Ace tried to use the smoke guitar during his solo on Shock Me but it didn’t work. Everyone was bummed. When they came back for the Duece encore he had the smoke guitar again and said he’ll give it another try. I think he was just trying it out at the beginning to be sure it worked and then let it rip later in the song.

Because it malfunctioned during Shock Me. I guess his tech got it fixed so he brought it out for his encore.
Smoke bomb goes off ahead of time...while Ace playing, just a split second slower than the rest the band.
