F the price of pre-release on this set.
F the prices on the whole set..lol
Where I work we’re only charging 40 so it’s not terrible
@@LyricAvenue69 True. Wonder why this would cost over 75 USD over there. But still...hate these box prices lol.
How? Seems like it would be at a loss @@LyricAvenue69
Agreed - Masters/Horizons prices are, and have basically always been, a huuuge scam.
Here I am, living vicariously through this cause I can't afford the prerelease
Preach it brother or sister 👊
70 bucks pre release is a crime... shame
70!??!??!? my store is doing 50 at ending record payout
My shop is 50 and prizes at end plus 1st gets a prophecy LP rhystic study
$100 in Australia. It's unbelievable.
$60US
60Eur here
Your blue is not good enough here. Hard to see for sure but I think you have a decent pool for a g/r agro deck. Possibly..likely really...splashing black for deluge and hopefully another card or two.
Also...you play Grist for a couple reasons. 1/2 deathtouch for 1 in sealed where people are definitely playing big creatures is almost always going to get value, you had at least one fight/punch card and finally, people are going to be worried about you flipping it and may go out of their way to kill it.
I really enjoyed the commentary on this one. I'm trying to get out of my constructed comfort zone by playing limited, and I must say, I'm really bad at it.
Hearing your thought process on what cards to pick or to cut, etc... really gave me a lot of valuable insight.
Don’t worry, Limited is hard. Just keep at it and you’ll steadily improve!
OMG Vince this is exactly what I've been looking for!!! I've never done a sealed event before and I'm hoping to make it in on Friday!
Glad it was helpful!
Lert's go !
Fond memories of Eclectic Games, very much my Magic alma mater - I was there in 2007 for my first sanctioned Magic event (Future Sight prerelease)! Hope you all have a great time!
Thanks for sharing!
Not looking forward to explaining to my opponent that their deviod creature cant be sacrificed to the free spell
Why would you have to explain that?
@@WinterGray8888 devoid is weird interaction
@@Billchu13 that’s not a weird interaction that’s just how devoid works
@WinterGray8888 agreed, and time will tell, but my money is on this being a common mistake / misunderstanding
It was nice to have your perspective on building a pre-release Limited deck. Often times I find myself struggling in the cut phase of building my deck and often end up at 41-43 cards. Unfortunately due to unexpected bills I cant currently afford a normal priced pre-release, much less a horizons, which is a shame cause this seems like a really cool sealed environment. Never the less great video!
Limited is super fun! It may be worth it to build full 60 card decks of the Draft Archetypes from this set for a fun gameplay experience.
TIL Vince's hand presentations are worthy of documentary footage. Loved watching the embellishments every time you flipped a DFC over.
I dont get it? Was it good? Was it bad?
I've played Magic for more than 20 years now. I was a kid when Ravnica 1 came out, and I read magazines back then, about decks and new cards doing lot of cool stuff. And at some point the name Shockland appeared in the conversation. As a french player, we use the same word, but like many other words in Magic language, I did not translated it correctly and just assumed it was a name created by the community. In my head , it was a land the deals damage to you, like and elctric shock would do in real life, and inflicting you damages.
I cannot describe the face I made when hearing "more of a Boltland than a Shockland".
I kinda feel pretty dumb, to be honest...
If it makes you feel any better english is my first language and I thought the same thing until I read this comment lol
Hype to play this on Friday and for the few that are curious I’m lucky to get in for prerelease at 50 instead of the previous 60 here at locals
Wumpus is a cast trigger not an ETB - you don't get any triggers from it off the copied instance with Echoes. You do get two Wumpi and two cast triggers, but both cast triggers are both from the original which you did spend mana on.
I want to support my LGS and play in tbe event. But my store is charging $90.00 and i am not sure i want to participate :(
protip. When opening your 6 packs at a prerelease, open all 6 face down, then flip them up in a stack and sort by color. You can save a few minutes on your deckbuilding time using this technique.
Always love a prerelease build video!
damn big shoutout to eclectic games, nearest game store to me
Hope pre-release went well I used to love going to them growing up, are you local to Reading or visiting for this newest set release?
It’s like 50.00 usd right? Crazy
its 70 at one of the stores i frequent.
£50 at my lgs but 2 extra guaranteed play boosters for attending so well worth it.
