I bet that none of these guys thought that 11K people would be watching their evening of fun. Jimmy is truly a great man, who is obviously driven to create a living masterpiece that will never be finished. Please keep making more of these videos.
You made me blush Laser Dad! Thanks for all your kind words. If you haven't subscribed to Lunch King please do. Please go back and if you enjoy the track and racing video, forward it to your friends and family.
Outstanding! I clicked because my grandparents lived on Huron river Dr. & Northline road at Romulus. Mostly all farmland except the airport back then. I used to race slots at Ypsi . Wayne Hobby shop was heaven in the sixties!
I'm glad the video brought back such good memories Braddock. Go back and share this segment with your friends and subscribe because the guys are planning more videos about the track and more.
I feel like I'm really there at the race! In the words of Huey Lewis and the News. "I'm on new drug" It's that realistic. Keep em coming Uncle Jimmy. Luvin it!
This race from 2013 one from over 30 years ago or from last weekend all share the same thing. The wonder from seeing this track. Eyes darting from one detailed area to the next and then the cars are selected from the full gambit of just about any car to ever have raced. Then from that first trigger pull the years fall away and the age of gold is revisited. Jimmy Attard has not only created a one of a kind slot car track he has built a time machine.
Yes, Bruce. Sorry it took so long to reply. My track can run two analog cars at the same time with independent control using an AC transformer rather than a D power supply. We can run 8 cars of any make at one time. Each driver has two slots cut for him around the track. One on either side of the roadway. This allows for passing once a driver changes to the other slot. Thanks for your nice comment, my friend. Please go back and share Ryans Lunch King videos of our track with your friends.
Amazing work of art, the attention to detail is phenomenal. I was wondering if you could showcase how the passing is actually done on the tracks? Do the controllers have a trigger and a switch track button? Great stuff and thanks in advance for showcasing this.
Yes IVS, There is a switch on each controller that operates each drivers ability to switch to a separate slot on the opposite side of the track. Visit the Lunch King channel for the documentary that describes things. Go back and share this segment with your friends and subscribe because the guys are planning more videos about the track and more.
This layout certainly shows the devotion and labor invested in its creation. And it has accumulated an enviable worldwide social circle for its creator. Incidentally, although my calculation says a 1/32-scale car simulating 150 mph should move along the track at about 6.9 feet per second, Jimmy's cars seem faster. Or is it that they don't slow down much if at all for curves.
Sorry it took so long to reply Keith. As I've said in ot g er videos I suggest that all track builders bank e eryturn just a bit for smoother racing. Our AC power probably runs cars a hair slower than DC actually. We run without magnets pulling cars down so racing is far more realistic. Thanks for your nice comment, my friend. Please go back and share Ryans Lunch King videos of our track with your friends.
This so amazing. It's like real racing. The cars so close together and not able to pass at some points and able to pass at others. So how do we get this track replicated (at least in a small way) at some vendor, so we can buy it and have this at home? I don't have 30 years to build one of these... :)
Dave the laps are 150 long so if you change lanes to the opposite side of the track you have plenty of opportunity to pass your opponent before you get back to the lane changer. It's not as tough as it sounds my friend. Go back and share this segment with your friends and subscribe because the guys are planning more videos about the track and more.
Can these cars be speed regulated ? It looked to me like the cars were somehow scaled to the speed as well. I just picked up a HUGE box of about 30 1950's -1960's slot cars that are about 5-5 inches long ( Don't know the scale ) and I'm hoping to find a track. I would like to be more true to scale when I build so it would be cool if the cars could be slowed down to scale Thanks, Watching from B.C. Canada
Well I think I have to agree with you there Rik. Go back and share this segment with your friends and subscribe because the guys are planning more videos about the track and more.
CS please go back to the Lunch King channel and in the documentary you will find an explanation about lane changing on my track. It's far to deep to do in a reply my friend. If you haven't subscribed to Lunch King please do. Please go back and if you enjoy the track and racing video, forward it to your friends and family.
Oh I do r got to say that this track was designed and built ten years before digital. All cars on Northline are analog. Any make of car can change lanes. Please see the Lunch asking channel for all the info CS!
CS....Sorry it took so long to reply. My track can run two analog cars at the same time with independent control using an AC transformer rather than a D power supply. "Remember, you can't go faster than the car in front of you". I'm really confused by this track. Multiple slots so close you can't pass. What am i not understanding?
This track is the ideal road course slot car track...wish i had one just like it but maybe not so big :- ] @ Playback speed .5 the cars look more true to scale speed but e v e r y b o d y s o u n d s d r u n k...lol gotta mute sound then cool :-]
That's funny Rod. Sorry it took so long to reply. My track can run two analog cars in each slot at the same time with independent control using an AC transformer rather than a DC power supply. We can run 8 cars of any make at one time. Each driver has two slots cut for him around the track. One on either side of the roadway. This allows for passing once a driver changes to the other slot. Chrysler, there is one lane changing switch at the Hairpin turn where all cars are funneled to get her to go over the switches in single file. "ANYTHING" that comes out of Jimmy's collection is going to be awesome
I know, this stuff is timeless. I find it very soothing to watch and listen.
Jim my friend, even all the way up in on Vancouver Island Canada, you still never fail to amaze.. Another great show so thank you very much.
Tim .
That layout wasn’t drawn in a day……..beautyful even though I don’t understand how it’s done!

Thank you for those nice words Chris. You are too kind my friend.
Fantastic Slot car Room.Overwelb .
Love the early 60's and 70's GP cars.
looks like very clean racing considering the extra challenges involved.
Man that looks like so much fun!👍
These races are fantastic 👍👍😎
THEY EVEN SOUND LIKE CARS this is blowing my mind
As I understand it the cars have diodes and the track power is a train transformer.

Yeah a look at the controllers and some slow mo of cars switching would be fantastic

That is so cool
it is :-)
How the heck do you "change lanes" on a slot car track?
look at this video and please feel free to ask any question - we love our community

Now if we can just get our youth off the computers and on to the tracks we might get somewhere....
I can’t believe something like this rlly exists it’s insane
Lunch King, would you be able to record one of these races in the future with your equipment? Looks like this was recorded with a phone.
A new racing video is in the works!
@@lklunchking1674 Cool!!
Fantastic track! It must be tough to pass on however.

can you run a 1/24 scale car on it
Do you have a driver's perspective lap video?
Yes Terry. Go to the other videos Lunch King has on its sight. Thank you for following Lunch King. Please forward our work to your friends and family!
Your uncle is amazing this track is awesome
Love your videos and track. That one spotter is quite bothersome. Almost the opposite of spotter, more like a stop the fun type.

Is this a digital track as several cars are all using the same slot?!
