Hi pastor , I'm form Trinidad, I have been listen your preaching, abdominal I'm truly blessed, I truly admire the work you are doing for God. Be encouraged, May God keep you in the way he is leading you, I like your firms of truth, your firmness for revenge of God in His presents. God grant you long live to do His work.
The righteousness of Christ is not the same as the rihhteousness of the law. The righteousness of the law is self righteousness. The righteousness of Christ is given to the believer as a gift. The righteousness of the scribes is the righteousness of the Law which they accuse Jesus of breaking. To exceed the righteousness of the scribes you have to have the righteousness that comes by faith which is the righteousness of Abraham.
The righteousness of the law says "all what God says we will do" (old covenant doing the law without God) The righteousness of God says "I will dwell in you, you are My sanctuary" (righteousness by faith, the grace and the Holly Spirit dwells in me - the new covenant).
Jesus is the light of the world not the Law. The Law did not give us the light of the kingdom. It gave us us condemnation for walking in darkness. Jesus is the true light that lights every man that comes into. the world. If then the Law was not the light of the kingdom of light then the light spoken of by Jesus brought the light of grace and truth. For the light of the law came by Moses and it was not the law of the kingdom. The light that shines in our hearts is grace and truth that brings us into the knowledge of God. And this is the light that changed our life. Not the law.
The use of the word 'extreme' here is somewhat unfortunate. Yes some aspects of the Christians lifestyle maybe viewed by non-Christians as 'extreme'. That is because of the deception of sin. Preachers should be more careful with words and their connotations. He maybe encouraging the very thing Christ chastised the Pharisees for. We are called to be Christlike, walking as he walked, by faith in His righteousness, not any we think we have. Jesus rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for attitudes of prideful works-salvation and obsessive rule-making. The point Jesus was making in Matthew 5 was that legalism or excessive attention to our works for salvation or adding to the commandments of God by our traditions and even seemingly good deeds, is not counted by God as righteousness. He magnified the law and pointed to the motives of the heart in pursuing obedience. We are saved by grace through faith not of works lest any should boast. Eph 2:8. That's how you exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees. Are we being different to be counted righteous by God or are we being peculiar through a heart of faith motivating us to obey God's will in love? Will we be saved by keeping the commandments to the letter of the law or through faith in Christ's righteousness? Remember the rich young ruler. Agreed we must impact the world but beware of 'lifestyle' extremes that may detract from the essence/central theme of the gospel, the saving grace of Jesus. eg. a certain group believes the dress must almost touch the ankle , you must wear a hat to serve in church, only vegetarians will be saved etc etc .
@Anthony Patterson... God gives everyone intuition, and if we are led by the Holy Spirit we will have the right focus. Let's pray that our eyes will be made open and we will be able to make it home. We need to carry the torch in our conduct and deportment and be the LIGHT of the world.

Amin, and the grace and the Holy Spirit in us fullfill the law.
Please read Matthew 8. Freez on verses 11 and 12. We better wake up and surrender our WILL to God.
