What a poignant glimpse into Fort Leavenworth's essence! 🌟💪🏼 Together, we recognize the resilience that defines this place. Let's keep striving in unity! 🤝✨
I was stationed at the USDB from January of 1980 to October of 1982. I was an Army 95C Correctional Specialist. I worked many of the towers and the wings along with assigned to west gate entry and reception. I was part of the CERT and SORT special security team. Our special operations team also trained alongside the correctional staff at the Federal Prison and the Kansas State Prison called Lansing. I also stayed for a short time in the barracks and then lived off post once I had gotten married. Your video brought back many memories. I hope to visit as you did and it's on my bucket list. Thank you for the tour and thank you for your service.
That crossing the Missouri River gave me chills. I miss my home state with each passing day. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can return to sw Missouri next summer & get my legacy ranch started.
It's been 34 yrs since I left St Louis. Next year will be 50 years since I was last in Augsburg. I want my daughter & my grandsons to go there with me so I can show them where I lived & all that Augsburg & Bavaria has to offer.@@ChippersIslandAdventures
thanks for sharing, i've stationed on both garrison (cac) and usdb side from 2002-2008 and it was the best looking post by far... heck we was one of the first unit to deploy to Iraq from the base... too bad you couldnt go in the barracks, it was our HQ during my time in USDB.
I was stationed with two dudes while active duty USAF in Germany who got busted for drugs and were each sentenced to around 10 years if memory serves me correctly, to Ft. Leavenworth and eventually dishonorablly discharged. One was an E-4, the other an E-5 before conviction. I think that was 1979. I never found out how they fared after they were taken away. It was a really sad situation.
Thank you for watching. That was a tough period. My understanding is the Military stepped up drug enforcement in Europe then. Hence the population of the DB nearly doubled. Once, I was working reception and a guy came thru that I knew from Basic. His bust was heroin. Sad. All the best!
Thank you for watching. To be honest, the names of the inmates escapes me now. As do many of the guards. I’m actually still in touch with two of the guys I worked with. All the best?
Thank you for watching. I remember a few. Not many though. Mostly guys I associated with. Post hasn’t changed much though. New shopping complex and a park dedicated to Buffalo Soldiers. All the best!

Thank you for watching. I left there March of 1980. You probably knew some of the people I knew. Stratton? McCarron? Mattina? All the best!

I was an inmate there from 77-80.
Well, we certainly crossed paths as I was there 78-80. 18 months.
Short commute to work, Mike! 😊 Were you military police? Thanks for the tour! Keep on keepin' on!
Very short commute! Yes, I was an MP for 3 years. I then got out for 2.5 years and went back in as Military Intelligence. A solid choice.
I'm very grateful for your service to our country. Thank You! Keep on keepin' on!@@ChippersIslandAdventures
Thanks for sharing the video. Who was doing time for double murder when you were there?
Thank you for watching. To be honest, the names of the inmates escapes me now. As do many of the guards. I’m actually still in touch with two of the guys I worked with. All the best?
The only guards name that I remember was Sergeant Riley.

@@ChippersIslandAdventuresI was in both 4 and 7 wings. My last job there was in the gym.
I worked in both those wings. I vaguely remember the gym. I remember the population nearly doubling 78-80. Hope you’re doing well. All the best!
