- After traveling to various different locations across the world - Indonesia, Namibia, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, Komodo Islands, to name a few.
I managed to collect a fair amount of drone footage, some of which has never seen the light of day until now.
I really hope everyone enjoys the beauty of nature as much as I do and can find some sort of connection through the images you see in this video.

Disclaimer - I have been filming wildlife with drones for over 5 years now. I am always supervised by a highly trained field guide who makes sure the animals do not get harmed at all. I take many precautions to safely fly with animals and never put them in danger.

Dude that's amazing, but I'm just curious, how did you manage to get that 0:37 flamingos close up shot while still flying forward towards the flamingos without breaking your drone/harming flamingos. Risky af, don't know if I'd try that;) . was that with your mp2?

Amazing shots and great edit!! Not sure if chasing animals for the sake of getting a great shot should be done though. I prefer seeing them relaxed and not from behind.

So beautiful... What's the procedure to get permission to fly the Drone in Africa?
you always have to get permission to fly from the Civil Aviation Authority, and from the property where you are flying. not only that, but you need to adhere to all laws.

Hey can i ask, in the shot with the flamingos flying towards the drone. Is that an affect you used in premiere or after effects ? or are they actually flying right over each side of you
No that was purely a fly through. I used the Phantom 4 on this one, the reason being its a solid white drone and I then proceeded to put Very bright green tape on it, to make it even more visible to the flamingoes. Flamingos have really amazing eyesight and can see color just like us, therefore the won't collide with the drone. Have you ever seen two birds flying into one another? Same goes for the drone, as long as you fly at the same sort of pace as them and in the same direction as them, its. highly unlikely that you will collide. I am not saying that anyone should fly with animals, remember, I have been filming animals with a drone for over 5years now and I always have a professional and highly trained field guide with me that makes sure the animals aren't being put under stress, as well as put in danger.

Instant goosebumps in the open shots I knew I was in for a surprise! your aerial shots are in my opinion are on a different level to ANY T.V wildlife documentary I’ve seen (lots) superb drone control, subject, composition, light etc.
Chosen soundtrack was written for these shots!! I’m guessing most of the animals featured were already running and not just trying their best to get away from your drone?

Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words!! Yes the animals are generally chilled with the drone. They usually start running because of the vehicle being around. They are wild animals, so vehicles are still weird to them.

This is awesome man! Weren't you afraid of flying it around the seaguls?
Those weren't seagulls, they were flamingos. And no I wasn't, flamingos have excellent eyesight and see color extremely well too. I used a phantom 4 pro for those shots, its white and I put lots of very bright green tape on the drone, this ensured the flamingos to see the drone clearly in between the rest of the flock.

@@NaudeHeunis Where can I get such permits?
kurkl firstly you need to be fully licensed CAA compliant UAV pilot. You need to make sure which ever institute you use is endorsed by the ICAA, otherwise you license might not be accepted by other countries. Secondly if you are traveling to a new country, it is up to you as a certified pilot to familiarize yourself with their drone laws and requirements to safely operate your UAV in their country. Once you have done that, you need to follow the correct process, set out by the given country, to apply for permission and permits to operate your UAV in their country. Tips I can give you in such a process - apply early (min 2months) in advance, because some countries take a while to process your application, this give you enough time for an appeal, should your application be unsuccessful. This is to avoid disappointment (I learned the hard way). Then the biggest thing for a successful application is that you should never skimp on the information you put about how you will safely operate you UAV in the country and back it up with logging as much flight time as well. Lastly, i must say, this obtaining permits to film wildlife is not easy, but getting them for landscapes ect is generally successful. I hope this helps in some way or another. Cheers
