The funny thing is hamsters have opposable thumbs (only in theirs hands) and can walk on 2 legs (clumsily, but can) but they needed to carry like A LOT OF STUFF
@@neoDarkSquall not sure if it’s the same for hamsters, but rats use to have thumbs but evolved to no longer have them (there’s only a little nub where it use to be) as without thumbs they can run at much faster speeds, which helps them escape predators and increase their chances of survival.

In the wild they roam about 5-8 miles a night from their nest. Everything they can get their hands on they stuff in their cheeks. It pretty interesting how much one wild hamster can hoard over a few months!

Hamsters are always ready to take more even if they had all the food they gonna need for years in their places that's one of the cutest things about them🐹🐹
I wish their life span was longer than 2 to 3 years. I need a companion these days
Theres always a ferret, guinea pig, sugar glider or chinchilla lol. They live a bit longer. Also some birds live for years. Hamster are pretty clean and low maintenence though. So not sure of any other low maintenance companions other than reptiles maybe. But they aren't exactly cuddly lol. Some birds can be messy too though.
Get a deer head chihuahua. They're amazing, charming, funny, cuddly and loving. I want one, but they get very attached and I don't have enough time at this time in my life. One day......😍
Guinea pigs live for 5-8 yrs, & love to hang out on sofas in laps.
You gotta get at least 2 guinea pigs though, or it will get depressed. Females are cleaner. Males have a gland above their booty that puts off a funk.
@@lanaanynamewilldo217 I didn't know that, so thanks for correcting me! Now that you mention it, it's the same for ferrets too I think and some birds, all sugar gliders, and pet rats too. I don't think I've ever seen a ferret alone now that I think about it 🤔. Hamsters prefer to be alone though because they are territorial. I guess that's something to research before upgrading from a hamster!

Goodness little one!! I loved watching my hamsters do this. I was always afraid to let them put too much in their pouches, and stopped them at about 4. Like they don't know what they're doing or something. I swear, I know they do but my anxiety for them was so silly. This made me nervous to watch. Lol!
I one had a hamster putting so many seeds in his cheeks that he punctured his insides and it got infected so I had to take him to the doctor

My first hamster as a little girl was going through one of his tunnels, and it was a little too small and his little eyeball literally popped out of his head. He lived, but only had one eye. His name was Rambo. Lol. And that was already his name when it happened. He was the sweetest thing. ♡

In hamsters the pouch can stretch so that it goes from the opening of their mouth almost to their shoulder or upper arm and they can fit 20% of their weight in it.

Whats cool is those pouches actually go almost all the way down the side of the hamsters body, and they can fit an extreme amount of food or bedding materials when they need to.
