I took apart my cheap camper shell (for the second time), gave it a refresh, and reorganized my truck camping setup - now it's time to put it to the test. Join me for a day camping by the river and cooking gourmet campfire meals.

About me: I decided to jump on an opportunity to buy a school bus for $1000. After 2.5 years of building and a couple summers doing bus life, I sold the bus and began building a tiny house boat from scratch. My hope is that with a couple years of practice building under my belt, I can do a bit better of a job this time and build something that actually floats 🤞

my friday is complete with a visit from emma. hope you have a great weekend!
"I'm way too lazy of a person... " I don't think many of your subscribers would agree with that (we who watched your very ambitious bus-build and continuing boat-build).
It's nice when the camp spot is close to home. If you forget something u really need... it's not to faraway. 😊
Some times the best camping trips are where your clothes and your food both smell like the campfire smoke, and the sound of that rive bring back really great memories from camping trips in the past.
For your wood gathering skills.............You might look into a mini battery power chain saw.
Could be a hatchet or large tooth saw. Just a thought.
I feel the best thing about your campsite , is the sounds of the stream.
Hearing Emma mention hauling giant logs out of the forest made me chuckle, because it brought back a memory of another adventurous young lady hauling even gianter logs to a campfire one night in Colorado.
Laura, a powerlifter friend, went out to collect firewood. She came back to the campsite flipping a huge log end over end. It was about eight feet long and fully 18 inches thick. She would pick up one end, and keep lifting the log hand over hand until she could push it over. She brought it all the way to our campsite, where we used it mostly as a bench in front of the fire. But Laura needed to show off her muscle after drinking a bit. So she demonstrated for us one last time, lifting the log and flipping it over into the fire this time.
I stayed up that night to be sure the fire was dead out after people went to sleep. Thankfully, I didn't have to lift the log and manhandle it like Laura had done. I just rolled it into the creek to put the fire out!
Your in a good spot for a collapsible camping rocket stove. There cheap, you can boil your tea water with a few twigs and it folds down to almost nothing.
Emma, good to see your camper isn't leaking also, you got a very relaxing spot. The sounds of the water stream running and the wind in the trees are so refreshing.
luv the video emma!-get yourself a small camping saw-keep it in the truck. also waterproof matches . luv your wood gathering style. that was great breakingthe firewood by hand. also they have mess kits with knife and fork- i guess they still make them. luv your camping outfit always keep it simple and comfortable lol.-luv your campsite choice by the creek!!
nobody has the style and grayce like emma -adios senorita-charlie from arkansas. cant wait for the next video!
An epiphany. Camping or driving your house around.
You may have the perfect mobile set up. Pick-ups can go most anywhere and haul enough stuff. I'm very aged and use a mini van but it is much more fragile than a pick-up. I don't go to those rugged places any longer.
Bed in the back means no set up and some security. Put the Monkey on the front.
Coleman makes a one burner stove. It is cheap. Like 1/4 the cost of my stone reliable 50 year old Svea 123. If you just need hot water you could use a 12 volt cup heater. I always carry one. make a cuppa as your driving down the road.
For rain protection use a blue tarp. Throw it over the camper roof. Anchor the front to the rear tires and roll it out over your tail gate. Tie off to trees or a couple of poles. Go as big as you want.
Remember water. A gallon a day plus one for the truck.
Excellent advice. I carry 4 pack from Amazon of those Motion sensor LED Night lights, set perimeter where you like away a bit and you will KNOW when something comes a creeping. Then ..
When i car or motorcycle camp, i bring a couple of compressed fire logs you can buy at most stores. They light easy and burn 2-4 hours.
They are not Environmentally responsible. Full of chemicals 🙄
Again, you're so cute. Couldn't of you leak checked your camper at home anytime you wanted to by just spraying it down with the hose? So cute.
Wheres the adventure in that? 😛
You should invest in one of those small folding camps saw, then we go to camping trip. You have some thing to cut up branches and stuff.
You need an awning of some sort! Especially for this kind of day!
So serene and soothing the flow of the creek and also being able to butt up to the waters edge and fire pit, i see the point of the smaller vehicle. Thanks for Sharing Emma and Happy Camping...
Silky saw could be your best friend.
Exactly! Get yourself a Silky Pocket Boy. You won’t regret it.
YOU HAVE A GREAT MOTHER RO SHE TALKS FROM HER HEART AND SOUL!!!
Big platinum streaks would pop!😊
great! Emma vid! Maybe try putting a tarp over the back of the truck To act as an awning for when it rains Raining is the best part As long as you don't have danergerous weather like large hail and tornadoes You are right very relaxing eating popcorn and watching Emma vids
It's good to see you getting that great dose of fresh air, it's a welcome break from the long process of building your houseboat, I guess.
I've always loved streams/creeks (ever since I was a little boy fishing for minnows and catching eels hidden under rocks), and you've made me want to wake up with the sound of the water too.
