    the decline of the Branchline in Southern Ontario.Featured is my home town of Hanover, Ont. We also get a look at the CN & CP operations in places such as Owen Sound, Goderich,
    Woodstock and much more.

    That was a great video, but as of being a Railroader out of Stratford Ontario a very hard video to watch, I remember a lot of these places which no longer have rail service, if Canadian national would have gone private 10 years earlier a lot of those lines would still be there,

      I remember these Gp;s going up these lines taking transformers up to Kincarden , from Stratford to Palmerston, Stratford to Fort Erie, Stratford to Sarnia, all gone . Hensel elevators what more rail service but the GEXT won't up grade the track. I always thought Budd cars would work well on these lines for Passenger service but a lost item now too bad.

    I remember switching the truck to New Life Mills I remember that diamond well. I also remember taking cars and keep you real in Collingwood going down the street and then backing them down to the elevator it seemed like a waste of time and see if he would bring them up and we could not.

    I love the Owen Sound, Hanover, Goderich footage. A line that should be restored with passenger service. Albeit there are a lot of videos on YT of the Woodstock sub, I'm looking for more video of rail through Elgin County end-to-end. If you have actual vintage footage of passenger trains operating through the area that would be serious shiznitz. I'm also on the hunt for 'Dayliner' videos, a passenger budd-car operation from the late 60s to mid-80s which operated between Havelock and Toronto. Railtime Media is the real deal.

    A lot of people do not know but the original TTC in Toronto got all of his gravel from the Durham Ontario gravel pit 150 car hopper trains could be seen coming out of the Durham pit that pit is almost finished today coming down the hill into Durham on Highway 6 you could sit for half an hour waiting for a train to cross the highway full of ballast for the TTC

    This Lane and any branches connecting to it will never see trains again and it's most of the right away has been built on take palmiston for instance they have built a park and houses on the old yard property. Owen sound is no different the entire line is disappeared in a lot of places. I always argue that this line should have been saved but no one listened. Accessing the CN green terminal in Owen sound was a great idea for seeing because CP used to have to cross with only two cars at a time we'll see you in locomotive down the street line to an end then shut back towards the elevator. You CP brought 100 car train up you would take days to get all cars over to the CN side CN was making money CP was not.
    I remember alone gp38-2w switching two cars of time that came up from the CN with one engine and one van

    I remember that run we rebuild the truck all the way to the nuclear power plant period only to tear it up a year later period that way we could tell the government that the line was a financial loss cost too much to maintain. What a joke

    Why was there a diamond at Hanover?

    • @RailtimeMedia
      @RailtimeMedia  4 года назад +1

      The diamond is where the interchange track crossed to connect the CN to the CP line.

      @@RailtimeMedia Thank you they were not many customers left on the line in those last few years just New Life Mills in Hanover, North Wellington Coop in Harriston and Starcraft trailers in Listowel. When did the trailer company stop using rail and close down? Did the Mills in Palmerston use rail by then? Anyother customers?

    • @RailtimeMedia
      @RailtimeMedia  4 года назад

      @@Trainsbigandsmall I think that's about all that was left in the end. The trailer company in Listowel was Starcraft. Not sure what happened to them ? They might have run up to the elevators in Owen Sound but I was not able to capture any of that traffic.
