classic Vinny completely breaks all the settings before the stream even starts lol (tbf this is actually a major issue with zdoom: the the thousands of graphics options are so user-unfriendly, especially when you really don't need most of them, and compat options are also really good at breaking maps if they're set wrong)
I personally feel like this stream has done an injustice to the original authors of the mods streamed. A lot of the mods played in this compilation are multiple mods combined together, most of them grouped up into one name, and overall it was a very uninformative showcase. 1. The mapset that Vinny's playing along with Contra Doom does not come with Contra Doom, it is a separate mapset by the name of Valiant, created by Paul DeBruyne (skillsaw). What this compilation has failed to acknowledge is that skillsaw has made a vaccinated edition that would've been perfect to combine with Contra Doom's enemies (the red archvile is Valiant's custom enemy, not at all used by Contra Doom). 2. Whatever version of Brutal Doom 64 Vinny was playing is most certainly not the original one. The real Brutal Doom 64 started off with you and your marine buddies assaulting the main complex where D64 take place before finally starting off the actual D64 maps. I suspect this strange custom version is also why the other weapon crashed Vinny's GZD. 3. The other mod Vinny is playing in that one Pokemon Doom map is called Netronian Chaos. It is a gameplay mod that has a lot of weapons, enemies, and plenty of mechanics that changes how the original Doom is played. What baffles me the most is that Netronian Chaos has had a mappack built specifically for it called Bungle in the Jungle! To see it combined with a completely unrelated mod and all grouped up into one Pokemon Doom name is just unfair to the original author, who have worked hard to made the gameplay mod in the first place. 4. Whatever silly map that was bundled with Ultra Crispy, it was a most unwise decision. Leaving it as is as a gameplay mod would've worked out just fine. At the very least the compiler could've used the various ZBlood vanilla variations that have been made throughout the years instead of picking this once again completely unrelated mod. 5. The Dark Forces mod played is created by Lex Safonov. This one irritated me the most as its obvious that whatever map that was bundled in this combo had its own gameplay changes that didn't play well with Lex's mod (the dash bit was not at all part of the DF mod). Also, there are a lot of maps that uses Dark Forces textures, from The Darkest Hour to Doomed Space Wars. What manner of madness does it take for the compiler to think that a D64-aesthetic map would fit well with Dark Forces? 6. The Doom 3 mod Vinny played is also a combo of mods. The map itself is created by Deimos Anomaly, and is supposed to be a Doom 3-style remake of E1M1. The map had no additional weapons or enemies added, so its obvious that whatever mod added on top is not of the original. Once again, no information is given on any of the mods played. 7. Yes, Vinny has played Metroid Dreadnought before, but this version Vinny is playing is very much a different beast entirely. It's not made by the original author (TerminusEst13) for one, for it is now named Metroid Dreadnought Overhaul, put together by R4L. As expected, the compiler has merged in a random mappack unrelated to the gameplay mod itself and calling it a day instead of leaving it as it is. 8. The Super Mario Doom mod is once again, a compilation of mods unnamed. The mappack being played is not at all from SMD itself, and is actually named Super MAYhem 17, a megawad that was created in a joint collaboration by Doomworld Forums members across May and June 2017 (hence the MAYhem name). The mappack itself did not at all have monsters or weapon changes, though some items are replaced. There's probably many more that I missed, and I deeply apologize if I missed them, as I'm not even that big of a connoisseur of Doom modding. However, I feel like Vinny should've atleast read the readmes of these mods and give the authors proper acknowledgement instead of this rapid fire shotgun SOMEBODY MADE THIS DOOM WAD ISN'T IT COOL OKAY MOVE ON NOW attitude. This compilation needs to be dropped in my honest opinion. A lot of the mods played are not at all single mods, but multiple mods grouped up together, confusing Vinny on which mods are which. Thanks for the great write-up. I knew something was wrong because of the fuckload of errors throughout, but I've only rarely used Doom wads, so I didn't recognise any of the actual wads shown. I totally agree with everything you said. The major issue isn't just that there's no credit to the wad devs, but that you can't even find real information on a lot of them because they're under incorrect names. This is the only time I've ever found stuff on a Sunday stream not being named correctly. Hell, you can probably even find the Android Trash apks with a quick Google. Even just telling the viewers and Vinny himself at any point that they were *combinations of wads* that might have issues would've been better, because the expectation is different. But instead we get this absolute shitshow of combinations that straight up make the individual wads all look worse compared to what they would be alone. The only combination that somewhat worked was the Super Mario one, but that's because the weapons and enemies were basically just texture replacement, and the maps were for vanilla Doom. Not only that, but I was concerned about whether Vinny was using an outdated version of GZDoom or some shit given all the errors that came up: and knowing that shit kept being buggy detracted from actually enjoying the stream. Sunday stream compilations need better vetting. :(

