- In early 1931 Ford Motor Company was suffering from the effects of the depression. Sales were dropping and so was their share of the market.
A plan was hatched to keep the Ford brand at the front of everyone's mind and remind the world of the company's dominance in the history of the automobile.
On April 14th 1931 a Town Sedan body was dropped onto a chassis at Ford's Rouge Factory in Dearborn and was immediately put out on an 8 month tour of the United States that covered over 30 states and close to 50,000 miles.
Here's the story of that car and Ford's brilliant marketing plan that followed.

I grew up about 5 houses down from the owner of this car. His Dad was the one who purchased the car. It was in storage at the family farm for many years, so we never saw it. He was a car guy. Everyone on the street had Impalas and F150's - he drove a Bugeye Sprite.
Where the hell is the 20 millionth black and decker drill, or the 20 millionth I phone, or the 20 millionth matchbox car…..the world should embrace its milestones regardless of its seemingly mundane existences….the 20 millionth McDonald’s burger…???
I've always loved the Model A. I owned a Model A pickup way back when, sadly, I had to sell it. One of the worst mistakes I ever made! I still have the spare engine I had for it, maybe I'll get lucky and own another A before I meet my Maker!
It should hold PRIDE OF PLACE at Ford head quarters FOREVER MORE!!!!
20 million. Just think about that for a sec.
Shouldn't that be Edsels Milestone Model A. The Model A wouldn't exist without Edsel.
A new Ford today wouldn't make it.😢
That 20,000,000 is a dandy excuse to give a car a break.
AHH, THOSE WERE THE DAYS ! THE MEMORIES OF NEW CAR SHOWINGS AT EVERY DEALERSHIP ! THIS WOULD ALL HAPPEN IN NOVEMBER OF EACH YEAR ! IT WAS A VERY BIG THING, HOT DOGS, SOFT DRINKS, MAYBE ICE CREAM, IT ALL HAD A CANIVAL ATMOSPHERE ! THESE EVENTS PRETTY MUCH CEASED IN THE SIXTIES, TV ADVERTISING TOOK AWAY OUR ON SITE NEW CAR SHOWINGS ! KINDA SAD, BUT I STILL HAVE THE MEMORIES !
Didn't Edsel get a bollocking from Henry for even making the car? Henry couldn't let go of the Model T even though it had long passed its use-by date. The Model A was deemed unnecessary by old Henry because the T was still selling and didn't need a replacement...
I had an opportunity to sit in that at Iola car show before it was roped off from the public, quite an awesome restoration from what I heard.

El que lo tiene al dia a día y ve estas historias es conmovedor .
Gee, old Henry was full of angles.
Apparently they weren't too interested in the 25 millionth Ford. Great video!
