It would be physically impossible for a baby to lose 10 pounds in 7 days. In fact at that point in their life I think it would be incredibly difficult for a baby to lose more than 1-4 pounds without having to be hospitalized. For a baby to do anything but gain weight over time without being severely malnourished is impossible.
But I believe it was an older child, since she said the baby weighed about 30 pounds. So, a weight loss of 2 pounds or so won't be too dangerous. But if some parents will actuallly do that for fame, I feel sorry for their kids...
I used to box for many years myself and I can tell you that excessive weight cutting especially when done on a regular basis is bad for you. It reaks havoc on both the immune systems and your endocrine systems . I'm not disagreeing it can't be done for an adult (in the case of this skit 10 pounds for a baby would be impossible) but it is bad for you.
