

That's how random drops and grinding work...

Yeah, that's the point and the problem @@kylemccormack1785

I can't even imagine how bad it must feel for people who are farming for these legit. I got 250 warlock bonds before I got apoth/star eater, it was my 2nd to last drop remaining on that character. The other problem is on titan 95% of the drops are useless and you can kind of say the same on warlock. Hunter feels like at least most of the spirit perks are at least usable, but most people still just want caliban.
Duplicates are probably the most frustrating thing here and even though most people like you said only want a couple rolls and dupe protection might not have done much for them, getting duplicates is still by far the worst feeling. We've never received duplicate exotics in the past before attaining all new exotics and we've never had exotics than can't be re-obtained through collections. Not being in collections is a whole other issue we could get into and is a big problem if Bungie really ever does buff the bad spirit perks.

Honestly the grinding in Destiny has been getting too monotonous and length the longer the game goes on, to the point that it's just not worth it anymore. I've been farming Warlords for a collecting 7 and a half months, and I've yet to get Buried Bloodline, and that's with a couple boosters. Getting that one roll for my class item is a chore with how long DD takes, and the perk selector is a good idea, but might be a case of "Too little, too late" like Bungie always does. I don't like being negative, but I don't see a good reason to be excited over these changes as much as I was years ago. I hope I'll be proven wrong and it's actually perfect, but that's what we thought about Final Shape... and it wasn't good enough for the CEOs

For me, it’s been so hard to justify hopping on to grind for items that allow me to grind in a slightly more fun or different way.
