    Just wanted to let you know that I had forgotten how to do this so I re-watched this video and was then able to put together an A-B-B-A consist. Thanks again.

    Thanks for watching, This is what it is. I have considered doing jokes also. just kidding. You would have to know me, the comment come in the package.
    I am going to redo the ones on building Panel in layout editor. These are though videos to make. Lots of items being skipped or not included.

    Arthur, I just watched this video again and learned some things I did not learn from my first viewing. I would like to see an abbreviated versus of the consist, i.e. without the side bar comments. This is excellent as if when one has 19+ minutes to watch it all. Thanks again.

    Their is switch on panel double poll double through center off. One way is program track one side is main. After finished switch back to main. In setting consist they are being done on main.

    Yes, speed matching, consist the two, separate them run forward and back if one run faster than other than they will need to be speed matched. You cannot put two powered locos together that are not real close to ruining at the same speed you eat up gears.

    I recently worked on these engines for Art, installed LEDs and a Tsunami decoder into the B-unit to match the one in the A-unit. When I set up the B-unit I turned off the horn and bell, leaving only the prime mover and a few other sounds via JMRI. Now if he wants, Art can program the long address in the B-unit to the same address as the A-unit, since these will always be run together. When you place on the track you just need to make sure the B-unit is pointed the right way.

    Thank you Art for this very useful explanation. One note regarding engines with the same address, you can turn the volume off for bell and horn for the B unit. Cheers.

    Wiring for any dcc system for a reverse loup is the same. Buy auto reverser from Tony's train exchange and follow digram in the unit. Remember section fro reversing must be long enough to hold the whole train.

    I noticed when you pressed function 8 that it controlled both locomotives. Is this the same for horn, bell, and headlight buttons?

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  5 лет назад

      No. Only lead loco will horn and bell work.

    Arthur, thanks for the info, very useful. But, you may want to get a mini tripod for your camera, as there is too much movement, i got a headache watching it.

    Can you make a video showing the process of speed matching for a consist? You seem to be the only person I can understand that explains how to use the NCE system.

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  6 лет назад

      I do not do speed matching and there are a number of videos on You Tube on how to do it. Most use Decoder Pro from JMRI . This is free program you can down load. I run like engines with like motors with like decoders. That way no problems with speed being different.

    Hi, 'DCC newbie' here. I have a question setting up my first 'consist' with the NCE system. Purchased a dual F2A and F2B set, was able to enter in the 3 digit road number of the F2A however the F2B has a 3 digit plus letter road number (355-B)....how can that be entered into the NCE power cab controller (key pad is numbers only) or do I need to somehow reprogram as another number to operate? Great videos! Thanks for posting.

    hello I have a huge question for you on dcc wiring ...I am using n scale kato unitrack and i have created a revere loop with a double crossover and was hoping you could show me how to wire in the digitrax ar1 reverser units to the track to complete the reverse loops so i dont have a short ....I am using a nce 5 amp system that was custom built by tony;s trains shop so the power that runs the system cuts off if there is a short so it works good ..please help if you can which I think you can ,

    I use mimi panel to set up macros for switch machines. If you use command station and have to change battery or voltage is lost from the battery in command station, you marcos are gone. Not ture if you use the mini panel.
    Their is a way to save macros to another place in your computer but I have not done it in the command station. I have video on mini panel

    I have a question;, I have successfully established a consist, but how do I keep the consist and go back to running the engines separately without erasing the consist#? I couldn't get back to running the 2 engines that I used in the consist separately without totally erasing the consist. I am using a NCE Power Cab. Forgive me for my ignorance, but I am new to DCC, and some things take time to sink in.

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  7 лет назад +1

      Consist is created in two places in the command station memory and the decoder under CV 19. If you want to run engines separate you need to kill the consist. Not something you can save. If you remember the consist number 2 to 127 and the computer starts with 127 first then selects first unused one next going down. Press clear with locos on live track enter consist number and press enter it should reset the command station on that consist number to none, and reset CV 19 to 0 in both locos. If locos do not run, go to Consist area on control and press DEL. enter loco number and press enter. This will reset decoder in loco CV 19 to 0 and then you can select the individual loco and run it. You can go to Browse Consist under PROG and roll knob until you see engine numbers and then press clear and this will kill the consist.

    Very good explination about NCE Consits.
    Will it work to create consits using CV 19 and ignoring the Consits Buttons onto throttle?

    Thanks for this explanation. If I have two SD40 locos 7100 and 7101, I want to consist the pair of them to run in both directions. As you explained, I consist the locos with the lead loco as 7100 to run forward and 7101 to run reverse. However, If I want 7101 to be the lead loco and have 7100 trailing, do I need to create a new consist (i.e. new consist with 7101 going forward and 7100 going reverse)? And lastly, do I do this consisting on the main or on the program track?Many thanks.

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  7 лет назад

      No you do not all you do is select loco 7101 and it will be the forward loco. But if only one has sound you will have to always run it as forward loco. Sound loco has to be one selected and first for horn bell etc to work.
