- Join me for a dose of REALITY as we have a fantastic morning on MISSISSIPPI public lands! The long, less viewed- and lesser understood days of "work" that put us in the right spots with the right turkey. These days are often glossed over and the highlights make the reel which give that false sense of what's actually REAL. You get it all here on the PINHOTI PROJECT. #pinhotiproject #publicland #turkeyhunting

That’s public turkey hunting. Great video Dave
Great video Dave keep after em
I watched it!! It’s all about learning
“One of those type mornings that makes you question everything that you think you know about turkey hunting” 😂
Watching videos like this not only builds my confidence but teaches me that I'm not just doing everything wrong, failure is part of the game and how one really builds skill.
Here’s hoping these minutes watched increases!! The “turkey statue” is a real phenomena!!!! Lol Take care, can’t wait for ‘24!!
I hate that when other hunters walk around me. No respect. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Dave, others have said it already. But, I greatly appreciate you showing the WHOLE process...including those days that seem to be a bummer. I learn more seeing this video 'unfold' than a quick pitch down and kill. It makes me look at my own experiences with an open mind an learn. Thank you.
These are my favorite to watch. Mainly to study and see how you handle different situations. That way I can use them for my self. So much to learn in videos like this!
Dave...another great video. One of the many things I appreciate about you and the Pinhoti project is your honesty and the willingness to show the struggles of turkey hunting. That's why we all watch ya Brother !! Keep grinding!!
I mean dang man I tried to watch the whole video but when I hit the 4th ad at the 16-18 minute mark I couldn’t take anymore
never fails to pick up something from watching your videos Dave. Even from a turkey hunter of 30 years. especially he mouth calling. thanks so much. Dman
I try to watch them all Dave!! Keep it up! Those of us who hunt public land totally understand.
Love reality, Dave. Thank you
Great video Dave and unfortunately in this day and age this kind of thing happens frequently on public ground. But we just have to deal with it.
great video. a real problem on public.
Great video Mr. Owens!
Dave, I have been there brother! Thanks for giving us worthy content to watch! God Bless
I'm 71 hunted an fished all my life an would agree a little bit we have to teach respect for other hunters an fishers .Everyone get along love the out doors.
Every morning turkey hunting makes me question everything I know about turkey hunting 😢😂
Appreciate the video and sharing reality. Public land can certainly be a challenge. Got on a bird near a roadway the other day and about the time I was setting up on the bird, within 100 yards, here comes a blasted truck. Slows down and drives on. After a few minutes, I call, here comes the dipstick back through. No respect. Road hunting! Don’t call yourself a turkey hunter. Thx for the videos
Awesome video Dave! Can’t always get em for sure but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Thanks for sharing! Always love your videos my friend. ATB, Joe
I watched every minute. I have had my butt whipped many times in the past 49 springs of turkey hunting. My took me the first time when I was 6 years old! I miss the fact he is no longer here to enjoy the sport he loved so much and was so very good at. He was old school and might sit down to a turkey at daylight and stay in one spot until 10 or 11 because he always said if that turkey answered your call that at some point during the day he was going to come looking for that hen and with his success rate it definitely worked for him.
I watched the whole thing Dave. I only skipped through a couple of times while you were calling to him. But for the most part I watched every bit of the video Dave. For what it’s worth. 😂😂
Man I know you don’t get as many views on this these type videos. But I just wanted to let you know I enjoy and have learned so much from them and has helped elevate my hunts and knowledge
Public land turkey hunting all summed up in one video! Love it!
I love to see the process and the struggle. It helps everyone to understand better. Killing is easy, its the hunting that is hard. Thank you.
God bless you are good on that mouth call..........
Go Dawgs!! Chubbs woulda killed that bird with his glass call. 🤣
I like these shows that lead to the next one , as I’ve said , you keep making shows , there are a sack full of us that will watch them , keep em coming !!!!!
Here for the process brother! Love it all. Thank you for doing what you do
Chit man, this was one of my favorites.
First? I got skunked this year in MO. Ran into some guys from Mississippi on public one of them wearing a Pinhoti hat. Keep it up man.
Great video, this exactly how public land hunting goes so much you have to deal with. Turkey’s are a different creature so hard to pattern.
I like watching the process.I appreciate seeing the hunts that don't go as planned. It makes me feel a little better about the struggles I have.
That’s why I watch the Pinhoti Project, I appreciate the work and your efforts. We do it for the challenge not because it’s easy. Been doing it for about 50 years now and you’re top of the heap. That’s why folks are trying to copy you, even got them smoking after they kill one. 😂
Had a similar incident on some public ground, except when they walked up on me they didn’t turn back their tracks. they made a loop around me an busted the gobbler off the limb an then as they were walking back towards the truck they threw their hands up an flicked me off like I was the one that blew him off the limb. All I could do is laugh. 🤣
I like watching, especially the butt whooping. I took one myself this morning. I’ve learned so much from just watching your videos. Thank you for all you share with us and please keep them coming, even the whippings.
The process is real my friend.... great video!
Love the process as much or more than the kill!
