If I was based on the States I would pick up all my vintage gear and drop them all at your address in order to get all of them restored Always great job
Love the videos! Keep em coming! I have the 9090db and afraid the disease is getting worse. I make sure to play it on all dolby modes every once in awhile to allow signal to flow throughout the dolby board to keep it alive. I would love to see a dolby board fix! Im currently using your videos to service my marantz 2240 thats been in the closet all these years.
My 8080db dolby board is dead on one channel. I just leave it off, I dont have any dolby tapes. I just feed it from a dac to the aux input. Dolby is not necessary unless you have a noisy source like a tape. That said, i think it would still be fun to restore even if i dont use it.
All of the front end signals go through that board with it turned on or off, most often the signal dies in one of the through feeds regardless of if its on or off.
Excellent videos but one item is skimmed over. I'm not the only one wondering (Pete Schreiber also asked in thread) and this same topic seems to skimmed over at Audio Karma. How do you test the output transistors?? You say you tested them at the 8:23 mark but please describe what that means. Thanks for the great videos on the 9090db.
All front panel lights do not lights up. Do you know how to test them and how to fix that issue ? thanks. This is for a 8080 DB, the amp section is working, but the problems seems to be the Dolby board, no lights and vu meters not showing anything.
Hello- Thanks for the video- I have a quick question- If you remove the 2634 board and power up, will the protector light will still be blinking red ? I have a 9090db that is missing the board that powers up and the protector lights blinks red even w/o the board. Thanks
I have a question i have the same model bit the problem is the sound goes away from one side speaker and other time its the other side u Maybe knie what the problem Is u Will help me alot
I can't figure out how to bias my Marantz 3300 preamplifier. The only visible adjustments are variable resistors on the Phono board. Adjusting those and probing to my oscilloscope only seems to affect the sine wave. It doesn't actually affect the balance between the upper and lower peaks. I don't know if there is any power amp board because this 3300 unit is just a preamplifier rather than a receiver or stereo integrated amplifier.
And good sources for this relay? I've got one where the armature is completely burned off. The relay is utterly destroyed. Looking for a drop in replacement.
Hi, i have the same problem in my 8080 but the driver board is different , my board is F-2436, can you tell me what numbers are these resistance in my board? Please
Thanks for video. I'm a newbie sort of. I have a 9090 and and 9090DB. Where can I get the resistors for my DB? I was hoping you show how to put them in. It that pretty easy? Also do you have a vid on how to make the Selector lights work?
Hello Sir, I have Sansui Au20000, But I have one problem with that, It has a Noise sound in one speaker, that is low, but I Have to fix it, Do you know which Board Can do this??
One repair shop claims to be able to but all the experts on the audio forums have tried and say that you lose too much functionality by doing so. Apparently this board is where all the low level input signals come together and it interfaces with various other functions. The general consensus is nope. I need to study the schematic myself and form my own opinion...
There are some 1 ohm resistors in the power supply that are quite a common failure in these as well. They're near the fuses in the power supply area. Don't remember if they cause the no preamp audio problem.
Hi love your videos , i have a 9090db with the red light , check and replaced 4 of the transistors , check and replace the resistors ,but it seems that i have the same blown transistors again
Blueglow Electronics I have sansui 9090 not dB model but same problem it keep flashing never stop please let me know.but 9090 difference board .thx for help.
I had one back in the nineties and it broke down and I had my repair guy to work on it and he couldn't get it right, I think that he was a parts changer and not a tech, he gave me in return a Radio Shack brand big receiver but it could not run with my old Sansui!!!!!!!

Sounds like I need to rebuild it anyways then.

Good question, did he just rough test BE, BC, CE resistance with a multimeter to see if there was a short-circuit?

Can you show us how to test the power transistors you briefly mentioned?

I got strange thing happening R44 and R43 get burnt I change the BC 560 on PSU board too any Idea ? Change both power transistors. on both channels

Is it the same for sansui 8900zdb receiver no clicking either?

Can you show how to test the output transistors ?
a friend of mine had that same model back in the 80s and it sounded amazing then

I got a 9090db that dolby bord is tost. I just use it as a amp. Not bad for 10 bucks
Is this problem gos also for sansui 890 ? ( i have same problem) so i can fix it please help ?

Awesome. Thanks for posting this.
Is there a way to mod these things to bypass the Dolby board? Because heard of these things getting scrapped over a Dolby issue.

Thanks for the video
I just fixed mine and it had exactly the same issue
Hi my 9090db no sound to spearker but i can use pre out
How can i check
Thank you
Why R43 burning? I change a twice and still burning. 150 ohm.
Thank you sir!. Yep can't believe its those resistors!

I really change, but still flashing red. Why?
How can I get in touch with you?
I have a 8080db that I need to have repaired.
Let me know.
Thank you!
If my light is green what should I do?
Then it's good??
Please, for the love of God, make a video on the Dolby board. That's the number one problem I run across.
I did make one a while back, just search for it
Blueglow Electronics I have sansui 9090 not dB model but same problem it keep flashing never stop please let me know.but 9090 difference board .thx for help.
Also get the rest of the "fusistors" on the driver board, normally they also drift or open
Nice video ! I'm looking to buy F2624 board, It is missing from my 9090DB i just bought:)
In this case "resistance is not futile"....LOL (Star Trek)

Why didn't you show the schematic to the driver board ? You should explain what those resistors are used for in the protection circuit.
