      I disagree.
A few years ago I locked myself out of my house and had to break in.
I was bartending at the time and this was after work, so like 4am ish.
After walking around my yard looking for things to stand on I had a couple cops come park in front of my house, and LITERALLY watch me climb through a window.
They didn't question me at all, just watched my fat ass struggle to get my window open and wriggle myself into it.
I wasn't asked for proof of residency or anything. They just drove away after I got in.
I absolutely believe my race and gender played a part.
Or maybe they figured it MUST be my house since I kept breaking in knowing they were watching 💁

@@greasemonkett Oh gender is definitely a major factor in this woke world. But look at this. Used to be no black men led commercials, nor other minorities. Sad, but wealth ruled as companies catered to white audiences. Now, you can't find a straight white male in those roles, period. Because the companies do exactly the same thing, go for money. What screws one group today will change to screw another. Wealth.

My white privilege in the 80's was going to work after school to help my mom out since my dad was living in his car and her company filed chapter 11 after working there for 15 years. Then when I graduated from HS my white privilege voided me from getting any grant or financial aid for college but I was really happy to see my friend get a grant he never had to pay back even though he grew up in the better part of the neighborhood than I did and both his parents were in the medical field. His dad a DR and his mom was a nurse. My friend was a mix of Black and Filipino. Lucky for him his rough life he had to live growing up in that big house got him his degree for free. Life goes on so at the age of 20 I signed up to be a fireman. When the average wait to take the test is 6 months to a year, My white privilege speed tracked that wait time to only 8 years!! I was finally called at the age of 28 to take my first test. I aced the exam and being an ex college athlete I couldnt wait to take the physical as I was still in peak shape. After waiting 6 more months I got a call from my Cousin who was a captain in LA saying dont hold your breath. There is a reverse discrimination suit going on and they wont be hiring any white males for a while. Life goes on and I think I did pretty ok. I never moaned and groaned about it, I just realized nothing I can do about it and I cant let it stop me. So yeah, If anyone of you who think there is "white privilege", just hit me up and I will gladly give you mine.

That’s is not the definition of white privilege. White privilege doesn’t mean you’ll have an easier life bc you are white. White privilege doesn’t mean every accomplishment you’ll achieve in your life is bc you are white. White privilege doesn’t mean that every black person has it harder then whites. White privilege is about structural problems, that come from slavery and segregation, that affect our community more than others. White privileged is about the fact that you didn’t lose centuries of development in the country because your ancestor were being hold as slaves. White privilege is about the fact that white people are divided in every social class, meanwhile most black persons are born in poor, segregated areas. That doesn’t mean EVERY white person is rich and suburban. That doesn’t mean every black person worked hard for everything. That means that white people, as a collective and not as individuals, don’t face the repercussions of red lining, police brutality and racist targeting, the inability to acquire generational wealth... etc. White privilege is not about your accomplishment, I think Tom did work for everything he has, and nobody is saying that he got it from white privilege. But they are problems that black people face, that he won’t. They are problems that black people face at higher rates than white people. That is white privilege. @@isacaldero380 well your statement doesn’t really mean anything. Your whole argument is black people have struggles white people don’t have. Yes. That is true. But so is the reciprocate. So that would mean there’s black privilege? Imo I think the idea of racial privilege is just stupid and plays into the broader idea of identity politics. I’m Jewish my skin is white, my family came from Eastern Europe to escape being murdered. My great grandparents died from illness on the boat over to America, and my grandfather was the sole survivor. He was 8 years old in a foreign country with nothing. He worked at a dept store as a kid and lived at the store. That history has affected my family to this day as we haven’t had the wealth other people have had centuries to build upon. But that’s life that’s not “white privilege”. Everyone has to start somewhere and your skin color doesn’t dictate that. That doesn’t mean what your saying isn’t true. If your a white person who descended from British settlers then you’ve had a long history to build your family wealth. But that’s a small population of people most white people came from immigrants who emigrated here in the late 19th and early 20th century. They were discriminated and redlined too. Idk I just think your ideas are divisive and don’t fix any problems we should be trying to solve.

How do you think it feels to accomplish all that only to be told ... "Yeah, it's because of white privilege." I honestly would like to know why you think all white people are privileged? How can you say something like we are not in his predicament and he is not in ours, so we don't really know - and then right after say all white people are privileged..."we know that"? Okay, so as a white mother living in poverty, let me say this, sayin white folks are privileged is stupid. The privileges given are given to folks with money, regardless of your race. You ain't gotta like it. You ain't gotta approve. If you ain't making money, the world could care less. I receive the same benifits as other moms of different races. What Tom is trying to make clear is that in the attempt to fight racism, those fighting are also being racist! It's that simple. I would also like to point out that there were SEVERAL WHITE SLAVES as well. Slavery hasn't ended because if you follow the media amd watch closely, we're all slaves in their eyes. You think anyone from their side of the tracks struggle to pay their bills or feed their kids?? The media is dividing us to conquer us. Yes, we should all ban together and fight back as one because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing and we would be completely untouchable. Look back in history and you will notice that the people who owned slaves had money. Even back then, the white folks who were in poverty didn't own slaves, they were slaves. They were mistreated and spat on. I personally find it ridiculous that in 2021 we are still dealing with this issue when we should be focused on other things, like the fact pedophiles are trying to say that sexually they should be free to sleep with children. Instead everyone is stuck on race and it's going to be the end of this nation if we allow the media to win. Yes, bad things have happened. Yes, some white folks are racist assholes who deserve to be beat with a brick, but lets not paint that picture. We should be changing things not going along with the same song and dance they have been playing since the beginning. This is my opinion. I personally am sick of being labeled as a privileged white woman when I am just as broke and stuck in the same struggle as everyone else.

