Just catching up on your videos. Wow watching this one I am so pleased I live in Canada on the east coast north of Maine. I can travel for days on woods roads. Rarely see anyone with pristine rivers, lakes and brooks everywhere. My truck, ATV or dual sport bike (great monkey terrain also) take me anywhere I wish go with no to very little people around. Love your videos.
With two generations of my family in California, and having spent a few years of my life there in total, I can say I love California. With that being said, it’s also a weird place depending on location.
Cute sandies. I enjoy the social media stuff like this. Back in the olden days, several generations past, I would tell people to reverse swiftly then stab brake several rapid quick hard stomps. Oddly, the owners manuals, drivers license manuals nor most mechanics share this. Repeat periodically.....every three weeks is perfect. 😊
This was a very interesting trip. You managed to find lots of beauty along the way. Sad that so much of the cool wild places are being overwhelmed with people. Thanks for taking us along!
I have been years in Northern California and actually would say that the Bay Area includes everything south of Auburn, including Sacramento and Tahoe, and at the coast includes the Russian River area as well. Clear Lake counts as Northern California but it’s borderline wine country. Still there are HUGE areas north of there, tons of forests and little towns and lakes. Two counties are still called “frontier” counties, by the census designation or something, north of Nevada County maybe. Some great lonesome forests can be found near Iowa Hill, Sugar Pine Reservoir. This is on the eastern side of the American River Canyon from Colfax and very few people are out there. Go to Sugar Pine Lodge and say I sent you, I stayed there a couple months in an RV. You can have some real wilderness experiences out there. Got yer owls and bears.
Emma, your reaction to the foxes warmed my heart, and brought back memories of camping in Wyoming once, when my wife quietly woke me because she didn't want me to miss the pack of wolves that was passing through our camp in early morning. They were as close as the foxes were in your camp! We have it good this summer, right here at home: we have two dens with baby foxes within sight of our house. One of them is conveniently located within view of my favorite chair on the deck! I've been taking my video camera out to film them too. The foxes aren't bothered at all by my camera and tripod, and I've got some wonderful footage!
Mid August is one of the best times to go to Lake Tahoe, once school starts all kids and their parents are back to work and school so lake is 70-85% less people than summer school break
Hi Emma it's Tony as always it's a enjoyable time watching your videos I enjoy spending my Fridays with you and your antics never know what to expect with you but the most part as long as you enjoy your self but I would like to say there was a few times that you looked extremely attractive the best part is that you were just being you self no frills just you I think you have the most beautiful eyes of an angel please don't take this out of respect for you and I usually don't make any comments I highly respect you and would like to see you finish the boat so please take care of yourself and may God bless you you are in my prayers see you next week
Get to the coast for some relief from the heat. Best time to go to Tahoe is before summer, May even early June is do-able. Basically before the official summer kick off and kids are out for summer. I was there late May and early June and it wasn't bad at all with the crowds. When coming to CA best to use the weekend to transit around and the work week to do stuff. Lived here all my life and rarely do stuff on the weekend, most everything I do is during the week.
I love watching your travelling videos. I’ve so got to go to the States. I’ve been to Hawaii but I want to ride a Harley across the USA. I’ve been following your journey right from the beginning with Berbie. Steve from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
It's always likely - especially in the summer in California - to have crowds and fees to pay at every popular spot. There are beautiful places there, but with the traffic and crowds and expense, I'm glad to have moved up the coast to a small city in Northwest Washington (where it has been sunny and in the 70s for most of the last few weeks). BTW, I, too, was surprised to find the beautiful Ruby Mountains outside of Elko, years ago.
Emma it's Tony again I would like to suggest that you look in to getting what they call mylar it's a film for your windows you can see out but can't see in you can get it at a auto parts store easy to use water bottle and a razor and squeegee it comes in dark and silver tint just think when you are in the truck and sleeping no body can see you until next time take care
Well lake tahoe is one of the most popular places to visit on earth LOL thanks I almost forgot. Liked Your Video I spent just under a year in Elko working construction inside the city I think like 3 miles off I 80 . I loved it I remember snow flurrys on july 1 but 90s and just about 100 around then mostly highs and low 60s nights My issue was working outdoors in winter pretty rough. I explored a bit Ruby mountains to the south and Jarbridge to the north . really wanted to move there but left at the end of the project never returned
Get a Black Widow AMC-400L carrier for your Honda Monkey. I have one for my Toyota Tacoma to transport an e-bike. The ramp is long enough to push the bike on & off without power.
Going back, I would recommend several highways that are south of Tahoe what are breathtaking in their own ways. Hwy 88 isn't too bad; Hwy 50 is actually quite nice. Hwy 4 through Ebbett's Pass will help you to exercize your sphincter muscles do to it being rather NARROW in spots, but is beautiful. Hwy's 108 and 120 will asstound you with their beauty, although 120 can be a little crowded in the summer. Hope you have the time to take any one of these. My fave is 108 and Sonora Pass.....
What a great ride and beauty of our country. Definitely gotta do a destination bike ride, below Red Bull standards. 🎉 Keep up your vigilantes on the road. 🙏🏻🤞🏻🗽🇺🇸
I think most of the US in the summer months are busy, as it is 'vacation time" for many. I bet fall would be beautiful there, but it could also be busy for that season as well. You'll just have to decide what it is you are looking for, and do some research. And definitely get out on the bike more... go online and research where you are headed and map out trails from that... you'll have fun, if you plan a head a few days and know what is coming up next.
We usually do shoulder season for National Parks and State parks now. After covid people seem to have a new appreciation for nature and it kinda sucks. Different people too. Graffiti and trash being found on trails. I think the coming apocalypse/depression will change things with travel. ;)
Cool foxes, I’ve only seen two so far here in Arizona. It’s also been in the hundreds for weeks and weeks and weeks thank you lucky star you’re not here.😊
Stayed in the Carson City area for a week and I can still smell the dirt from the desert lol. Although it was my first time dispersed camping, I don't miss Nevada at all esp. in the summer. The strong winds making dirt go everywhere is just ugh as well as high temps. I'd be down to go back for the winter maybe--Pahrump in particular since BLM lands are just outside of town. California on the other hand was absolutely gorgeous around Lake Tahoe. I would've stayed in the Sierra Nevada area if gas wasn't so expensive in Cali.

The "shoulder seasons" in Tahoe (spring and fall) are MUCH more chill, especially on the weekdays. Also if you're willing to do a little hiking/backpacking it's pretty easy to get away from the hoards. I also hate being there when it's swarmed with people. Glad you got to take a dip at least! I live in California for the weather, food, and nature... certainly wouldn't mind if there were fewer humans. BTW it pretty much only stays cool on the coast and at very high elevations.
