I'm currently modding with a 6r15 movement in which the dial screws are perpendicular to the dial rather than parallel with it (as they are in this vid). The design here makes more sense to me. Anyone attempting to dive into the insides of a watch, remember it's very very important to have the correct tools---especially the correct slotted screwdriver. That, and a lot of patience.
Your video is a great help! I am replacing an ISA 8171 movement and couldn't figure out how to remove the dial. The screws are not on the side of the movement though, rather next to the pin. And they don't screw out, is that correct? I've tried removing the screws on the new movement but same happens. Do I need to have them in a certain orientation to pull the dial off? Edit: Yes! Indeed the screws have a flat edge.. I've replaced the dial, great success! Your video is the only one I've found that covers this step. Thank you very much....
I have managed to break a screw while trying to attach the dial to the movement and the little piece has left inside, not sure how to proceed from now one. please advice
What if one of the dial feet doesn't line up with the movement, but the other one does and so does the center of the movement? Is cutting and filing that foot a viable option?
I'm experiencing the same problem too and for a first time modder this is incredibly frustrating as I'm already way behind schedule with my build due to my parts arriving late. People have advised me to use GS glue or dial dots, but knowing how clumsy I am, I'm not sure if this is a good way to proceed. I'd appreciate it if anyone could provide some advise regarding the quickest and easiest way to complete the mod. Thank you very much.
I am also interested in building a watch using DG2813 movement. I found parts such as the case, hands and the dial available on aliexpress advertised as compatible with miyota 2815, dg2813 etc. I even found the DG2813 movement on aliexpress. Many parts available. Maybe you should give aliexpress a visit.
A good question. The Series 1 was the first Build Your Own Watch and we did not want to over complicate the Series 1. Our next Build Your Own Watch will have a date window + MORE! Stay tuned, make sure you get the newsletter to see what we have in store. buildyourownwatch.com/newsletters
Thanks for posting the video, it was very helpful!

My movement didn't come with the ring to protect the date wheel being touched by the dial. Is that a thing?

Nice and understandable video! I have two 2813 movements, 1 winds smooth and the other does not, kind rough. Is that fixable?
i guess I'm pretty off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Evan Edwin try Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
I have the Miyota 8215 movement but need the metal spacer ring and the dial fixing screws. Where do I get them?

Where can I buy vintage watch faces
STOP CALLING IT THE DATE WHEEL RING - It's the Dial Spacer Ring. Amazingly over-complicated way of fitting it.
you don't know how to focus