@@ryuwraththey have to offload the remaining “dead packs” from their opened boxes somehow
Yes, lert's do that!
I went 6-0 with a 70% green 30% black golgari counters/recursion/removal. Didn’t get the Eldrazi I wanted, but it I got 5 free packs for going undefeated.
The echoes of eternity copies the colourless spell, but you don't cast it, so it wouldn't trigger the cast trigger from the wumpus
Lert's go indeed
Last standard pre release $35 MH3 pre release $65. Me asking why. Wotc: eldrazi, fetches and free spells. I'm currently deciding which arm and leg I want to sell
I think I'd do 18 lands here with the MDFC lands included in that count. I could be wrong, though!
correct me if I'm wrong but copying a spell isn't the same as casting it so if you get a copy of Wumpus Aberration with the Echoes, it shouldn't trigger the Wumpus ability as the copy wasn't cast
0:45 tbh a new player is not likely to watch Vince since you have to get used to him to even understand his 500 kph speed talking about magic
Great Commander pulls!😂
Woo.
50 bucks pre releases makes me lucky
Really on the fence about going to pre-release this weekend. On the one hand it is my favourite gameplay mode in MTG and I do want to support my local FLGS. However, the cheapest they could do it is £50. I know there'll be promos and chances to win bonus packs but that's still a lot of money for 6 booster packs, while i could potentially get an unlimited booster box of Flesh And Blood for the same price and play limited with that instead and grow the local scene.
0:40 Ive been playing Magic for 25 years and I never drafted before, so this is truely interesting, even if i'm not new to Magic
It’s the truest test of skill in the game
Im so happy, my lgs prerelease price is around $50
For the Echoes + Wumpus nonbo, since Wumpus' text is a cast trigger, not an ETB, wouldn't it not trigger for the copy since it wasn't actually cast?
Love this video format 🔥😎
You have a triple colorless card but none of your cards in the deck are double green or double blue minus a couple mdfc lands. They really lowered the pips of cards in the set to make the limited environment playable with lots of colorless sources.
Did you ever figure out how much a draft of MH3 is going to cost on arena?
Normal price for a draft! :o
I'm shocked too
@@PleasantKenobiI’m almost inclined to write a passive aggressive email inquiring as to why they would ONLY charge the cheaper “non-Masters” rate for a “Masters” product. If I’m expecting to pay an overpriced rate for a “Masters” product containing a “spiritually selected set list”?! Why is it cheaper? Is it because WotC think we’re not good enough to be unnecessarily overcharged for digital assets that have no option to convert them into physical versions? Deplorable and disrespectful behavior.
I know for a FACT, based on irrefutable evidence gathered across -idk bro like 20?- a statistically relevant number of matches during the past 14 years, it’s blatant -spooky space spaghetti- Eldrazi favoritism. They don’t want Eldrazi Winter or Eldrazi Summer; they want every season to be pasta season.
Question. If we're printing cards from legacy into modern, how is modern going to end up being different from legacy outside of the power 9?
Great video, thank you!
mh3 got some good stuff for my nettle drone deck
My local lgs expensive pre-release tho
This set seems like it would be an absolute *nightmare* to do anything Limited with.
From the horrible feeling of your only Mythic being an Eldrazi it’ll be impossible to cast, to the tournament result being *absolutely* and without the slightest question having a result predetermined by who got the hottest creature pull….
That doesn’t seem to be a fun time equivalent to, say, me and my girl both going to Universal. (If I buy Halloween Horror Nights tickets the day they go on sale in mid-August, it’ll be like 39$ each.)
I mean, if there’s even 20-ish people at your LGS, *someone* is going to pull an Ulamog the Defiler, and a lot of the people playing won’t have more than 1-2 pieces of removal, total.
I dont agree. When all of the common and uncommons are so powerful, the limited environment should feel less swingy.
@@PleasantKenobi I mean, that might help smooth things out in the general card-pool more than I’m envisioning, but I don’t really see how that’s going to help with a few cards that are merely strong in Constructed play that are going to be far stronger in low-removal Limited.
I hung out at my LGS for the OTJ Prelease, and I think that Set is a lot tamer overall (In a Limited context, but also compared to MH3, obviously), and that went pretty much exactly as I thought it would from the pulls (Terror Vs Goldvein in the finals, Terror took it.)
