Spot on, i just said the same thing.... and Dave makes it sound perfect whilst doing so, you would think he would drop a note or 2 and maybe even lose that incredible beat/ timing.
The vocals for this song is legendary. This is by far my favourite Megadeth song (prolly entire thrash metal). The vocals before the solo is my favourite part. The bass, guitar and drums are soo litt.
So he wrote this song in 89 and it's still rifuckingdiculous. Your lesson is awesome. But I think you gotta be a little sick in the head to write a song this fast and this complex and make it sound this cool. I guarantee you there are thousands of guitar players everywhere trying to play this and cursing mustaine for writing it. Thanks again Bryan. You da man.
metalbryan101 how come on the second part of the first riff the first time you say to play on the 6th string 5-4-2 but on your cover you play 5-3-2? is this accurate?
Well let me just say that.. even with instant replay I cant say for sure what I was playing in the cover video...... but I can tell you my intentions were to play 5-4-2.
Dave Mustaine is a genius for writing something this awesome and tasty. It's a hell of a rhythm workout. This isn't any ordinary rhythm guitar... This is rhythm guitar from the mind of a metal genius. Btw you're awesome for doing this lesson, no one else would dare to teach such a difficult song
I appreciate Megadeth more and more each time I listen to them. Dave Mustaine is an absolute monster at coming up with riffs. Every Megadeth song has like 30 different parts.
Man, I truly am thankful for you putting the time and effort into breaking these riffs down. You have been a savior of sorts for me when I can't hear what the hells' going on. I play in a Megadeth cover band and I have to say....thank you!! and kudos to your interpretations!!! I have found them to be indispensable.
Thanks so much for making these videos, dude! Like I already 'know' the song but I realized I was playing some riffs differently. Like the verse riff for example. I never played it with the two open strings and that bar power chord. It totally changes the dynamic of the riff. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I play the riffs at 16:48 like you show in this clip. (I'm self-taught). Unto the next video!
I find Megadeth songs like these to be the funnest to play, specifically Mustaine's writing. So unique and complex, but once you get it down its just pure joy to play!
so awesome, your lessons are right on, and much appreciated. I regularly re-watch your cover of holy wars, and trip over your job of it, and that mustaine wrote this stuff.
Hey man, thank you so much for this lesson. I was trying to learn from video covers but, it is really hard to learn that way. You show the riffs in detail, step by step. I still can't play as fast as you and Dave Mustaine but, I will get there. Thank you so much dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dude great turorial! that 2-1-0-3-2-0-2-1-0-3-2-0-3-2-1-0 is killin my arm i love it! it has me workin alot!! could you possibly do a tutorial of how to play the solo to this song?
Fuck this is a hard song to play.... but as you said it's so much fun. How the hell does Dave sing and play this song and make it sound so good? Just amazing.
Lol. And Dave was on Heroin when he wrote this ( although I think he had given up by the time he had to record) and he was only around 25.... just amazing stuff.
dude i gotta tell you i love your videos there are other guys who show stuff but yours are the best.it really helps a lot thanks for being such a cool guy if i can ask ive been trying to learn a song from death voice of the soul .ive seen all the videos and if anyone can help me it would be you.do you think you could make a video on it thanks.
Did you figure this out yourself or get it from tab or sheet music? Your vid made it a lot easier to learn for me so thanks! I almost got it now, but I swear it's so freakin' fast that you could probably play the song every day of your life and still make mistakes!
the bit at 17:17 is the right notes but different position than Dave plays it. Watch him live and you can see he plays the same notes all on the sixth string, it's must easier to do too.
Is it because my equipment sucks? Or my amph equaliser is bad? Using stagg amph gain at 6, treble at 7, mid at 6, bass at 5 and using stratocaster (not the best equipment for metal but can't buy new guitar or amph now :( ) any suggestions?
I think you have a parting the beginning wrong. Your missing a 1. 2103 2105 2103 is what I hear to be the correct phrasing and its also the best tabs I could find. Kinda like how people get master of puppets wrong. I'm not trying to be a Dick but its a noticeable difference and relearning it right requires to change your hand position which just sucks if you already have the speed up and then have to relearn and speedup again. It won't matter to alot of people but some of us hate having to relearn something cause its slightly wrong
Leonardo La Rocca The only question about songwriting I would ask Dave is how he came up with Wake up Dead. That song is so random, complex and all over the place but in an amazing way, and that's just a rhythm part.
No fucking way man cant play it i mean fuck HOW learned how to play holy wars, wake up dead and alot of other songs becouse of you but i just cant do it man )=
Taggart Knutson Just go fuck yourself bitch I was thinking "Finally a place with Megadeth videos without a single 'Metallica vs Megadeth' shit comment" then you came up... just shut the fuck up
The two bands bring different things to the table. Megadeth definitely stays interesting for longer with their more stimulating musicianship, but Metallica are better at having the scope to capture people's imaginations.
@@metalbryan101 just part of the intro and part of the verse. But I could be wrong. I dont think the d and a string are open in the verse, I think you have to hold down second frets on the d string.
how can Mustaine sing while playing this song is beyond my comprehension.
soultenebrae Dave Mustaine. Dave. Mustaine.
Spot on, i just said the same thing.... and Dave makes it sound perfect whilst doing so, you would think he would drop a note or 2 and maybe even lose that incredible beat/ timing.

thanks dude… yes I can't comprehend what someone has to go through to invent this song… that guy is insane… Thankfully!

