You know what's great about this piece? It's called "Day and Night." It's also split into four parts, with one bridge. So you can think of the first as "morning," the 2nd as "afternoon" (and the repeating upper piano part representing time ticking away), the violin solo (the bridge) as "sunset," and then the chorus and the chorus repeating itself as "evening" and "night." Makes me play this on repeat, it's great.
All these years and I still keep coming back to this OST. Shiki was the kind of anime that will stay with you forever. I am so grateful to have been part of this journey
I don't know if you've watched it yet, but if you haven't PLEASE DO. The soundtrack is great, the show is really good too. I truly believe it's the best horror anime out there
I admire Toru and the nurse...they were my favs alongside Natsuno...the shiki who despite dying and needing to feed on people actually still cared MORE about the people they left behind.
Spectran the problem is that everyone hears the word vampire and thinks of twilight which is complete ass. so it kinda sucks since that makes it hard to recommend this to people who havnt seen it cuz this series is really one of the best anime youll ever see
Well when i first watched i didnt knew it was about vampires until episode 4, and it kinda got me because i wasnt expecting that twist, and still it was amazing. Now whenever i recommend this anime to anyone, i never tell them about the vampires, so they can enjoy the suspense build up of the firsts episodes
came back here because it reminds me of my past. and every so while you start to forget, just like the world does. and eventually it becomes hard, and harder to remember when everything that was once the world surrounding you had slowly but in in retrovision so rapidly disappeared. until you live in a world where the places and things you called home have faded in the shadows of Time. at some times the realisation is so real yet so distant that you can no longer feel, no longer feel anything. and at those times you start to feel the fear of having lost yourself where only the darknes and it's ambience in the conscious realization and memory of that and those that was and where now lost or gone as will all you know, is capable of allowing you to feel your hearth, there where most will never go, and will never come, you feel everything at the same time. but you won't understand it, just feel and so the quest to find that what you no longer know what it is continues. A friend of mine, once told me "I just wanted to $@@^ so I could rest" back then I answered "I fear the ethernal rest" but it took me a while to see that we both meant the same. for I did not reference to death, or live, but I referenced to a ultimate infinite void of nothingness. she meant rest, not as in sleep or death, or life, but she also meant rest as in a escape from the building void, as a way of being free and herself, as a way to feel. the scenario however was what tells what it truly means, however I feel like I can not properly explain that here. but you could see it like this, being stuck, manipulated by people who do not know you, but if they did, they would see you as a monster. then seeing them kill your friends and real family seeing them like monsters yet you only realize it when there is except for you only one left being "alive", or for her quite much the same, but then with the ability to actually feel in the moment. I know this does no right to the real story, but there is so much more that happens over Time. the thing is, one of these songs, and the same similarities, it almost perfectly resembled one of my songs which I wrote in a part of my past, then I heard another one resembling another of those songs, both songs I had written based on my experiences and past, to tell a story. it however also included some factors that directly brought back memories about those who once where older, and it clearly brought back the memories of the last time I was young, and the short moments and events before that. well by now I no longer call that true since I have found that people who live as one life of one duration get old. but those who are already that old that their life can no longer age them will always be young, yet at the same time so old that one would be called not truly alive. eventually something gets/is so old that it can no longer get old, and so it always stays young. this however can be a lesson to manny since despite the dark image people get from it, it actually more resembles the truest form of love, since nothing matters anymore, except for that what truly matters to you/is important to you. there is no reason or time to hate on things that are different in others useless they directly destroy what you love. but even then there is no need to hold a grudge, after all, all the do, did, done, where, are. it all is only temporarily, and above all it soon later will no longer matter since all related to it is gone. however back to the story. it resembled those songs so much, and it brought back memories, that was my whole reason for watching the show, however the content of the show also on manny points felt quite similar. btw. it looks like a autobiography where sunako is the main character. it also seems to represents a early love story between her and seishin. here however you have to understand the part where you can no longer get old.
I saw rhis anime and I have to admit I loved it! It really tore down the line between, "good and bad." :) It was so awesome and even after further thoughts and thinking a little more into the theme it still blew my mind. It was an absolute masterpiece. I loved it for its mixture of emotion and gore. It was so sad and inspiring and the characters were so realistic and relatable. I'll never forget this show.
This stunningly beautiful song is not only pleasant to my ears, but it accompanies the anime so well. Also i want to thank the uploader for taking the time to upload this beautiful piece; brightened my day and many other's as well. :)
I think the music is my favourite part of the anime. Such peaceful and relaxing tones for a violent anime that challenges morals and leaves you wondering at the value of humanity.
Before I watched Shiki I never had an anime where I was like "This is the one I find perfect". 9 years later it is still my favourite. There's something about it I was never able to find in any other anime, no matter how much I enjoyed them.
Yes, it does a lot. All the emotions which I felt while wathcing this anime and all the emotions in characters. It's just after Eau De Vie on TOP SHIKI OSTS
I think its interesting how megumi is the only one singing in the beginning of the song, but has a choir and the end. Like how the shiki have to hide in the day but come out at night. Like how megumi liked staying out in the morning and not at dark with the others. 😭😭😭
omg this gives me goosebumps! #SPOILER ALERT!# reminds me of when yuki's dad finds him dead! omg that was so sad! amazing anime! amazing soundtrack! and amazing art work! one of my top animes
Thinking back at this, I feel like this anime could've been a lot better either without / or with a reworked / first half. This OST is amazing though, and so was the last third... I might have to rewatch eventually.
Vokoca Although the pacing was quite slow, I think the purpose of the first half was to allow the viewer to meet the village and sympathize with the humans before turning the tables around :)
+FlowerEmblem I agree, we got understand everyone's nature & how things work in this village. After that, everything changes & we can feel every corner of the story.
The pacing is perfect actually, in just over 20 episodes you pretty much get to know the entire village, their stories, personalities and then boom, everything goes down, I loved it, especially episode 18. The few things I didn't really like are how they completely ditched Natsuno half way trought only to have him show up like 3 times till the end, I didn't even particularly like his character but it felt like the build up of his role in the story was a little overblown, Also they've let out some great parts and big plot points in the extras wich weren't obvious and some of the deaths were unnecessarily brutal (tractor on the head). Other than that, its one of the, if not the best mystery anime I've seen.
The anime is more sad than terrifying. What saddens me the most is the death of Megumi and his friend, but after they came back to life in the form of Shiki, they changed very much, but I was saddened by Yuki's death.
One of the best drama that i was watchin , im still on episode 14 and its realy good and enjoyable , even if its not best drama as some ppl says its realy good . Nothing is compared to Clannad Afterstory .
+Karthik Chelakkara Murugan Fun fact indeed, that's why when I find different anime with the same composers, I love finding the songs that sound the closest to each other.
after I watch this anime, I quickly erased it from my laptop cuz I terrified, it's like a terror to me, but overall I like this anime, but I can't watch it again
All Sunako wanted was a family who can accept her... I feel sad for her yet angry that she doesn't mind sacrificing humans to meet her goal. I prefer the nurse who decided she ought to die than kill.

