My friend, I just happened to catch this video. Number eight. I'm not a cabin builder by any means. So whatever I say please just take it with a grain of salt. I only comment in hopes that you may find something that will help you accomplish your tasks, but make the journey a little easier. I would make just a couple of suggestions. One would be for you to get a tape measure. I think it may not be important now, but as things progress you'll wish you had started with it. My second suggestion would be for you to get at least a small Forest axe maybe 2 and 1/2 lb head and 26 in Long. Something that you can start using your biceps and shoulders the bigger muscles opposed to only using your wrists forearm with that hatchet. Use the hatchet for more detail work after you're done with the axe. You can probably make 85% of the cut with the axe in 10% of the time you're taking to use the hatchet. Even a sturdy knife and a baton would work better than that. Hatchet. Also if you could find a way to get the wood up off the ground. perhaps a tree trunk? And a set of fork sticks pounded into the ground to hold the other end up off the ground . and do your chopping on the trunk so that it doesn't bounce all over the place. As you strike the wood, you're losing energy every time it bounces. And the last thing I'll say the cut that you're making is a half lap joint. If you can find a way to Make these few changes. Your production would definitely increase but even more important when you go home at night you won't be all bent over from your back hurting. Again, please don't take this as any sort of criticism. It is not. It's only a suggestion for you to think about and hopefully it will help you in some way, even if not on this project, maybe the next.

First of all, I’d like to thank you very much for your advice. Everything you said makes complete sense to me, I’ll implement as many of these changes that I can into the next video and all of the following. I do have an axe, however it’s slightly heavier around a 3 lb head. So I’ll start using that more again. I really do appreciate you taking the time to tell me all of this, I hope you have a wonderful day.
