Just for clarification, the Sonic the Hedgehog comics are the longest-running franchise-based series as well as the longest-running series based on a video game.
Might want to point out that that Knuckles spinoff comic was created and written by Ken Penders, and with the exception of Knuckles himself was populated almost entirely by his creations. IMHO, it wasn't that bad...partly due to it *being* almost purely Penders fanfic, rather than him mangling a pre-existing story and setting like he did in the main comic.
VulpisFoxfire Ken Penders is like Jeph Loeb a hack who fucks everything up, this reboot to me sucks and from what I have heard is that both Penders and Archie can use these characters. I think that this reboot is just a time out, because people who have falling outs with businesses end up back together again for the money. I mean look at Vince McMahon he had falling outs with people like Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Bret The Hitman Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Jim Ross, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Wendi Richter and Ultimate Warrior yet Vince had them come back. Also when people say that they never want anything to do with them they don't mean it, look at Sting who has been loyal to WCW, he said he wouldn't work for Vince and WWE and yet he did. So I think that when things cool off between Penders and Archie the characters like Julie-Su will return.
I agree with you. I miss the old Sonic comics because the plot is much better, Sonic and Sally are in love, and it's just like SatAM. Plus the characters I like in the old series are Julie Su, Rob O' the Hedge, Sonic's Mother & Father, Mina Mongoose, Scourge the Hedgehog & the evil freedom fighters, and more. The reboot really sucks and I want Archie & Ken Penders to put things back to the way they were!

Dude, dude... DUDE. Since Ken Penders can't get his characters back into the Sonic comics... He has the biggest number of Sonic OC. He needs his work to be on Deviantart for the transformation to be complete.

Wow I didn't know about the Ken Penders lawsuit. Archie Comic's Sonic the Hedgehog series were my gateway comics at a very young age. I read that series up until around issue #80. It was a wonderful comic book series. I'm glad to know it still has a solid fanbase and is still going strong. Great informative video Comic Alliance!

No offense, guys, but of course the British comics are canon- they're in two separate continuities. Archie isn't canon to STC and vice-versa, but that doesn't mean either one isn't "canon" in general. Either way, interesting vid.

After the stuff that recently happened, you might want to update this video.
I still have that Image crossover. It bothered me that Spawn was only in it briefly. I stopped reading the comics not too long after the reboot. It really sucks now. In my opinion. I did, however, like the Shadow, Knuckles, and Shadow/Knuckles stories in Sonic Universe after the reboot. Those were the only things.
Damn after the universe reboot, i dont think they ever gonna fix that universe after the lawsuit. But there are just so many interesting characters and stories is in a cliff hanger, I just wish they can bring back as much old character as possible, and i mees Sally being half naked lol

Because the judge dismissed the case and Penders said that Archie can use his characters as long as he gets paid for it. Also when people and companies have a falling out with each other they get back with each other just for the money and to give the people what they want. Man i hope Archie will recover and get the original story line back. But with the new reboot running for a while, it started to grew on me now, i love Nicole's new origin story because it make more sense. But i still miss all the old characters from the original time line. I hope ne next reboot will clash two universes keeping the old and the new.
Minh Le that is a good idea, keeping the old with the new. Because DC Comics did that too before Flashpoint and The New 52. They had Barry Allen The Silver Age Flash who died back in Crisis On Infinite Earths in 1985 as well as other things before The Crisis.

Sonic's record run only counts for licensed comics I believe- not comics in general. Also I think it was Archie that sued Penders although it was in response to Penders copyrighting the characters. There's a lot of legal stuff that's unknown though like Penders requests to distributors distributing the books. However Penders did attempt to sue SEGA and Bioware and EA (the creators of the Sonic RPG Sonic Chronicles).
But overall a great video, it's nice to see the Sonic comics get some more attention.

It's been a couple years since the trial but I do recall hearing that SEGA's lawyers were involved in the settlements and negotiations. But it's not really suspicious if they weren't involved in Archie's trial.

Mysterious N No need to hate if you're a Sonic fan. You got the games, shows and the comics. Sonic is everywhere :P. At least with the comics we get to view his world even more with lore than in video games.
Alwayz Silent used to have more lore. penders lawsuit and flynn's kowtowing to sega's whims have really shattered the book. 20 years of history down the drain for a half assed game centric reboot. and the character redesigns are awful.
