      You’re right that it’s difficult to play without mistakes. I actually think it is quite a difficult piece though! I know my students who worked on it really struggled. Also, Eb major is kind of a tricky key for whatever reason.

    This is a great piece for teaching many different theory concepts at once:
    - Secondary dominants and modulation
    - Pedal tones (think of how the opening sits on an Eb in the bass but oscillates between the I and V chords)
    - Motivic development
    - Sonata form

    This piece has such unrelenting tempo with the demands it places on the left hand. wow. Lisa makes it look easy when it's actually an endurance test. She makes it look so so very easy! It's not fair. LOL. Must practice. 48 HOURS PRACTICE NOW!!!

    • @mr.z9609
      @mr.z9609 2 года назад +6

      The reason she makes it look easy is because she's relaxed and is using forearm rotation instead of sheer finger power to get the notes out. Start slow, don't play faster than you can play comfortably, you will get there.

    • @LisaTahara

      Hmm do you mean in the alberti bass passages? You have to make sure that your wrist is completely relaxed and then you just gently but very quickly and lightly rotate your wrist/hand from side to side (almost like a hummingbird's wings)!

    Thank you so much for posting this. Your performance is absolutely impeccable. Do you have any suggestions for getting the left hand to move that fast?

    • @LisaTahara
      @LisaTahara  3 года назад +1

      Thank you, Brenda! 😊I would suggest ensuring that the left wrist & forearm are relaxed. A common problem is that students tend to lock their wrists and just try to play the 16th notes with their fingers (which is really difficult because of the extra tension). When the wrist is relaxed, the hand can oscillate from side to side quickly and execute the 16th notes so that they're light, fast and even. Hope that helps!!

    I have a question! Do you have any tips on how to play it so playfully while having it so fast. My teacher always says it needs to be more playful and stuff, and that I’m playing it too roughly but it’s so fast so it’s hard to control. (P.S I’m only 10 years old, so this level 8 is a bit hard for me 😅)

    I’m learning this song for my rcm exam and I decided to search it up on RUclips to hear how someone would play it. When I first heard you start playing it i could recognize it and thought this was a different song ,but as I listened to a few more seconds I realized this is the right song. So now I’m going to practice this song and make changes to it so that it actually sounds like how you played it 😂. I’ve already memorized 3 pages of the song and only now did I realize that I have a lot of changes to make.

    How do you play so clearly with all the dynamics? And make it soft and strong

    • @LisaTahara
      @LisaTahara  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for subscribing, Nyx! 😊 Playing with successful dynamics is all about controlling the speed with which you hit the keys (faster=louder, slower=softer) - it seems kind of obvious, but is tricky to do well so it takes a lot of practice. Practice playing soft and loud dynamics under tempo with small sections in the music at first until it's easier for you :)