Man, this limited format is going to be grindy as fuuuuuuck. Lots of graveyard recursion, multiple 7+ drops that seem playable, cheap wraths. Unless you get the nuts aggro deck, the main way to lose looks like it could be the first player who misses land drops or getting decked. I can see playing 18 lands being justified
There's so many Commanders from this set that I want to build around, but I can't decide which one should get the time and money and ink from my printer.
Should I just go with a color combination I haven't done lately?
not that it matters but it pains me to have to stare down the it that heralds the end sitting right on top of the cards not going in your deck. it's so powerfull in that build.
Yeah. It was one of my last "didn't make it". I should cut some of the minor energy stuff for it.
Sorry Vince, I leave a comment because I won't watch this because I won't go to the PreRelease.
I bet it would be fun.
I also am not willing to pay the stupid price WotC wants me to pay.
Wait are we not getting prerelease rares anymore, or did you just emulate a prerelease pool with boosters instead of opening a prerelease pack ?
Also your blue is kinda questionable at best, I can't see the cards enough to make a confident call, but perhaps RG/colorless stompy was a better pile. Maybe not-gilded-drake is enough of a bomb ? Not sure how good that is in limited
It was an emulation. Maybe he didnt want to open one or he didnt have one
these comments are making me very thankful that my prerelease is charging $50 for prerelease instead of $70. if it was $70 i probably wouldn't be able to afford it but with my store credit i was able to
Super looking forward to prerelease and as a comp player may have gone quite hard on sealed product at 12 boxes but looking for interesting things to do with them rather than just ripping open packs.
Your not a comp your a scalp lmfao sht up and move along
I didn't understand what you were saying about wumpus and echoes, could you re-explain?
The copy doesn't have any mana (colourless or otherwise) used to cast it, so your opponent gets to put a creature into play off its ability. Not only that, because of echos, that ability is copied, so they get to do it again!
@@christopherreay3242 ok now I get it thank you
The price is ridiculous for the same amount of cardboard as any other set. Any other card game is more budget friendly. Magic should not be pay to win
C'mon PK you know to not make a mess of piles just go in the WUBRG order! try harder next time!
No.
a shame that very few people will play mh3 limited
did you upload this in 4k but only facecam is 4k?
Yes he did
Robbery WotC can give you some free crap but nah they can shove it .I love MTG but there is no justification for the prices going the way they are.
Sealed feels really piss poor on MTGA. Is it this or more expensive in paper?
who's lert
I'm normally not a WotC hater. But a Prerelease that costs 60 or more bucks/dollars/euros is criminal.
And honestly I feel, nobody should promote this.
Okay, it's sponsored content and labeled as such, but this channel can't critique the high prices of WotC any more....
I can be both excited for a set, and be critical of its price.
Hell, I can acknowledge the high price of boosters, and still enjoy the limited environments. I've always held this belief about Masters sets, and have expressed it in the past.
Ultimate Masters ruled as a draft environment- but the price was too high.
@@PleasantKenobi
Dear Vince,
normally I like your content and I really think that among the influencual MtG content creators you have probably the most balanced and fair view points.
I have no problem with for example expensive collector boosters or premium commander decks with special IPs. And I also justify a higher price when I bought LotR or MH2 Set booster. I also got exited when I bought and cracked a doctor who collector booster yesterday.
I also had no problem if you bought the boosters and ripped them for fun.
But here is my point: Prereleases were the most fun and inclusive events. Casual, newbies and enfranchised players joined there. And 30 bucks are even affordable by a young student.
MH2 and LotR Prereleases were under 50 (as far as I remember).
But this is the first time, that we had a Prerelease with playboosters with a "premium" set. 60 bucks for a Prerelease is not accessible at all. This feels elitist and detached from WotC. I really think, that this one of the most problematic things they did to the game for some time. (Even worse than those magic 30 boosters, which everybody could just ignore).
And it just doesn't sit right for me to have advertisements for this Prerelease.
Too many players can't afford to PLAY it.
I hope you open your #FreePreview card!
Where the F are the retroframes
Guess I’ll take it so

$60-$70 prerelease is too expensive and especially when most lgs prize support is just a pity pack. And if you dont pull a fetch land or crazy commander card it will be a feels bad.
A lot of poor people in the comments.
