Without a doubt Bloodborne is one of the greatest video games ever made and makes a very strong argument for being gaming perfection, an argument that I clearly side with. But what about Bloodborne makes it "perfection", well, time to partake in communion, so strap in boys and girls, and let's get down to business!

One thing I did not mention in the video is the Chalice Dungeons. I don't care for them at all but I don't really consider it a problem with the game since its entirely side content. What do you guys think? Does anyone here actually like the Chalice Dungeons, and if so, please explain.
I like them they have cool new enemies to fight, exclusive bosses, and give you access to the best blood gems, the tomb prospectors have done some really cool stuff with them
You can get some armor that is only unlock through them, the Old Flame Sage armor is very dark souls fashion and has some decent defenses. Also, the hack dungeons now are so fun to explore and to really help you break the game super early
The chalice dungeons suck *ASS* so glad they’re completely optional
Would have been better if they added the fix Charlie's to the main game, like under bythgenwerth. On that close door on the bottom of the place, then put the roots as an unlock to the hunter dream.
I feel it will have more of a natural feel like keep going to the center of the world to a new hell that you know that what you find it will fuck you over beyond repeat, but you curiosity is so insatiable that you keep going regardless of the danger
Maybe for Bloodborne 2?
I like the idea of the chalice dungeons more than the execution but considering I only got to play about a third of the game for the time I had it, I cleared plenty of them, too, maybe like 10? The bosses are fun to play and well designed, it's just great that, at least in theory, there's always more Bloodborne to be enjoyed.
I am a simple creature: I see a Bloodborne video essay, I click with rapid speed
Yea me too but I just drop a dislike and click off

If you think I’m going to sit thru ANOTHER 45 minutes of Bloodborne critique, from a yt channel I’ve never heard of before, you’re absolutely correct.
My sentiments exactly.
You just like me fr. I don’t even gotta search them anymore, they just show up on my recommended and I WILL click them.

i love how like once every month there is this incrediby long analysis of why bloodborne is so good 9 years later
Try like weekly, if not daily lol. Can't believe how many of these keep getting recommended to me.
Bloodborne's music will never NOT give me chills
Hypogean Gaol music had me thinking I landed in hell.
Father gascoigne...
I'm replaying the game again now for the umpteenth time, and I still get goosebumps in some of the areas, such as hypogean gaol and upper cathedral ward. The atmosphere is something else in this game.
When i heard the winter lantern lullaby i genuinely froze in fear…
Definitely was checking corners thinking it a "whoopsie" moment 💀😂😂💯

