    Thank you for this WONDERFUL formula! I've been trying to make something like this for a while--and your method and materials work together beautifully! And, I love that these ingredients are not difficult to obtain!

    Hi Belinda, you added the cetearyl alcohol to the water phase. Your machine makes that possible. If you were to hand mix this, then you would add the cetearyl alcohol to the oil phase and added the glycerin and xanthan gum to the water phase?

    • @hollydavis06
      @hollydavis06 4 года назад

      That’s how I did it. It turned out perfect :)

    • @hollydavis06
      @hollydavis06 4 года назад +2

      shazy l I am not exactly certain about Belinda’s percentages, but in mine, I used 10% cetearyl alc and 15% of my surfactant blend...you don’t want to add the xanthan gum and humectant until the end, tho.

    • @hollydavis06
      @hollydavis06 4 года назад +4

      shazy l I use her “Create Cosmetic Formulas” formulating Ap to make up formulas...it’s pretty easy to use and I think it’s helpful for beginners. It is a bit pricey but worth it. I purchased all three...I use the skin and hair care one and the cosmetic one regularly...

      @@hollydavis06 Hi, I was going to ask you at what percent you used the cetearyl alcohol.
      Another alternative for the surfactant would be coco-glucoside and the recommended rate is 10%. Thanks Holly.

    • @hollydavis06
      @hollydavis06 4 года назад +1

      lilybaytoday I feel like since the percentage of one kinda is reliant upon the percentage/actives of the other, I think you could use the Cetearyl Alcohol at 8-10% if using your surfactant at 10% ..In my formula, the Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate brand I have on hand has a really low active matter so I went up to 15%. And though I used 10% Cetearyl Alcohol in my blend, I think if I were to make this again I think I could push that percentage up a little higher to make it even creamier. I really like coco glucoside... it’s natural and super mild-which is the goal for this formula...If you do try it and if you don’t mind, pls let me know how it works out. Thanks girl! This stuff is just so interesting..

    Can I substitute Tegosoft PC 31 with Glyceryl-3 Oleate?

    • @everflow5168
      @everflow5168 4 года назад +1

      Polyglyceryl-3 Oleate (I guess you mean this) has a lower HLB-Value. You can use it as a superfatting material but it will decrease the viscosity of the final product. If you want to use it I would recommend to use a much lower percentage. Also it wil be more "conditioning".

      @@jcnyvall1136 Normally refatting agents are used in small percentages like 0,5 to 1%. But of course in special formlations 2% might also be ok. I never used PG-3 Oleate in a surfactant. I can just tell you that Tegeosoft PC 31 (PG-3 Caprate) is totally different. It is something between surfactant und superfatting agent, also it can thicken your formulation. But as Belinda wrote, it's depends on your exact situation. 😄
