Interesting mix......the visual is indeed from his screen test in Hollywood in April of 1956, but the recording heard here is his soundtrack recording of the song in 1960 for "G.I. Blues" when one of his fellow Army guys played it on the jukebox while Elvis was trying to sing a different song in the movie, and it started the only fight he had in the film since he and his combo buddies on stage weren't very happy with the interruption......watch & listen when you get a chance......God Bless Always!!!

Hi Dani....this video clip was a demonstration clip ordered by film producer Hal Wallis...which has Elvis lip synching to his own pre-recorded track...to see if he would be worth taking a gamble on for the Big Screen.
    Keep up your brilliant work.👍

Awesome version of a classic tune. Thanks for your reaction Dani. Since I became a RUclipsr 4 years ago, I have come to appreciate Elvis and his music much more. I came of age in the 70's so Elvis was a bit before my time.

As great as this is, EP's 1968 comeback special performance of BSS is even better IMO.

His Singing was beyond Compare, he was Awesomely Charismatic and (for the Ladies) Easy on the Eyes.
HAVING SAID THAT, his only "Drawback" was that the Guitar was nothing but a Prop. Elvis admitted on Several Occasions that early on he only knew 3 chords and the guitar was nothing more than a "Dance Partner" for him.

Jane H commenting ….Yay, it’s Elvis day, & a lovely young Elvis …. He was beautiful at any age, but always a joy to see him performing in the 50s. I believe he was doing a ‘test’ before making a movie, called ‘pictures’ back then. Great song. Great Reaction. Subbed for your Elvis Reactions. He was ridiculously amazing, as you say.

Elvis! Was at a John Denver Concert and after a short intermission John came back and said he had spoken to Colonel Parker and Elvis was coming to Dallas! So we saw Elvis months later, he passed away the next year, my first album I bought as a kid was the soundtrack to “Speedway” thanks for sharing your reactions!

Its hard for me to listen to alot of the early RCA, overproduced studio reacordings of Elvis, Scotty, Bill and DJ. Not saying they werent good, but imo, the most magical thing about Elvis, was his ability to connect with his fans, through his raw vocals and live performances. The same thing goes for Scotty's raw picking style. Guess thats why to me, the key to what made Elvis, Elvis, was the recording style of Sam Phillips, back in the 50's. Some people may think that Sam's recording technique's were primitive, and that the sound from those recordings was amatuerish [If thats even a word. Which I highly doubt. 😆]. Even in one of his press conferences, when asked by a reporter, if he ever listened to any of his old Sun recordings, Elvis laughed and said, they "sound funny", and "There's alot of echo". I have to disagree on that. I think Sam Phillips was a genius, when it came to getting the sound he got, from all his artists. Including Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, and all the Blues guys, like Howlin Wolf, BB King, etc. He was one of the very few producers, who not only found a way to capture a great sound, but he was able to do so, without losing any of the raw emotion from the artists singing and playing it. All these overproducing record companies, seem to only have one goal, and that is to produce a generic sound, of what a textbook might define as being the perfect sound. Sam Phillips, came up with a recipe, for a perfectly imperfect sound. The big studio's, as time passes, continue to get farther and farther away from what makes music relatable. Its getting harder by the day, for us to emotionally connect with artists. They call singers artists, so they need to be allowed to earn that title. Either that, or they need to stop calling them artists, and just call them what they have become. Which is sound makers. What do I know though? Im just a backwoods country boy, who has never created an album.

Carl Perkins who wrote this song said he overheard a couple on the dance floor at a diner or someplace. And they actually had that argument. Hey babay stay off a my blue swuede shoes. Guess she'd stepped on them. Elvis was a stud. Eddie Murphy does the greatest impression of him in his concert standup movie DELIRIOUS.

How is it possible that you haven't reacted to every single Elvis performance and song already? You know there are a lot of more talented artists than Elvis out there that you have never reacted to here. He's been dead for nearly 50 years and was not a musical genius. It's time to broaden your horizons, girl.
