    It sounds good in concept but as far as I know no one has figured out how to print circuits on a diamond chip. The inconsistency of the diamond grains would also make it impossible to construct a chip out of them.

    I made it clear in my first reply that they ought to be "worthless" in-terms of price, so I don't understand what you're trying to say.
    ~
    Sand is useful as an abrasive, making glass, and some other things I'm sure. But the average person won't pay any money for a handful of sand, because they could just pick it up from the beach.
    A handful of sand is potentially useful but worthless in-terms of money, because like diamonds (if they were all to be let onto market) the supply exceeds demand.

    • @euclideanplane
      @euclideanplane 5 лет назад +1

      why would you want fast thermal transfer on your iphone?
      or are you expecting to have a diamond unbreakable screen? I don't think any of these diamonds were see through unfortunately, you got a long ways to go on that, unless you're willing to accept a tiny layer of diamond (thin enough so it becomes opaque) ontop of a layer of glass, idk how that would help anyone

    • @Draco-jk3rb
      @Draco-jk3rb 4 года назад +1

      diamond can shatter very easily as it is extremely brittle, so it would not make for a good screen. It would be scratch proof but if you dropped your phone the screen would shatter everywhere.

    • @twentytwo138
      @twentytwo138 3 года назад

    I'm bummed out by the fact that in the suggestions column there aren't any other videos about diamonds. What's up with that, RUclips?

  • @ArhkXi
    @ArhkXi 11 лет назад +1

    Because they're so plentiful in number they should be essentially "worthless" in price. The only reason diamonds aren't folds cheaper is because the largest companies that buy diamonds at the source hold back a big amount from the market. There are also places known to have diamonds, but are not being harvested because of the precarious nature of the place in which they are found, and the unique skill and equipment that their retrieval would require.

    1:06 Those things at the right of his head are 4 freaking huge nuts and what they rest on is almost about 1 foot thick piece of most likely hardened steel.. that is whats needed to hold for the pressure and that says something about the fuckin insane pressures needed to create synthetic diamonds.

      “Due to its rarity, we have never been able to conduct an actual examination of its hardness. It is formed during volcanic eruptions. New computer simulations show that despite forming a tetrahedral crystal structure rather than a face-centred cubic one, this material is 18% tougher than diamond.”

    I have a potentially stupid question.
    If I compress a loaf of bread until it's the size of a golf ball, it'll still weigh the same.
    Why don't diamonds weigh the same as their non-compressed ingredients?
    A daft example probably with inaccurate measurements., if it takes 10k of coal to make one diamond for a wedding ring, why doesn't that ring still weigh 10k?