Thanks mate, this channel is really something special. So much respect
Songs like these are ones you listen to, to feel bad and remind yourself that you suck at guitar.
I appreciate Megadeth more and more each time I listen to them. Dave Mustaine is an absolute monster at coming up with riffs. Every Megadeth song has like 30 different parts.

Thanks man. I’m pretty sure I did it for guitarists who are in cover bands. I was sick of seeing cover bands play things wrong lol!
THANK YOU FOR THE LESSON ON ONE OF THE BEST SONGS IN METAL HISTORY, THANK YOU
Yup yup
Im going to go mentally insane trying to learn this song... but im gunna try cuz these are some of the sickest riffs I've ever heard. Dave is a beast!
Can you play it now?
@@maxjudge020 hopefully I've learned it in about 8 months so I'm sure 8 years should do the trick

finally made it through this first part. took me a week and i need to clean up the craziness at the end. these lessons are the shit
Full in sweat after 10 min of playing at original speed...
so awesome, your lessons are right on, and much appreciated. I regularly re-watch your cover of holy wars, and trip over your job of it, and that mustaine wrote this stuff.
The best lesson for this song! Amazing!
Massive thanks for taking the effort to make these videos. Sure there are tabs all over the net but your videos make it a lot easier to learn! \m/

Objective and simple. Thanks bro
Best channel in the game for this one!
Thank you. Great lesson, really helped lots.
yeah! that's exactly what happens when you are playing this song, it's amazing
My Exact experience. Bitch to learn, but Fun to play once you get it... Bryan, you break-off good lessons bro, keep them coming!
Good lesson, thanks man ;)
METAL BROADI MONTANA! YOUR AWESOME!
Thank you, you are not only a good guitar player, you also teach very well (sorry for my bad english)

Thank you sire. Your guitar sounds nice my man :)
damn those dave riffs so damn fast and heavy.. my whole arm hurts :DD
i definitely wanna learn this once i get better
Get better soon!
Well looks like it's time for me to give up on guitar
Blake Bruketta Hahaha… come on! learn holy wars or rust in peace first… save this one for last!
Lol. And Dave was on Heroin when he wrote this ( although I think he had given up by the time he had to record) and he was only around 25.... just amazing stuff.
@Sean Patrick *starts with Poison was the Cure *
thanks dude , you really help me out
"Ok, now the songs about to step in to high hear". Me: "Throws guitar out the window"
thnx a llot man!!!!!!!,helped me with the riff..cheers!!
This helped sooooo much
The pre verse I learned from ear lol. That was pretty easy for me
Thanks. Was having trble

so is what your saying is that I really need to learn how to alternate pick really fast right because I do not alternate pick that well

yes.. you may be right. But same notes nonetheless. Thanks tho.

Just play the open A string instead of 5th fret on the low E
Your welcome
Assem CR Ghannam I think Dave plays it at the fifth fret to have better control of the note
you're quite welcome
Guitar model?

Yeah , Guitar World magazine tabbed this song in their September 2018 issue. They list the opening part this way:
2-1-0-3-(3)-2-1-0-5-3-2-0-0
@@cverisimilitude3359 im confused, what is the correct pattern?
I think some of the beginning part goes
E---2-1-0-3-2-1-0-5-3-2-1-0

what pass on dave mind when write this song
Leonardo La Rocca
Lots of drugs.
Drugs and anger issues
Leonardo La Rocca The only question about songwriting I would ask Dave is how he came up with Wake up Dead. That song is so random, complex and all over the place but in an amazing way, and that's just a rhythm part.

Lol the intro is wrong in some parts

This song is beyond Metalica's capabilities, they are overrated and Megadeth is underated.
Taggart Knutson So... if Megadeth is too much good, why you are thinking about metallica? sandy fanboy
Taggart Knutson Just go fuck yourself bitch I was thinking "Finally a place with Megadeth videos without a single 'Metallica vs Megadeth' shit comment" then you came up... just shut the fuck up
Hilarious that even Mustaine and all of Met have gotten over their shit but you're still fuckin crying. Must take skill