Aye, I guess. W/e that's means in term of bornes.
Bloodborne has the best Lore imo out of all the Fromsoft games.
Just thought about it yesterday...all things considered, Bloodborne still is my favourite Game of all time. ER is huge and awesome, yes. But Bloodborne just has this gravitas in it's themes, lore, plot, art style and...oh boy...music. The music really is something else: Beautiful, haunting, intense and insane.
The whole Game is just a piece of Art, no doubts.
Games like bb, nier, are do easy to get lost in. That's the best part to me, YOU feel like w hunter.
The story is just icing, the world and sound is wat you FEEL.
BB is still the only from soft game I can play though repeatedly and never get tired of it
Bloodbourne has the worst main game boss lineup aside from ds2. The enemies throughout areas seem to be too easy, or annoying due to their moveset or some random attribute they possess. The atmosphere and music are top tier though, as well as most of the dlc. I just don't know how people give this game over an 8/10 with the massive flaws it has.
@@n2053people like to slobber over artstyle and lore when gameplay should be the most important aspect of any video game ever made. Don't get me wrong, Bloodborne is a great game - it just can't touch DS, DS3, or Sekiro.
@n2053 I can see that. Some of the mechanics are annoying asf.
In the words of a great video game reviewer. “Byrgenwerth scholars were built different. We spend the entire game trying to kill an infant, but these guys somehow beat up the dommy mommy so hard, her consciousness in the 9th dimension died.”
Always great to get a Max0r reference.
Ha ha😂😂 i know who said that 🤣🤣
I was watching state of play today and so many people in chat were screaming Bloodborne. We get remakes of games like until dawn (which was free for the collection and ran at 60 fps on ps5) and last of us 2x yet bloodborne is left out to dry up.
It's criminal it still hasn't been remastered, yes last of us series gets how many..
Bloodborne was made in part with Japan Studio (who made Ico and Shadow of the Colossus). It was, in fact, Japan Studio that approached From Software about making the game together (I don't know how much of the game was realised by this point though). Said developers are no longer around, many of them have even left Sony.
It was all part of Sony moving Playstation from Tokyo to California.
Bloodborne is my favorite game , hands down . The only game I platinumed. Really hope they will do something for the 2025 anniversary
Bloodborne was my first soulsborne game. It got me into all the others, and for that i will forever love it
Same love that game
It's a surreal experience
Went to Bloodborne after Elden Ring
Bloodbore is my favorite game of all time ever. I just finished running through the game while my boyfriend watched since he wanted to watch someone who was good at it. OMG, the thrill of the hunt, the nightmares unending, the Eldritch truth, the pale blood moon. It was impeccable. I challenged myself to use different weapons and fell in love with the church pic and beast hunter saif.
The tussle with Ludwig, waltz with Maria, freeing Ghereman and the doll from their past transgressions against mother kos. It was an incredible time.
Fear the old blood good hunters, go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good 🥰
The first level is the the last supper of gaming level design.
Truly a Lovecraft work of art
The echo pickups by enemies is determined by location of the dropped echoes relative to the location of the enemies when they spawn in and path I believe, I don’t think it’s supposed to be the one that killed you. It’s like them actually picking the puddle up before you do
While I didn't really care for this mechanic, I really wish it would have existed in Demon's Souls, since it would have made by far the most sense lore-wise in that game.
I hate Rom the vacuuming spider. Constantly cleaning and tidying the lair
I love how Bloodborne "evolve" the fear within me. The enemies in Bloodborne are horrifying/intimidating/grotesque/aggressive/etc. - all the quality that induce fear. In other games, you're mostly the good overcoming the bad. In Bloodborne, you are the hunter and those horrendous enemies are your prey. You're becoming an even worse monster consuming those fear inducing abominations. It's "I'm the one who knocks" moment in not just gameplay but also the lore.
This is by far the best recap of Bloodborne's lore. How you make sense of it in such a short and smooth way is impressive. 10/10 vid, i'm sold again about this game
Bloodborne: a horror game about the inherit, visceral fear of having to spend a night in Whitechapel
Me 1 hr playing Bloodborne: Dude! This isn't where i parked my car...
Me 3hrs in playing Bloodborne: This is definitely where i parked my car!
Me running cursed chalice dungeons: where tf is my car! I want out!
But seriously, Bloodborne was my first Fromsoft soulsborne game and i loved 95% of my experience in it, the last 5% was the cursed chalice dungeons and i hated it but gotta get that Beast Claw and Queen Yharnam kill for the trophy!
Me 10hrs playing Bloodborne: I am the car!
U can look up the glyph for both to get the trophy without having to play through it all used to not be able to but thank God for zuli the witch lol
Me 200 hours playing Bloodborne: Grant us headlights! GRANT US HEADLIGHTS!!!
The actual reason a different enemy can end up with your echoes is because of how the system actually works. Your echoes are always placed on the ground, but if an enemy walks over them then they pick them up. Hence it often being the enemy that killed you, but not always.
I don't think this is true. There was an instance when I was down in the ground and got killed by a bomb throwing bastard AND he took my echoes. He wasn't able to walk where I died
@@artemdemenko2822 There are 4 possibilities. I’m wrong, you’re wrong, it was a bug, OR it’s a result of how your bloodstain placement is calculated. Your echoes/bloodstain are placed down on a 10(?) second delay. Hence fall damage placing your bloodstain above where you fell from, not where you died. So it is possible that 10 seconds before you died you were standing in a location where that enemy could get to. I could just be totally misremembering how enemies get your echoes though.
@@AlexBrogan96No, you are correct. I actually made a post explaining this as well, I've seen the enemies pick up my echos just as I got back. They are left on the ground until either you or the devil's porkchop picks them up.
What I find amazing is how people say the atmosphere feels like they don’t belong there. Meanwhile in my first playthrough I felt the opposite, my first thought immediately after getting access to central yharnam was. “Alright let’s hunt.” I felt like a hunter who was in a dark forest and just stepped into my prey’s territory. But at the same time as a dark souls player I understood that getting overconfident, like an actual hunt, could end up with me getting killed
You can shoot the winter lanterns and stagger them instantly resetting the Frenzy counter.
This was my first fromsoft game as well (technically) and my god, what a game! I view my gaming life in 2 phases. Before Bloodborne and after Bloodborne.
Bloodborne weapons are so good that you can legit take your starting weapon through the entire game and it’s actually viable the entire game as I did with the hunter’s Axe.
This is also consistent throughout all of Soulsborne games.
I hope that Elden Ring is still Talked about as much in 10 years as much as Bloodborne is after almost 10.
Oh it will my dear sir
Why is every so weird on here? My dear friend/ my dear
There no doubt about it.
@@jordansebert11Tis true indeed. Because a hunter is never alone. My lad.
I think both games are a masterpiece in their own sense
Winter Lanterns ARE scary, but I have never had any trouble killing them. All you gotta do is run straight up to them to bait out a grab attack. Fire your gun when their arms fling out at their widest and you can parry the grab, and get a visceral. The crucial part is getting the timing right so that you proc Frenzy DURING your visceral animation. Do it right, and even though you will technically have procced Frenzy, your character will take 0 damage. Makes killing Winter Lanterns a breeze.
The reason the blood echos are held by a different enemy when you come back is because they actually are left on the ground, so any random mob can pick them up if they happen to pass by. I've seen it happen.
I've played this game for years and I've never noticed the choir getting louder in hyerapn gol
Hypogean gaol :-)
I save my blue exiler to avoid their gaze and found it works
Yharnam might be my favorite place in any of these games. I was so excited when Bloodborne was announced, I bought the game before I even had a PS4. Also, I found Lawrence and Ebrietas harder than Kos. I really enjoyed Kos.
Bloodborne is my favorite video game of all time. Nothing comes close the only thing itching on my mind to play close to this game is Symphony of the night. But damn do I love bloodborne and the multiple builds you can make. I’m on 4 different profile and in multiple new game pluses. It’s too addicting.
Bloodborne got me into the souls genre. The atmosphere is insane, it starts out with traditional horror elements but then it descends into Lovecraftian madness. It's tied with Elden Ring as my fifth favorite game of all-time.
This game was my first souls-like game and it is a MASTERPIECE!!
Amazing video
I have been binging your soulsborne videos All day. You have a great voice and cadence for story telling with good offhanded humor moments like meme clips and your own mini skits. You tell great reviews that encompass the whole of the games worth while providing fair criticism. You have earned a subscriber who looks forward to your next video and wishes you all the best in your career. And remember, don’t you dare go hollow.
I think it's the most atmospheric game I've ever played, it's just amazing
i actually enjoyed Mergo's Wet Nurse
Bloodborne is my favourite game. Elden Ring almost beat it but because of Mountaintops, Bloodborne remains on top cause its absolute perfection from start to finish. Also Bloodborne has the best score/atmospheric music in any video game ever.
Yeah… no lol
@@DionPanday You either have not played Bloodborne or are unable to feel it. Cause only if you feel this game, you know what I or basically everyone with the same opinion is talking about.
@@EldenLord. I platinumed the game the month it came out, and played it for over 600 hours. If you truly think Bloodborne has the best score or atmosphere you desperately need to play more games because there’s games out there that does what Bloodborne does but better.