It wouldn’t be the Pinhoti Project without these videos right here.. Been getting whooped myself on the last 5 hunts. I don’t know what’s going on with these Rios, but they’re not acting normal for early May. It’s all part of the game though. Keep up the good work.
The process is the best part Dave! Thanks for bringing it to us with your videos.
The grind is a huge part of it and (given how my season has gone) it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. Stay after em!
Got my butt whooped two mornings in a row in the WI Turkey woods at the end of April, then had to get back to work. It’s humbling. But if Turkey hunting was easy, it wouldn’t be so much fun. I love to watch Dave kill them off the roost but I also love his videos like this one. Makes me realize I’m not alone. Keep ‘‘em coming Dave!
It doesn't matter to me, harvest or no harvest. Yes frustration sets in, but we learn from it. Oh yeah.
Oof. I've flashed my headlamp at dudes and had them come up and talk to me. Seriously, that wasn't an invitation brother!!! 🤦♂️
I watched it and loved it, I love all of your content. Your turkey knowledge and calling is unmatched in my opinion. Keep up the good work, and oh by the way, I get my ass kicked in the turkey woods daily!!! Appreciate you and your effort!
i'm into the process. been doin' it for 30 yrs. & i'm 'bout done. gittin' too old ta chase 'em. you keep doin' what yer doin'. the true turkey hunters know what yer doin'. we're never too old ta learn somethin'. thanks boy!!! the turkeys win way more than they lose.
Keep on keeping it real Dave. Grew up hunting and still hunt La n Ms public lands. Most days are like the one you just had. All part of it my brother. STILL Another GREAT VIDEO
Its tough for sure. Keep up the good work!
Hey Dave, I always enjoy the process! This is what most days are like. It makes the successful days all the more sweeter.
100% That's turkey huntin. It's refreshing to see that you're as real as it gets by sharing both the highs and the lows. There's still benefits even when you do get beat. That is simply by being out there taking it all in.
Looking forward to your next video. 🦃🦃 Happy & Safe Hunting.
I truly appreciate the process. The process makes the victories that much better.
The process is hunting!
The 1% of the time makes the 99% worth it. I feel sorry for the guy that kills a turkey his first time out…..he’s ruined. Thanks Dave for your content
Awesome job getting in tight hate it ended up that way hopefully those guys learned something. A little respect goes along way. Great job as usual my season is closed in Bama ended with 3. Tagged out in Nebraska now I’m just living off you RUclips guys. Good luck
Great video Dave! Makes me feel human when I see other hunters struggle like I do. Thanks for showing!
Keep putting out this great content! I definitely don’t always need to see you kill a turkey, I watch your videos for the education and also it keeps me going, knowing that I’m not the only one that runs into the same type of problems! Thank you for all the great video, and all the great information that you share with us!
I am here for the process. Learned more from you than any other.
Another great episode. I’ve had similar experiences this hunting season taking someone who’s never hunted before, and hunting on public for the first time ever in my life. It makes me feel a little better knowing that everybody goes through this, especially someone who is a pro! But I wouldn’t want this season any other way. Keep after it Dave. Love your content man!!!!
It’s ALL about the process.
Great video. I’m one of the ones who like the process. It’s also good to know that I’m not the only one that gets his butt kicked by a bird. Lol
I love videos like these! Especially in my neck of the woods! Love it! It amazes me If someone's on a turkey, people dont get outta there and find somewhere else. They'd rather circle around and mess things up for all parties.
Id much rather watch the process than the kill shot! Btw, i tagged out in Kentucky and ohio(all on public) using your green reverse combo! Thanks for everything you do, king!
Watching this video was refreshing to know that even y’all have days where the turkeys kick your butts. That happens to us on more occasions. I love your content and learn a lot from y’all. Keep up the great work. #goals
I am one of those who love this video. Like you said this is exactly like it is and why it’s called turkey hunting and not turkey shooting.
These are my favorite ones Dave
I like the process, the frustration, and the butt whoopin. All part of it.
As weird as it may sound i love the failure scenarios. Learn so much more from failure than success sometimes
Yesr I won't to C thim all the good bad and the ugly. But thare all good to me!!! Thanks Dave for doing what you do.
Unfortunate but love the raw footage. It’s something we all struggle with on Public land. Also whenever you get a chance would love to know what gun camera you currently are using and if you are happy with it. As always love the footage.
I watched the entire video and glad I did! I want to learn and these kinds of experiences are a good teacher, and make hunters like me all the more grateful when success comes. Thanks for posting this!
I watch all of the content. Whether there is a kill or not. I to have had my butt handed to me. I have also had folks come in on me working a turkey. But that is turkey hunting. I feel blessed ever time I go to the words. I watch every minute and soak in all your tactics. I learn more from to no kill videos. Do not get me wrong I love the successful hunts too. Thanks for all you do to bring us content.
Chin up there... there are some of us that have walked the trail and woods in NW GA and NE AL trying to scratch up a bird... I enjoyed the vid
Good to know even the best ones get bested! Thanks for showing the real stuff.
I wouldn’t say Dave got bested, by any means. More like cheated, if anything.