I'm a new viewer. You have some good videos.
I like Bacon Jelly Toast Sandwich when I was a kid.
Firstly. You worked very hard to build that bus! If you wish to "rough it" your bus wasn't
The problem. Your bus was something you accomplished and you should reflect on it as an accomplishment.
You could still "rough it" in your bus opting to cook over a fire, however you feel a truck canopy serves better.
Let's hope the house boat is what you desire.
Cheers
🎉 Yay! A weekend off. It's good for the soul. I hope you enjoy the company of your friends. The first aid kit is a good idea to carry in your truck camping or not, one thing I found that was handy to keep in my camping gear was a bar of anti-ivy soap, scavenging for wood can be an itchy situation sometimes. I do miss birdie, but I can see this is a better option for ya at this point for ya. I never had a camper shell on my truck but I remember pretty much living most of my summer vacations over in the east side of Idaho/Wyoming/Montana near Yellowstone and in the Tetons camping and fishing and rock climbing. If I couldn't carry it in my hiking pack, I didn't bring it. I felt downright spoiled when I got to camp with some friends that had an RV. 😂 and i think it's been over a decade since I've been camping for real. 😔 Lol. The last time I went camping it was more Glamping, with my elderly parents, and I honestly think I was invited for strictly labor purposes. I ended up setting up their posh little encampment for them. They have one of those Pop up awning tents that they put over the picnic table and then put the door of their HUGE tent so it opens into it, and then set up mine on another side. So it was like "camping" in a three room cabin. They had these huge double bed sized air mattress and the coffee pot and a microwave. So not the way we camped when I was younger. Same sleeping bag though, still have it. It's over 30 years old and cozy as ever. Sorry for the ramble. I hope anyone that read all of this is well, and happy. Be blessed everyone. ❤ 🕯️
It's nice to see you taking a break from projects ("too lazy a person"?). From my perspective, if I worked that hard to build a kitchen in a bus I would feel stupid cooking over a campfire outside.
Try this recipe. Brown rice 1 cup, quinoa 1 cup, onion powder 2 tbl spoons, fresh garlic two large toes, red pepper 1 tsp, cayan pepper 1\2 tsp, dark chillie powder 2 tbl spoons, green bell pepper, red apple, and red grapes about 1\2 cup. Might a little hot for you. I like eating fire!
Beautiful place, Reminds me of a place we go in Montana that's not too far from home.
I'd be seeing if there's any trout in that water! What a beautiful place.
love the truck camper, i lived in my s10 camper right on the beach for years, love how the rear windshield spring never worked either lol
I think it's awesome you're so adventurous. I just wish you'd get a big dog and or your CCW......
I love the rushing water and waterfalls.
This is the PERFECT place for me !!! I can’t find places like this in Ohio. Park next to running water and a waterfall. Ahhhhhh so relaxing. I would move in. lol. Safe travels and thanks for sharing. Would love to come and visit that place. If you share where it is?
That ain't nothing wrong with that place, id be happy with that place myself.
How lovely i should be there enjoying the sound of the river and what other sound that it out there ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
I do a similar flavor combination when I make myself a burger. I soften cream cheese and mix in chopped jalapeños, that combo goes on one side of the patty and I put raspberry jam on the other side.
Planning is essential. Also, bring an ax and hammer.
that is an elite recipe, very unique taste
For me,those familiar camp-sites invoke happy memories of good times past (and some sad, of those not with us anymore) . That,to me, is nourishment for my soul.
Beautiful place and super delicious food, have a great weekend ⛅
I really enjoyed this video, I was literally like “oh it’s over 🙁” when it ended!
I discovered your channel a couple days ago and have been watching several episodes a day. Good job.
Raw, honest and a dry sense of humour what else could we ask for..
Quite the gourmet chef!
They’ve got plastic cutting boards at $1.25 store and tons of useful utensils for camping. Lol Raw meat on top of the fridge. Love your channel. But remember always scavenge while you have sunlight
Looks idyllic Emma. I agree that doing something "from scratch" is much more rewarding, I would build the campfire and cook over it too, given the option. 😊😊
I firmly believe if my DNA was uncoiled it would mainly consist of base pairs of jalapeno poppers and the backbone would be Robin Trowers' song Bridge of Sighs.
Thanks!
Its the sound for me
Hope no one got sick, and I do like to keep it positive! But please, please don’t cook pork things , especially poppers without baking then first.
Only had poisoning a few times but once was from bbq poppers not cooked all the way.
They are tricky cuz the peppers keep the bacon from cooking. But I do love them!
Memang asyik camping dengan truk cantik, sukses selalu ❤ salam kenal 🙏🙏
Good video!
Take care sister ❤️ I like camping
Again, I love the meal prep. One of my favorite meals now is the beans, eggs and tomatoes with avocado. Thanks for that.
