    Real nice unboxing and review. This sure looks useful and could see it having a lot of advantages for testing not just firewood 👍🏻

    You definitely want to check and see if you got wet wood when you're making things you don't want them to shrink when it gets cold

      Exactly! We were surprised that so much of the wood was dry!

    That looks like a fine product, Jan. I have a moisture meter from another manufacturer. It seems to work well, too.

    Aren't you supposed to split the wood and test at the fresh split area?

    • @SimplyJanHomestead
      @SimplyJanHomestead  8 месяцев назад

      Probably wouldn't hurt but this was split wood from a couple of weeks ago! The directions didn't say that it was required though.

    🤭 it a bit hard for me to keep my cool by not chuckling with no reason. At the beginning of video introductions 🤭 I apologize.. definitely my brain already corrupted..
    Thanks for the info.. but quick question.. do the moisture on the wood decrease when it is place near the wood stove??

    • @SimplyJanHomestead
      @SimplyJanHomestead  8 месяцев назад +1

      Oscar the moisture will burn off but it takes longer to do so!

    • @oscartangoromeo003
      @oscartangoromeo003 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@SimplyJanHomestead what I meant is if the someone stacked the wood outside and near the wood stove. Because I usually see off grid videos that using this kinda tips. Does it really decreasing the moisture on the wood a bit or it just a gimmick?? But shoe definitely will dry if we placed them near the wood stove.

      @oscartangoromeo003 Ohhh! Yes I think it would work. We’ve never tried it but I have seen it done.

      @@SimplyJanHomestead but thinking again.. suddenly my brain questioning "but does this will be a fire hazard issues" just to be safe Jan.. just do the experiment if someone is monitoring that stacked of wood 24/7 safety comes first..

    • @SimplyJanHomestead
      @SimplyJanHomestead  8 месяцев назад +1

      No it’s not a fire hazard. It’s all good