Judge people by their actions, not their appearance :) Every color is beautiful and what a boring world we'd live in if we all looked the same.

All I did was walk to the grocery store, and a teenage guy of color wanted to start shit and fight all because I am white. His grandfather walked outside, recognized my Special Forces hat I had on, and told his grandson to get his ass back in the yard. He told him that he was about to get fucked up by the "wrong white boy"! The young man looked at me, looked back at his grandfather, then walked back to his yard. Most white in the US aren’t even related to slave owners, and are instead immigrants or poor farmers descended from criminals/starving masses exported to relieve their country’s/family’s burdens. A lot of irish children were sold so they wouldn’t starve to death. My ancestors were swiss who were lorded over and enslaved by romans, and when that stopped they were abused by asshole lords they eventually fought against and won their independence. There were famines/stress at one point and so several swiss colonies were set up to help lower the population.
But to some sjw or brainwashed person, I’m evil/predisposed towards doing terrible things and “benefiting from slavery”. Now sure I don’t have the same struggles as an inner city black kid, but I’ve been homeless before living out of my car. Everyone has shitty situations and I want poor comunities to get richer- but poor blacks blaming poor whites for what some rich whateverthefuck’s decisions ain’t gonna help us.
We need to realize each other’s realities all deserve consideration for sure. I don’t KNOW the fear a black person might feel, even if undeserved, walking through a white neighborhood in the south. I can try to understand it/empathize, but truly getting over our fears and prejudices is a personal struggle and one we fight through good parenting- not attacking or trying to tax someone through the government for “reparations”. How would that even work legally? Blacks are more closely genetically related to slaveowners in the US than whites are… most plantation owners fled the country when slavery was banned and went to where it was still legal in South America etc and switched to coffee, sugarcane….
I guess I’m just saying it’s wrong to blame the son for the father’s mistakes. And for this reason it pains me so much that kids who grow up in a broken home get a bullet in their chest from some gang violence/robbery in the hood… all because asshole government had to stir up some shit with crack and marijuana etc…
We all have a much bigger enemy to face…. The powers that be want us all slaves white red black and yellow…

I have had black friends my entire life. I have also lived where I was the minority. I don't care what color someone else is. Only how they treat me. I think y'all are beautiful. I wear braids & locs because I think they are beautiful. I also wear them as a protective style. I sometimes go weeks where I can't style my hair due to medical reasons. The reaction you awesome young men are displaying towards Tom's message here, which if I heard you all correctly, was something like-
"We get what he's saying, it's a different point of view and we won't ever be in those shoes because we feel the same way from our perspective. Black people hang out with black people, and white people hang out with white people. It's been that way from the beginning."
-Is 100% a callback on Tom's bar from Fake Woke.
"They knew that racism was hot: if they designed it to sell, we'd buy up every single box and divide us ourselves."
That's exactly what he was saying with those 22 little words. It HAS been that way from the beginning, you're right on that. And it's by the design of the few over the many, and in that design, they were clever enough to make us think that we did it to ourselves, to each other. And so it's been, and so it's gone on, and so it goes today...and this is why we have a hard time seeing things from each other's point of view.
This explains why there are amazing people wherever you look, and why there are racist people wherever you look. "The system" itself isn't racist, the few people behind the scenes who really built the system are racist. Whites aren't racist, blacks aren't racist, browns, yellows, whoever: we're all in this together. The racist experiences we all have, and some more or less than others, is a result of the people who buy into the lie that you or I ARE a racist, hook line and sinker.
The people screaming racism this and racist that, if you pay close enough attention, are actually the only ones pushing for segregation. "Whites are racist, so blacks need their own dorms." You hear about that one? It's my favorite. It brilliantly showcases the whole point. ...How the hell you gonna get so woke that you actually push for straight up actual racist "solutions" and people gonna agree with you on it?
The people like you and I, and, god bless him, Tom here, just going about their own lives and loving everyone, are normal frickin people who did not, have not, and always will utterly refuse to "divide us ourselves." My kids, whenever I have 'em, aren't gonna give a flying fuck about colors. They're gonna care about what most normal sane people who haven't bought the lie care about: are YOU personally whack as an individual? If you are then you can fuck right off, if not you're my brother and I'd take a bullet for you without even meeting you before, period.
Tom and his lyrical foresight are legendary for stuffing ALL of that into those 22 small words. Bless you guys for reacting and can't wait for more🤘

I so appreciate you young strong black men being willing to listen to another person's perspective. It can be very uncomfortable. The media is calling the uncomfortable feeling "white fragility" when it is the other way around. I personally think that is a derogatory statement meant to invalidate a person's feelings and ultimately used to silence that person's voice. Most of us with empathy have uncomfortable feelings about important issues such as race relations. Keep being open to these discussions. You are all amazing and have brought so much healing into my life. My challenge to you, CartierFamily, is to read the lyrics as you would a book. Then go through and watch the whole video. Then go through and pause and react. Youre saying some things that arent accurately depicting the overall message of what Tom is trying to convey. White privilege isn't solely about money....
It's about driving and not fearing being pulled over and shot dead for going for your wallet..
It's about being in the justice system and sentenced to probation 4 ur crime while your black counterparts go to prison..
It's about shopping without the clerk following you around..
It's about being hired, getting a good job before a more qualified black person is.
It's about being able to walk safely to the store for skittles and iced tea in your favorite hoodie and not be killed....
These are just the things I personally think about when I hear "what's white privilege, I don't have WP."
