Just a heads up I found that style of plug in between the trolling motor and boat far too light and it actually melted together when it came under heavy use. Bought newer heavier gauge plug and receptacle and no issues after.
I suspected as much. But neither Bass Pro, Tahoe or Mercury will step up and admit the wiring gauge is not thick enough for the length and amps under normal sustained load.
Mike, hello. I have a 2007 Tahoe 195 with 150 OB. I am trying to decide between the xi3 70lb or the xi5 80lb. The difference is about $200. I’m guess our boats are both on the heavy side (close to 4000lbs). Does the 70lb xi3 do a sufficient job moving your boat around? Thanks
Yes, it does. If I didn't know any better, I could see me shelling out the extra 200 clams for more power. But it's enough power and it's already on the heavy side. The wiring on the boat is inferior, and may not be of heavy enough gauge to support the higher draw with the higher thrust.
@@MikeSenn64 Ok, thanks. I am looking at a 2150 CC. And I’m not sure if a 70 lb thrust trolling motor would suffice. Please post an update when you can.
@@captainjethro5799 It moves my 21.5 foot deck boat around just fine. For both fishing and shallow water where I don't want the main motor prop in the water.
The shop got a new transmission in for it.Replacing the locked up tranny fixed it. They op checked it and then I took it out and ran it all day. Happy to have it back.

We have the same set up Tahoe 1950!
We’re you able to get the issue resolved?
In the shop now, trolling motor circuit board on order.
They kept the boat and the motor to make sure the whole system checks out after they replace.
