I played through the campaign 5 times without ever knowing about this maneuver. Maybe it's easier to figure it out on Xbox... On my HOTAS, X is for radar, so why in the world would I press that to do a maneuver? I didn't realize this maneuvering option existed until today. I also beat AC6 without realizing High-G was a thing in the game. Dodging missiles was real "fun" without knowing about that.
The Square button (X for Xbox users) is used for High-Gs if your accelerating. Hence why the braking gear kicks into action upon clicking and holding. Also, for anyone possibly confused, this tutorial works the exact same way as the HOTAS One.

It's a nice part they put in the game, they're slowly reaching the potential for extreme realistic fly.
