Petrino hasn't been intriguing since Lamar's Heisman year.

Your point is well taken. We Hog fans do not know what to expect from the coming football season. I attended my first Razorback game in 1965. Ark vs TCU. Am lifelong fan. Have got to the point I ignore preseason hype. I simply wait for the games to be played. I now take all wins or loss in stride. But I never stop loving the Arkansas Razorbacks. Fortunately for me, I am a baseball fan. Hogs doing well on the diamond.

Josh, next time you’re in Fayetteville, you have to go Hammontree’s down on Dickson! They make some of best and unique grilled cheese sandwiches!. I first heard about your love of grilled cheese during the Great Taziki Grilled Cheese Fiasco of 2023. I wish I could’ve told you about Hammontree’s when you visited in 2022.
Just about sums up Arkansas. Bland, boring, will get the job somewhat done but isn't very satisfying. That's why a grilled cheese is a side dish and not a main course.

I am late to this episode because I, an Arkansas fan, have been sleeping on Arkansas after last years disaster. I love how you handled this and how you spoke about Arkansas. We don’t know anything other than we can expect a different offense. Of course I HOPE we have a great year, but again we don’t know anything.
What Josh said, in a nutshell, is that there are so many "ifs" about the Arkansas team, that we will not know the answer till we play the games. Those of you who read the comments first, I just saved you 5 minutes and 47 seconds of RUclips watching time. BTW, the same comment applies to every team in the country - we don't really, really know what they have till they play the games.
The problem every school has is this: how do you get players to come to your university?
- Can you throw a lot of money at them?
- Are your facilities better than your competition?
- Are you in a superior conference compared to your competition?
- Are you a national brand?
- Are you the flagship university in a talent-rich state?
In the case of Arkansas, they can't throw around a lot of money, their facilities aren't better than their competition, they're not a national brand on the level of Notre Dame, and while Arkansas is the flagship university in its state, Arkansas isn't particularly talent-rich. Before 2012, they could poach kids out of Texas and Missouri by simply being an SEC team, but with the addition of A&M, Mizzou, and now Texas and Oklahoma, that window is basically shut. Until something in this formula changes, the expectations for an Arkansas year should be a winning season with hopefully a big scalp or two.

their facilities are better than most lol. They aren't throwing money around is what the #1 problem is. talent in the state is subpar, But Texans love to come there, Even when they were in the SWC they didn't have problem grabbing Texas kids. Weren't the top recruits but only so many will go to Texas or A&M.
@@TheRealSpenco The question isn't are their facilities better than South Dakota State's, it's are theirs better than that of Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, Mizzou, and LSU, because that's who they're trying to steal players from.
Arkansas has better facilities than many schools do, and thanks to the rise of NIL, most schools will not be wanting to drop 10s of millions on remodeling or new construction projects.
So I’d disagree with you on that point, Arkansas is likely ahead of most other schools when it comes to facilities and NIL being able to work together

I’m a lifelong Arkansas fan and learned my lesson a long time ago. Unfortunately it seems some people will never learn. As far as I’m concerned we’re a bottom dweller until proven otherwise on the field. I’m not wasting my time and energy thinking about what-ifs.

Josh love your show. As a die hard razorback fan I couldn’t agree more. Too many unknowns at this point. Revamped OL, transfer QB, Petrino returning. I’m excited but hesitant because the last 2 seasons have been underwhelming in 2022 and abysmal in 2023. I think giving Petrino full control of the O is a smart move for Sam and he’s focusing more with the OL this year which has nowhere to go but up from last year. Our D lost some players but I do have more faith in this Def staff than the previous. Heck we were in some close games last year even with our putrid offense. If Petrino can even get us to being relevant again on O(he greatly improved aTm’s O last year with Jimbo meddling too much) I think we can hit the over on wins. We’ll learn quickly enough what kind of team we have traveling to Stillwater week 2 of the season.

not really, it’s manageable if you play competitively enough. no bama or uga. play texas, tennessee, and ole miss at home. going to Bedlam will be rough but you play your cards right, you go to a bowl
It's an annual tradition to have the hardest schedule in college football. This actually looks a little easier to me.

I’m honestly shocked at myself for watching my first YT video about Arkansas football since about 4 games into last season. I’ve pretty much given up on Arkansas football…haven’t even looked at hawgsports since October of last year. Especially with the basketball team flopping as well…I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before the Diamond Hogs fall apart…probably with one out to win the national championship.
I want too hope but I’m at a state where the hope is gone and won’t believe it till I see it

We could be really good, for us that would be 8-9 wins... Or we can miss or barely make a bowl game.... There's just too many unknowns. Our defense should be solid, minus the linebackers, they're a huge question mark with zero depth. Skill guys on offense should be good, QB should be okay, offensive line... I'm scared to see.

You need to remember who we are. We’re Arkansas. We underperform and lose winnable games. Realistically we could finish anywhere from 3-9 to 7-5 anything better or worse is just unrealistic. But come on. We’re Arkansas like I said. Which is more likely? Us to pull another embarrassing shit show season or all the stars line up and God decides to throw down a miracle and we actually decide to play good ball and win some games? Give Petrino full control of an SEC offense and see what happens. They were a great offense two seasons in a row before Enos, it wasn’t a talent issue last season and with Petrino we certainly won’t have an offensive coaching issue. The o-line is a great example, it’s not just they COULD be better, it’s that they SHOULD be, they were top five in the SEC the two seasons before last season and the o-line is the most talent loaded position on the team.
Went to the Arkansas vs Miss St game last year and it was the worst football game I've ever seen.

If that is the case then mid and lower tier SEC teams are as well, since Arkansas does beat them. Comparing Arkansas with Conference USA is pretty dang funny being Conference USA don't play multiple SEC teams every year with past national titles.

How does Sam Pittman still have a job?
couldn't find anyone that wanted the job for what the university is willing to pay.
Also, I think the program was a lot better than what their record shows. 6 of their 8 losses were by an average of 6 points and all but 1 of them they had a chance to win in the last minute or so. 5 more 1st downs added to the season at the right time and they could have been a 9 - 3 team + bowl game. Defense was good enough, offense was horrible.
@@ChadRazorback Your first point is not fully accurate. We have the money to pay a good coach, but up until the end of this past season, we were still paying for Morris' buyout. So if they fired Pittman, not only would they have to finish paying off Morris' but now Pittman's massive buyout as well. If Pittman is fired after this season, he'll only cost half the price and we'll have more money for a new coach.

Arkansas doesn't have the niltobe competitive
The Hogs will play hard, especially the offense - Petrino will see to that. But they will not win more than 5 games, probably 3-4. The age of NIL/transfer portal is not going to work out very well for Arkansas. We belong in the AAC.