Generally,
One armful of campfire wood per hour.
Sticks and branches dont count. ha
Greetings from Rochester NY
Very cute----relaxing
RAMBLING WOMAN! You go Emma. No matter what you do, it's always entertaining to watch. Have a great time with your friends. Definitely a nice place where you are camped at. 👍😉😁
What? No dunk? What'a jip!
It would be great if there were RUclips channels that came and did fiberglass for free like the lawn mowing channels 🤔aw the boat can wait just relax 🤣🙂
When you get back to boat building, an epoxy tip I got from another site is to buy bag of cheap chip brushes, then cut the bristle length in half. They work great for spreading epoxy. Love the camping video.
Terrific scenic video! Rain beating on a roof is great sleeping, but a bit too cozy in a confined space during the day unless you are deep into a book.
Beautiful is beautiful regardless of where it is, close to home is an added bonus! Camping and great food just go together, and the outdoors makes even a hot dog taste better... I had a Coleman griddle /burner stove like you described and it lasted for years. I now use a larger smoker/ grill and a single burner for boiling water for tea/ coffee or Dinty Moore Beef Stew, my go to quick or emergency meal in a can that goes with me everywhere.
Emma If Bring Garden Hand Saw Or Long Jaw Snapper's There Be Perfect Tool For Outdoor Cutting Branches
Emma, I have looked into a camping setup in my Tacoma a few years back, yeah I did the platform initially too, and was not a fan either. So here is an idea for your setup…First get a smaller mattress that will fit between the wheel wells. Then build cabinets that go over the wheel wells, say, up to the height of the truck bed (you don’t want to lose those beautiful views). That would give you space for camping gear. Maybe have drawers at the tailgate end that could be good for stuff that you use often. Just a thought 🤷♀️
I do love this idea - the problem is that I often need room for two people to sleep! still puzzling over whether there's a way to get everything I want haha
The video "Truck camping by the river (with a gourmet campfire meal)" showcases a serene camping experience by the water. The beautiful scenery combined with a gourmet campfire meal creates a perfect outdoor setting. It's inspiring to see the simplicity and peacefulness of truck camping, emphasizing the beauty of nature and the joy of enjoying a delicious meal prepared in the great outdoors. This video captures the essence of outdoor adventure and relaxation, making me want to pack up my own truck and head to the nearest riverside for a similar experience.
What a lovely place to wake up to
Live YOUR dreams
Use a butane stove it works the best all around ..This is what I use for my cabin 3min hot water for coffee or tea ...
One of my favorite tomboy beauties. Berries and nightshdes look gross tho lol. Love.
A good nature gal. Refreshing.
I love these videos, Emma. Especially when you start them with the soothing sounds of a running river. Makes my heart happy and calm 💜
You seem like a normal sane person
Tools are a good idea. A small saw, hatched, maybe a mallet, jackknife, typical camping stuff. Perhaps some bear repellent. Never know what's out there in the middle of the night and you're alone.
You are far from lazy, you are ambitious, driven, talented. Watched you build Birbie , incredible progress, sad to see you sell it, great adventures in a house boat when done, but love the camping setup
the grass is never greener on the other side of the hill, right. "wink."
Yay!
New to your channel im watching from Ontario Canada van camper
Your videos give me joy.Thank you!
Nice camp 👍🏾👍🏾
Always interesting to watch! You keep it real.
I think a fun compilation (I am sure not for you) of all the times that you have actually hurt or almost hurt yourself in the many adventures and builds you have done. I totally winced watching you cut that pepper and was waiting to see the next clip of you with a bandage on your hand.
hey thanks for the speaker recommendation, i had been looking for a good one, after having several junky ones and problems, that sound core one looks pretty tight
Everyone knows that jalapeño peppers make the rain go away.. 🤫🤭
Glad you weren't hosed!
throw the long stuff over the fire burning it in 2 then you can stick then ends in and feed the fire.
You need to put a camping kit together.. like get a tote and have some things in it for these trips.. a pair of tongs and other basic cooking essentials, a wood saw, some newspaper, a metal plate and cup.. just the essentials that you can just have on hand to throw in the back of the truck when you head off on a camping trip..
I like your attitude, life philosophy, and especially your, "I might not succeed, but I'm going to try" spirit.
Love you
I see an existential archetype in our new social evolution.
I like your video
Does your trailer have verticle poles at the aft corners to help guide the boat on? have seen many that do
Dragging dead logs through the forest...I'm dead 💀
Perfect place to pann for gold.
How about a Monkey bike moto camping video. That would be great.
How do blackberry preserves and jalapeños go together?
"It's raining in Ernest". Had no idea you're in Pennsylvania. Or is it Georgia...
Next purchase, hatchet. Then tongs.
❤
I love your videos.
I started watching now no boat and you are doing the same as everyone else I saying good bye !
bye 😊
Camper upgrades? ☺☺☺
