I’m not sure, but I think that hackers can get into your device from whatever they are, and do whatever they want. Like a virus! If they know that number! I’m not sure, it’s just my opinion!

You can use it to make a copy for some reason
Some countries need fill in serial number for warranty registration, if someone used it, you cannot register again.