Good job, man! Enjoyed watching your video, thanks!
I installed this game back in dec 2023, played it for about 30-45 minutes, died about 10 times, and threw it away... a couple of months later (march 2024), I gave it another chance... have been fucking ADDICTED ever since... and this is coming from someone who played PES/MK for the majority of his "gaming" life
Replaying this atm. One of the greatest games ever.
Just “the”.
Fantastic video! Like you said, the atmosphere and the weapons are truly unmatched. I've been playing for 9 years this game, and I'm still doing new builds to try out all the weapons. Aside from the Saw weapons, what are your favorite 3?
Hmm. Boomhammer, Saif, and threaded cane!
the level design in this game is shockingly perfect. when doing speed runs, not only are items placed expertly along the path, but a huge number of areas match up the size of an area with the starting stamina that it had to be intentional.
BRO! I actually borrowed it from a friend who hated it HE couldn’t get past the Werewolf in the beginning LOL…. I got it played it for 20 mins and fell into the same frustration and wrote it off! THEN I PLAYED SEKIRO, and Loved it! Afterwords I went back to BLOODBORNE AND GOT TO FATHER GASGOINE! And very quickly realized the game was FUCKIN AMAZING! And just When I thought the greatness was over another buddy said ohh BTW GET THE DLCS!? I’m like WHAT,THEN my mind was COMPLETELY BLOWN After beating ORPHAN OF KOS! It was solidified that BLOODBORNE WAS MY FAVORITE OUT OF ALL THE SOULS GAMES! MINUS DEMON SOULS I didn’t vibe with that game out of all the fromsoft games! Shout out to armored core 6! Also a great game!
I see bloodborne video, I click bloodborne video.
Elden Ring, BloodBorne, and Sekiro are PERFECTION.
I'm sorry to say this my friend but you are objectively wrong.
The only game that is truly perfect here is bloodborne, with only a couple of flaws and then after it sekiro is very well made as well.
Now elden ring is the most flawed game from software has made, but it also is its most successful game, and that's objective as well my dear friend.
@@eliasfigarzon9813Very few flaws? All but 3 bosses are good, all but gherman have barely any lore. The entire lore of the game is even for fromsoft very bare meaning that you have to fill it all up with headcanon.
Elden ring has more lore for each remebrance boss then most bloodborne bosses combined.
Gameplay: Weapons are all really good, the idea of two in one is amazing and should return but it’s by far the easiest game and parry/visceral is just way to strong

