Absolutely thrilled! I didn’t think I would ever see pictures of them and I couldn’t stop looking at the photos. One of them I put on my phone for my lock picture. Wouldn’t it blow their minds that we can do that?!
I was stunned to find a picture of my 2x-great grandparents. As bad as I am at identifying faces, the facial features of my 2xggf are prevalent in his grandkids.
"We search for that piece of ourselves that lies within them." Beauttifully put. I found photos of my mother's grandparents on Ancestry which she had never seen. It was like looking through the looking glass or traveling back in time. You look in their eyes searching for some part of yourself.
I recently saved to my tree on Ancestry a photo that a cousin had posted of my great, great grandmother and all four of her siblings. I had done a lot of research on the Webster's because her father had died when they were all little in Vicksburg during the Civil War. So exciting.
This stuff is so powerful!!! Im gonna cry when I get my results.. im gonna find out about REAL people who lived their lives and fell in love and now im here.. this is awesome
Hi Michal! Thanks for stopping by. We hope you enjoyed this episode of the show as much as we did! We wish you all the best with your results when you get them! 🌳💚
I just found photos of some of my ancestors and yes, it evokes such intense emotions. I'm very sensitive to energy so it felt like our timelines were literally overlapping. Surreal indeed.💝🙏😇
My mother and Aunt have a half sibling they've never met. My grandfather had a child with a German woman during his deployment in the Korean war before he was married to my grandmother. There is another family out there that we don't know.
Hi there and thank you for reaching out to us. Have you considered taking a DNA test? Our test is a great way of finding biological family as it will match you with any relatives who have also taken our test. DNA testing is becoming increasingly popular; there are currently 20 million people (and counting) in the AncestryDNA database and many of our members have found siblings, parents or cousins with our DNA test. You can message your matches for free which means members are able to collaborate with each other on their shared family history. We will include an article here that explains how you can best find biological family with our service: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Finding-Biological-Family. For an insight into what you could expect from the test, check out the following article: support.ancestry.com/s/article/What-to-Expect-from-AncestryDNA?language=en_US. Please let us know if you have any questions.
You know what would be an astounding creation? Imagine a HUGE family tree engraved on the ground somewhere that shows relationships of every person alive today, going back perhaps a few hundred years. We could *SEE* how closely we actually are related to each other.
@@AncestryUSThe amount of work needed to make such a thing possible boggles the mind though. Maybe a crowd funding could get such a thing off the ground.
@@goochI034Oh it's definitely a pie-in-the-sky dream. It would be interesting to hire a company to at least do a cost analysis to see what would be required. I imagine most of the money would be tied up in doing the research in everyone's family history not the actual engraving (which would also of course be super expensive - and HUGE).
Imagine when Christ resurrects all our family and loved ones and being able to hug, touch them and talk to them? if pictures makes us cry of joy imagine the joy of being with loved ones that have passed
Question for you. When that happens, are the relatives who are unknown (maybe illegitimate, maybe as a result of secret affairs of otherwise married people) to each other going to meet? Are the secretly given up after birth? Are those murdered by a family member going to get along with their killer? Just asking!
Hello Jay! We appreciate your interest in Ancestry and in learning more about your family history. It's true that hiring a professional genealogist is an investment, but most of the services we offer via Ancestry.com are aimed to assist anyone who wishes to conduct his/her own family research. Have you tried to trace your family this way so far? We're always happy to provide guidance and advise on how to get started. A subscription would give you access to search for information across historical records and databases. You can read more about the subscription service here: support.ancestry.com/s/article/What-to-do-with-an-Ancestry-Membership. We offer subscriptions on different levels, depending on needs, starting from $24.99 for one month. My genetics are so boring. But I had great grandparents til I was a young woman of 20. We know our history. I know the folks on the show are happy to learn some lost parts of theirs.
I did some digging on my own family history, because my great grandfather is adopted, and I found the name and burial place of his biological mother, but 1. I don't know what she looks like, and 2. I also don't know who his biological father is, he's never mentioned in the birth records, so that leads me to believe that my bio great great grandma was asssaulted or something
Anyone financially able to pay for this research can get it done, but people are more likely to want to watch stories about celebrities. Celebrities are probably paying for the intensive resources necessary to go to Europe and Asia, or wherever the info leads them..
Because of the beauty in medical science (DNA Test), my family came to know in 2020 we have “a new sister”. Our new sister thought she was all alone…Boy! was she wrong! lol! She has 12 other siblings from her biological father! Yep! Our father produced 12 children with our mother and one child with another woman. The woman gave the baby girl up for adoption. Here is the kicker … she looks exactly like our daddy & has his color eyes while the other 12 of us that he created with our mother … all have dark hair & eyes like our mother.

Not a celebrity but try to my ancestors. All you will find is my mother's side. My dad was adopted & nobody on my fathers adopted side never liked or loved me & vice versa. My mother & her mother were the only people in my family left.
I should also add my great-great-great-grandmother got pregnant before she got married and was forced out of the town in New Koman. Austria. I have a photograph of the town I think I spelled the name wrong .

One look at my mothers great grandfather and her uncle there's no denying that he was one of Abraham Lincoln's children. My family history falls all into line. And it wasn't a secret. Sadly, there's no way to prove but it would be nice to be 100% sure

How did you feel seeing pictures of your ancestors for the first time?
