But my advice to the students is, to understand these basic rules. But it is not like studying Maths! It is a language! You need to practice day in day out.
LISTEN to the news, movies, speeches and so on. Also, read stories, Fictions, Newses and so on. You will learn the tense constructions he is talking about!