love you for that comment, cause i couldn't figure out what my new favorite instrument to listen to was :P
So at 0:00, 0:47, 1:34, and 2:21?
All these years and I still keep coming back to this OST. Shiki was the kind of anime that will stay with you forever. I am so grateful to have been part of this journey
After all these years it's still with me too
Same. Such a masterpiece, should never be forgotten
I haven't even watched Shiki yet I'm here. This anime truely has one of the best soundtracks in anime.
I don't know if you've watched it yet, but if you haven't PLEASE DO. The soundtrack is great, the show is really good too. I truly believe it's the best horror anime out there
That chorus gives me some serious goosebumps...Love this anime. Still my favorite anime in the horror genre.
***** Yeah mine too..... Maybe one of the best anime of all time!! :)
+Xerxes Break The OST matches the anime so beautifully, it's just unbelievable. Such depth in the OST.
SaiyanR6 so deep ...truly ...
You didn't see Shinsekai Yori yet, didn't you?
the best anime but the kid should have lived! dafuk no protagonist
i am mad
;_; the tears man! The tears!~
+Regan Anderson I feel you dude!!
+Regan Anderson It's rainning ;_;
I admire Toru and the nurse...they were my favs alongside Natsuno...the shiki who despite dying and needing to feed on people actually still cared MORE about the people they left behind.
This song reminds me tohru.
When he died, damn..
I NEVER cried so much for a anime caracter.
Not everyone can understand that anime. Lot of people thinks: "vampires, another shit etc". The problem is, they are wrong.
Yeah, it wasn't just some "man vs. vampires" anime. It was seriously so much more. I loved every episode.
vampires have feelings too 😢😭
+Vika Mc They're not vampires, they're Shiki ;)

i dont even know what to say this ost is so beyond amazing
really beautifull and inspiring
i cant help but listen to it every night before i sleep
I love this song so much
Anyone in 2021 i just remembered how peaceful this is and came back to relax my mind again
It's just came into my recommendation, but I love this anime alot.

Ofc , First season was preety much to present. AS was whole drama.
Rumbling Hearts is better than Clannad .....& yes you can't compare Clannad to this outright