Superb review video. I echo your thoughts mr. Zitiboi
I love the Winter Lanterns, they really elevate the game from action to horror any time you hear their singing. It also feels good to beat them up once you get a hang of them.
Btw this video has great editing, I cracked up every time I heard Micolash. He's such a goof.
Small correction, "Rapid Poison" is Bloodborne's version of "Bleed". "Frenzy" is Bloodborne's version of "Curse", though it is only fatal if you have 80% or less of your maximum health (as it takes away 80% of your max health if it procs).
I just restarted bloodborne with a new character because i missed the DLC and a few sidequests. Love the atmosphere and the boss design.
Father Gascoigne was the hardest boss in the base game for me. I‘m hyped to get destroyed by the DLC boss legends.
Thanks for this video. Was a lot fun to watch. 😄

The winters lanterns can be countered with parries as when you go for the visceral, you will i frame the frenzy.

Blood echoes do drop on the ground, but they are picked up by the first enemy, typically the same one that killed you, that goes across your bloodstain.
Love the Faith No More - Be Aggressive line
Did you do the secret thing you can do with the Brain of Mensis for a great item before you killed it?? It involves a gesture..

One of the best videos for bloodborne ❤
The reason random enemies will have your blood sometimes is bc they are other hunters so they can pick up your blood echo piles. If a different enemy picks your stuff up then the one who killed you will have them instead
My first platinum trophy.❤ bloodborne.
It really is. This should be next in line for a remake. Grant eyes to everyone... Even the PC player.
Sekiro is absolutely top notch too. Not just gameplay, but story wise.
FS really excels at novel IPs. I just learned the other day that a vaguely, fondly remember game from my childhood - Lost Kingdoms - was a fromsoft game.
They're just so creative, and are so good at telling at story

Just in time for my 294th play through.. Time for a bloodtinge run
Love the bloodbourne world, I got close to the end but my job pulled me away from finishing. When I turned it back on It was so long I didn't remember what I was even doing. Atmosphere and environment is awesome I don't really care to grind for blood stones. I don't find it fun just tedious.
As somebody who started out not caring for Chalice Dungeons after just playing through to Queen Yharnam, I learned to enjoy them on my 5th or so playthrough of the game, where I basically had to use them as a means to get Blood Gems for an Arcane build.
Chalice Dungeons are designed to be treated as a supplementary part of a playthrough. Think of how Elden Ring offers a ton of side content that is very samey. It's there as a way to level up and find new gear to catch you up to a new area or boss that's giving you difficulty. Chalice Dungeons serve that same function while also having a unique element. They don't scale with New Game cycles.
The highest Depth Chalice dungeons with all of the Offerings are as hard or harder than even NG+6/7. But the rewards are the strongest Blood Gems and Caryll Runes available to the player, meaning that if you brave the deepest depths during your first playthrough you'll come out on the other side more than equipped to handle the remainder of the game. And with the Tomb Prospector community having thoroughly figured out every element of how Chalice Dungeons generate you can now even access dungeons that have been custom generated in manners that aren't even normally possible, such as Curses stacked enough times to limit your max HP to 1, cut content enemies being generated in dungeons, and more.
Bloodborne will always be my Nr.1❤
I wish, the netflix castlevania creators would make a bloodborne series..
it’s no secret that the trick weapons are amazing, but it can’t be overstated how good the weapon balance is and how that makes every weapon not just fun and cool but viable
The woman talking during the cutscene at 41:45 is not Maria. It's probably taken from one of the villagers in Fishing Hamlet whom you can hear mumbling amongst themselves after you defeat The Orphan. Maria and the Doll have a distinct accent and therefore her voice would be pretty recognizable.
FINALLY, GOD IS GOOD!
DONT YOU DARE GO HOLLOW!
One detail that i don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about is that lore wise the rally mechanic happens because you absorb the blood of your enemies into your open wounds.
This is why it doesn't work with ranged attacks.
17:55 the song of the siren every bloodborne fan fears
Lost my mind when i saw these return in shadow of the erdtree the first time
Excellent review! Bloodborne remains my all-time favorite souls game, even after completing the Elden Ring DLC... so that's saying something. I hope there's a sequel some day... I can hope.