It's a Wadsmooshed wad. Wadsmoosh is a tool that can combine all major IWADs together (IWADs to those who don't know are basically Doom's internal files, where stuff like maps/sounds/sprites/etc are placed). If this compilation were to be released, Vinny would essentially be committing piracy.
I agree that the biggest issue is the lack of credit. I did post credits in the ReadMe with the pack. I commented with custom maps above. Doing this away from my computer so I can only say that you made a lot of good points, I think you should send Vinny the next Doom pack. Previous Doom packs seemed to mainly just be the ones that got featured on Doom Mod Madness. Just compile a bunch of mods he hasn't played & he might enjoy and give him instructions.
You understand that the only file that sharing would be piracy is the combined doom.wad? I did this to make the pack modular, so he wouldn't have to setup much of anything, all the path references would be preserved. Also, if you would like a link to the pack - I can give it to you. It is not an issue.
Golden Souls is super heavy computer graphixs wise. you need really good hardware to run it. Idk how Batandy makes it so amazing. The system requirements for it are nuts. considering all the 3D models and effects.

I've actually had the same "If you could only own 1 game" thoughts about Doom and yeah, I'd say it's broadly speaking the best choice one could make. I've always called Doom "The most valuable game you could ever buy", because for a measly 10€ for both it and Doom 2, you get more out of that money than any new 60€ game could even promise you.
I have over 1200mods, 5000 maps and a whole bunch of addons for Doom and all its descendents like strife, heretic and stuff and I love it.... It's absolutely amazing what doom became... And all of these mods I play on my smartphone... I also have half life, quake 1 2 and 3, Rtcw, shadow warrior with all dlcs on my smartphone but mostly I play doom mods... And man there are some really impressive ones out there...

We had 4 prime games and 4 mainline games + spinoffs and remakes, but apparently unless Samus is equal to Mario or Zelda it's a neglected property. I still remember the shitshow over Federation Forces, despite the game being good... for the way they act you'd think Metroid was F-Zero or Pikmin.

I think he played Soundless Mound in the previous getting doom with it, Looking around from the comments and research on alterra, I discovered the creator vanished from the internet and never finished that wad. The nature of that wad would also cause Vinny do go through it too quickly and complain it's confusing. There were dozen of non-euclidean wads in 2018 competition, the only wad that had the word shrine was shrine of doomguy which was that wad where joel was complaining about the archvile placement and having to redo the wad in a aforementioned part later. There was however a wad called mirror world or something similar to that where it was heavily non-ecludian which i believe joel revisited after nocliping across it for 25 minutes trying to make sense of it.

The problem is that Vinny isn't really playing these because he actually likes to play Doom, he's obviously way more interested in showcasing the novelty and ingenuity of all this new custom content. And that's great, but it can be a little frustrating when you actually want him to _play_ some of this stuff and he clearly has no interest in doing so; it's sort of like watching someone show off a really nice knife which they refuse to cut anything with.

I think he played Soundless Mound in the previous getting doom with it, Looking around from the comments and research on alterra, I discovered the creator vanished from the internet and never finished that wad. The nature of that wad would also cause Vinny do go through it too quickly and complain it's confusing.
There were dozen of non-euclidean wads in 2018 competition, the only wad that had the word shrine was shrine of doomguy which was that wad where joel was complaining about the archvile placement and having to redo the wad in a aforementioned part later. There was however a wad called mirror world or something similar to that where it was heavily non-ecludian which i believe joel revisited after nocliping across it for 25 minutes trying to make sense of it.

I think Contra Doom only replaces the gameplay and has no maps of its own, whoever compiled this just paired it with Valiant.

I feel like Vinny goes way to fast when he shows off stuff sometimes, i am sure there is a proper readme for most if not all of the Doom WADS, it is ok to take your time and really check out the WAD, doesnt need to shotgun these so fast
The problem is that Vinny isn't really playing these because he actually likes to play Doom, he's obviously way more interested in showcasing the novelty and ingenuity of all this new custom content. And that's great, but it can be a little frustrating when you actually want him to _play_ some of this stuff and he clearly has no interest in doing so; it's sort of like watching someone show off a really nice knife which they refuse to cut anything with.
