I have said for many years… In fact, decades now… Wang Chung is one of the most underrated bands in the world. Their songs are timeless. Their lyrics are brilliant. The music is pure magic. I am very happy to see my old friends doing well. Continue to live long and prosper my friends. ❤️😎👍
Wang chung 0mg its been 30 years , at least . One the most incredible groups of the 80,s incredible .. and nice too see you both .. keep it coming through .. Congratulations
That second British invasion was just as monumental as the first. That 1980s revolution in music is still relevant and inspiring the next generation of music lovers. Great to grow up in that time.
This guitarist/ singer, jack hughes, i met him in sth london new cross in winter of 1978/9, i was learning the guitar, i went to some evening classes at goldsmiths college sth east london, and the teacher was jack hughes! He was Teaching the guitar in some evening group classes, and well , i was one of those students in his evening guitar classes! At the goldsmiths college. *I was very keen to learn the guitar and i would stay behind after the classes to ask jack more questions, and i imagine i stood out. I remember to this day, how he showed us how to play ziggy stardust - by David Bowie. And showed us music theory and the circle of fiths, and chord construction harmony. In 1981 i moved to live in Australia sydney, i was writing lyrics and songs and trying form my first band. One day in sydney, i heard on the radio i “Dance Hall Days” and saw the music video, of this big hit, I remembered jack told me he has band called huang chung, but now it was spelled wang chung. I recognised immediately jack hughes, my teacher from goldsmith college, he looked a lot like sting, jack was amazing looking. *I came back from Australia to uk in 1984, with my Australian Perth band, i had succeed to learn the guitar, and I wrote my own songs. We came to london to get my own record deal. *Jack hughes was amazing teacher, i remember he looked like a rock star waiting to happen! Those were great days, 70s, 80s, 90s. My Australian band members found it amazing i told them jack was my guitar teacher back in London 1970s.
Hey guys (Jack and Nick), if you ever do come across this message, you can pick certain songs that each of you enjoy, as do we, but I must state that you both have truly given this planet such wonderful music that'll forever stand the test of time and bring enjoyment to people's ears, hearts, and lives. I thank you for have given us such amazing music that always, naturally makes a person want to get up and dance. Thank you!!
An 80's Retro Rewind! Yassss! Wang Chung Factoid: The Title song for the movie 🎥'To Live and Die in LA ' was actually written after Principle Photography was completed for the 📽️🎥 film William Friedkin wanted to establish what the 2 main Characters did for a living (G Men for the United States Treasury) so they shot the opening sequence with the music! Please tour the US with an Orchestra! I would so totally see that! You guys rock!
I love these guys and always loved their music. I am kind of new to RUclips having made my first video but I am certainly not new to 80's music and Wang Chung ❤️👍
I love how both of you can laugh and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Seems so rare with most band members. I’ve become a greater fan than ever! Thank you
Just brilliant these guys are.. Dance Hall days is in your face "80`s" genius from start to finish.. Cripes just watched that interview and it was like the quickest ten minutes ever..
The "To Live and Die in L.A." soundtrack is, was and will always be the greatest project they ever did. I was always surprised that they never did anything quite like that soundtrack again. I paid $22 for the CD back then.......I'd pay $22 today! :)
I'm so happy that Wang Chung's discography is getting the Deluxe Edition treatment this year. "I'm waiting for you . But you're very late . I know you'll come anyway. And I can hardly wait!"
Still love Nick and Jack after nearly 40 years. Wake Up Stop Dreaming and City of the Angels from the "To Live and Die in LA" soundtrack remain my favorites.
Their first album features the Chinese characters for "Golden Bell", or huang chung (zhong), and has a number of Asian/Chinese oriented songs. It's actually quite good, if you can still find it. The term "Golden Bell" has symbolic significance in classical Chinese music.
The name Wang Chung means "yellow bell" in Chinese (黃鐘, pinyin: huáng zhōng; Wade-Giles: huang chung), and is the first note in the Chinese classical music scale.
Actually he already answered the question how they came up with the band's name, during another interview. He said the name came from the sound a guitar makes when you strum the strings downward (wang), then strum them upward (chung).
0:28 Oh I thought it was answered once , and not a big secret, and that it was derived from Chinese Huang chung (or something like that, silent W), whatever that meant i don't know though.
My favorite track is 'Waves' from the Album 'Points on the curve'.. oh moment... 'Wake up stop dreaming' ...mh...just a moment... 'At the speed of life',... 'Praying to a new God',..
Don't forget to mention GTA (Grand Theft Auto)! I was great hearing their song in that game! Grabbing a machine gun, grabbing a car, riding down the streets at 100 MPH with this band playing in the background!
I was studying the art of Wing Chun a long time ago. A friend of mine came to watch a class. She talked to the instructor afterwards and referred to the art as Wang Chung. It was amusing watching the instructor keep a straight face and not correct her. Almost made me laugh.
Go to a casino in Vegas or Atlantic City and your guaranteed to hear “everybody have fun tonight” at least once whilst you cheerily imbibe free alcohol, hear the relentless sounds of bells and woo-hoo’s and tally up your comps. After all, casinos like nothing more than you having fun whilst separating you from your wallet or purse as far and wide as possible.

I heard the song when I was 10 years old and in fifth grade of primary school in 1984-1985 and it has fascinated me ever since
Such an amazing interview. Much love for these amazing artists.
That second British invasion was just as monumental as the first. That 1980s revolution in music is still relevant and inspiring the next generation of music lovers. Great to grow up in that time.
THEY REMASTERED SUCH A GREAT PIECE OF MUSIC FROM THE '80S

Great to see they’re still around! I could not understand why they weren’t bigger in the U.K. when ‘Everybody Have Fun’ was at the top in the States.
Great to hear. Would love to see a live.
Peter Wolf rewrote / rearranged "everybody have fun tonight" it into the masterpiece that made Wang Chung so great.
Great live band too!

great interview....
When I hear this song I immediately think "Bachelor Party".

Wow amazing interview and in Prague!
I hope you do some more collabs guys, you one of my all time fav groups.
So many top songs, live UK tour would be epic 🤗
Actually he already answered the question how they came up with the band's name, during another interview. He said the name came from the sound a guitar makes when you strum the strings downward (wang), then strum them upward (chung).
I really enjoyed that! Glad these guys are still working together.
Wang chung had a great solid sound....all songs
I love your music. Hola from Mexico !
Music has fizzled out in the early 90's. The eighties allowed you to be who you wanted with Androgyny all around.
Love these guys!
Wang chung canciones por siempre
Great guys....
GREAT JOB GUYS..........
Dance Hall Days and Talk It Out are great tracks.
True gentlemen

Never net Jack, but Nick is a super nice bloke.
Jack is one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
To Live and Die in L.A. soundtrack is better than any of their radio hits combined. There, I said. Fight me!
What about lets go ?
Funny how that black dude sings "will you tell me what a Wang Chung is?" in Everybody Have Fun Tonight.
They have some great album tracks that blow away the singles; Don't Let Go, Wait, Hypnotize Me. To Live and Die in LA is a fantastic track.
Silly questions, geez
These guys are awesome, how about asking them some real bloody questions 🙄🙄🙄
I was studying the art of Wing Chun a long time ago. A friend of mine came to watch a class. She talked to the instructor afterwards and referred to the art as Wang Chung. It was amusing watching the instructor keep a straight face and not correct her. Almost made me laugh.
I thought for a long time they were an American band

Thank you for not answering the first question.
"To live and die in L.A." ... remember that song?
WAIT. Very moody track.
Damn..I Always thought these guys were American.