Heck, I like these videos kill or not. I learn as much as I can from all of them.
Realistic, true to form day in the woods !
Lots of valuable lessons learned as well as showing folks that everyone has just as much right as th other fella to hunt public land. Difficult at times but true. Thanks Dave.
I like the process. The turkeys are hard enough to compete with without a bunch of bone head hunters.
Man, it's the battle that we love! The process is what drives the obsessed turkey hunter. The kill is just the finally. That's why we love your videos Dave because it's all about the journey.
The butt whoopings are what makes it fun to me.
Great Hunt ! Always learn more in defeat than in victory ! If you reflect.
I like it all !
Other than poor timber management, Coronavirus and youtube are the worst thing that could ever have happened to turkey hunting. So many new turkey hunters since coronavirus watching youtube videos and think the know what they are doing. Most are the younger generation that didn't grow up doing it. They have no respect for the bird or other hunters even if they watch videos its years of experience that kills turkeys. Respect for the turkeys and other hunters are tought at home. And if you did not grow up in a hunting family or atmosphere it will never be learned. Hunting turkeys is tuff hunting turkeys on public land is way harder but it shouldn't be. If someone beats you to the bird or a truck at the gate move on. Wake up earlier get there first and hope the next guy does the same
WELL SAID
No sir you are mistaken I wouldn’t say experience kills turkeys if anyone can kill one if there patient and are ok o a box call also don’t see why you throwing shade at the “ younger generation “ maybe most old people finally found the internet during Covid and decided to start filming old people always think they know everything bout hunting no need to judge “the younger generation “ old people have screwed me up just as much as the “ younger generation”
Without the younger generation it’s a dying sport! We need the younger kids learning, who cares if they are screwing up and yes they may start out doing wrong, but the outdoors will teach them respect and patience! You’re looking at it wrong! Some kids aren’t blessed with a hunting family. But a kid that finds hunting, it may keep them out of trouble. Instead of bashing the kids, take some time and teach them!
@@Huntingwiththeposeys thank you
You’re a selfish person. Covid was exactly the reason I started turkey hunting. Been doing it for 3 years now trying to figure it out. I care more about the bird and it’s conservation than anything in this world. Do you have a problem with that? You don’t own the turkey woods, if you don’t like walking the extra miles to get away from other hunters you better find some private land.
All part of the process. Frustrating but all worth it when it happens.
I love the film showing the struggles and real life hunting situations.
Thanks Dave!
Dave, as you know, happiness is not found at the end of the trail, but along the way. Thanks for sharing your trail adventures, kill or no kill.
Dave that Hunting I loved that Dam good Hunt no kill But good JOB I Have Never walked in on somebody working bird in 40 years Hunting good job
It isn’t always about the kill more about the journey and the good lord allowing us another day above ground
I love the process. I'm a Mississippi boy & Dave I hunted my tail off this year . I hunt about 98% public 2% private. I had my safety off 4 diff times on 3 different birds & couldn't close deal. I hear a lot of gobbling this year on both public & private. I came up with a goose egg. Didn't kill a turkey. I had a real fun year though. If I wasn't broke, I'd still be chasing them in places it's open lol Enjoy your videos man. Especially the Mississippi ones.
I will watch every single day you are go at what you do
I very much like these videos because i 100% can relate to this .
Had so many days in the last few years JUST like your hunt. I only hunt public land and you can never tell if the birds have been called to so much during the week from locals that they will never come to a call again. 😆 Hens pulling the big boys in the opposite direction while he gobbles his head off! It is maddening always second guessing setup/calling, etc. Thanks for keeping it real.
So many guys watch RUclips videos and expect them to come running in. A person might have spent 5 days out there without having a gobble before that one ran in. None of the other 5 days is on video.
I watch 💘 it' learning tool ! Just had first tag. Tag soup lol
Tough one Dave.
These are the videos that are interesting. It's nice to see even the master getting schooled by turkeys. I had the same thing happen to me yesterday with a turkey standing there like a decoy.
Hunting turkeys in 25 or so states all on public land i cant say im surprised it is common nowdays for people to see your vehicle for a few days in same place and come in ontop of you and try and kill the bird they think you are on and cant usually makes for multiple people in same area on same birds and nobody get the bird and he gets a education... respect for other hunters needs to be taught at gun/hunter safety its becoming a safety factor nowadays with all the novices hunters out beating up the public land after covid
It's not a busted hunt. We have days like that.
Trick is to learn from it to be a better Turkey hunter. There's no better teacher in the wild Turkey.
I’ll take the process any day as well. Live the ups and downs. But it’s true. That’s why my videos are only 8-10 minutes long. No one wants to watch the struggles
Dave when you’re calling to the bird on the limb, what type of call are you giving to the gobbler as he gobbles. I’ve heard hens do that before. Just curious what the hen is telling the gobbler when she does that. Thanks and keep videos coming
I think of it as a reflex. He's said something that she really likes so she's quick to acknowledge him.
@@pinhotiproject thanks for your reply. Always trying to learn more about their language lol. Keep the videos coming
