    There's so much Frank Loyd Wright's LA's hollyhock house and other mezzoamerican inspired elements. The pyramids, and using that pattern in the handle. Absolutely beautiful

    Gorgeous concreting and block work. I love this thoughtful and practical design. Aussie Architects have come a long way since the 80s and more recent repeatative box like rendered McMansions they all seemed to replicate. This whole house is so warm and hardy, not pretentious in any way. Hmm Lovely.🙏💕🇦🇺

    A beautiful complex and artfully executed project. If the architects at EAT have not seen the work of Carlo Scarpa then is it truly an original masterpiece. If they have then the credit to that architect as inspiration is lacking in this interview. For those interested in masterful works of high design in concrete I highly recommend Scarpa's work. Great job nonetheless. Thank you Local Project for your continued coverage of exquisite projects.

    A beautiful example of GOOD contemporary architecture. Because the architectural style is clearly connected to earlier, more complete historical styles (Brutalism and Modernism) the house has a classic, timeless character that will age well with both time and patina. I see elements of the Ennis House in Los Angeles by Frank Lloyd Wright, as well as some of the later Case Study Homes (Also in LA). Contemporary architects could learn a lot from this elegant and refined example. There is really no escaping the architectural maters who created the Modernist movement. Good contemporary architects know this and incorporate those ideas into their own language. That is certainly the case here. A true inspiration!

  • @cmomo02

    How react the neighbours after you build that house?
    Why I'm asking that?
    It's because the structure of the house changes a lot the landscape of the neighbourhood.
    In France, in some area it will be difficult to create that building, the town hall will require to save an homogeneous structure compared to the house already built to not disfigure the whole

    It's a lovely house, like with most of the residences on this channel. But I'm concerned that most of the homes featured extensively use concrete. It is (relatively) inexpensive and durable, but it is far from environmentally friendly.

    • @Eruptflail
      @Eruptflail 3 года назад +1

      You have to balance the longevity of the building against it's environmental impact. If the house will last hundreds of years, then it may be more environmentally friendly than one that lasts just over 100. You don't need to look further than other concrete structures like those in Rome to understand that concrete's durability makes it an incredibly effective construction material, despite it's current environmental impact.
      Concrete is also really safe. You'll know far before any structural failure that it's going to fail. Steel isn't nearly as safe because it corrodes, often invisibly to those who use the infrastructure that it comprises.
      So, concrete isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Though, reinforced concrete is a nightmare and should be avoided at all costs. This place doesn't seem to use that.

    • @JasonPolkovitz
      @JasonPolkovitz 3 года назад

      @@Eruptflail Cool. Thanks for letting me know that. I live in a concrete apartment building and I certainly like the relative soundproofing and fire-safety. I just hear so much about concrete as a real greenhouse gas problem so it's nice to hear some good reasons for its use. I hope these houses DO last a long time.
