Today I’m finally going to share some of my destash pile! I’ve been meaning to do a destash video for a while but kept putting it off because of how tedious it is to actually destash lol but these polishes were taking up valuable space in my helmers! so I’m hoping they can be rehomed. There’s even some extras I ended up adding bc I changed my mind about keeping them at the last minute, sorry I didn’t talk abot them in this video 🤪

You will feel so much better once you destash them! I started my "Indie" journey with Holo Taco when Cristine launched Holo Taco in 2019. I felt too much of a loyalty and felt as I would be betraying her if I didn't get all her polish and I also had major FOMO. I had everything she released until the Cookies and Creme launch. I was going through my swatch sticks and pulled every color that I wasn't in love with and a lot of Holo Taco colors. I decided that I was going to stop letting FOMO get me and that it doesn't matter if I have all the shades she releases because I won't love them all and I don't want to spend the money on polishes I will never wear. I have made some extra cash destashing many polishes!
Aw yeah I think a lot of people can unfortunately relate to your story 😓 I’m sorry you were stuck in that FOMO cycle for years, but cheers for breaking free of it!! We all have our limits with storage and sooner or later we really need to decide what’s worth buying/keeping.
I feel so much better already, I spent most of yesterday packing up polishes to drop off tomorrow and feel like a weight has been lifted, my destash pile was getting unsightly!! So seeing it get smaller is so relieving 🙏🏼
I've noticed the same thing, I feel like because of her following prior to HT a lot of people buy HT just because it's HT, not because they like the polishes. I see so many people who own only HT polishes, and I haven't seen that with other brands. I've felt the same pressure to buy everything from HT, so good for you for being aware and doing what's best for you!
I feel this so hard 😅 I have a bit of a Holotaco addiction as well. And it hit me like a truck during the same time you skipped a collection. Cookies and cremes. I almost bought it but stopped myself because I literally hated all but two of the polishes… that’s when i realized I have 150+ polishes and don’t even like them all?! 😅😂
We gotta normalize NOT buying everything just because “well I have to buy the whole set!” 😅
@@cheyenne21577 I definitely have Full Set Syndrome and I strongly prefer buying bundles if they save me money overall 😅. However it's a better use of my limited space and budget to only have polishes I 100% love. I've been trying to destash at least 1 polish for each new one I purchase....that's getting more challenging as I curate my collection over time!!

yeah I’m definitely more limited on space than if i had a separate/proper office lol but even then i think i would be overwhelmed by having “too many” 🙈 but yayy ^^
Mad Hatter is one of my favourite polishes in my collection. Haha. Glad to see you’ve found a way to destash and still do comparisons.

Glad you are destashing, I struggle with this aspect of collecting polishes💅🏻 I actually liked this video and need to go through my HT because I’m out of room in my storage for them. It’s just soooo hard!!!😢
yess collecting and even organizing are its own hobbies within this hobby lol! i know its so hard though, I hope you’ll be able to part with some of them to make room !
I’m going to work more on destashing after my move next month! I’m swatching my collection on swatch sticks as I pack, and I think having those for easy comparisons will help me with getting rid of some that are dupes (or close). I love collecting and organizing/cataloging as much as wearing my stash, but I know I have some that aren’t adding value or joy for me. I’m looking forward to tracking those down and hopefully passing them along to someone who will love/use them.
oh that’s so smart!! yes definitely will be easy to sort thru them and find dupes. that’s so true that organizing alone is such a fun aspect of this hobby lol 🙈 i hope you’ll be able to pass along some polishes too! someone else will always appreciate them :)

I love that you sell your old polishes. Such a good way to reduce waste and make polishes more affordable. 😊 I would totally buy some of the Olive Ave polishes you listed on your insta, but I just did a big nail polish haul! 😅😭 Next time! 😊

No not the ILNP sweet collection! We all have our preferences though I get it ❤ I love the speckled ILNP polishes

Also Facebook destashes are really easy for both sellers and buyers! NNR is one of them that is one that is popular!

I'm doing the opposite - trying to resist destashing! To avoid buying too much I'm trying to stick to, my Summer case has X spaces left so I can only buy that many before stopping & I have to use one up to get a space back. It's so hard to resist though! With a huge collection though destashing must be very cleansing ✨

I love that idea!! I know a lot of others also do a 1 in 1 out kind of system which seems really helpful too! But yes I think for the amount I have it just makes sense to destash every few months or something 🙈

I can’t imagine how difficult is destashing is. This is inspiring too, because I have shades in my collections I have regretted. You have an idea about what to do to get rid of them.
It was so tough!! Ideally would love to keep everything from these brands especially but it’s just not realistic 😔 but yess hopefully you can destash some of yours too!

It is hard to destash, but I usually feel a bit of relief once done. I would’ve gotten rid of some of the same polishes. 😊

I would love if Cirque re-released the collection-that-shall-not-be-named as jellies with no added pigments - as you said, La Dolce Vita is such a lovely shade of pink
LOL yeahh they really messed up by using the “holo” pigment!! Even compared to other silver magnetic shimmers like BAE, these fall flat 🥲 def would love to see another warm pink from them!
I loved this video and it motivates me so much to continue to weigh new purchases carefully and after all allowing my collection to be organic and shift over the years in preferences. Your swatches pf of Mooncat Millenia or Millenium just gave me an idea to try with a black sheer magnetic I own. I want to try it over a crazy iridescent Flakie Topper 🤔
i’d be so interested to know what polishes you consider destashing! it really can be so hard to decide sometimes, especially when it was something we did love at one point 🥲 and ooo that sounds so interesting!! i can’t wait to see that combo 🤩

In case you get round to see my reply: in my humble opinion we would make perfect polish swap buddies if I‘d live in the US since the majority of my destash polishes are dainty fairy pinks which are pretty but just not for me (I got them all through a subscription to For The Love of Polish Box and no, I haven‘t unsubscribed because I loved all boxes except those pinks). And I love dark multichromes. I destashed my Mooncat polishes and the KB Shimmer Reflective Glitter polishes
I started down the indie rabbit hole with Holo Taco. I quickly realized that I strategy was required so i instituted a 1-in, 1-out because i refuse to house more than the 300ish polishes that fit on my door rack.
I am in the same boat…started with holo taco, and then found cirque, ILNP, mooncat…and now I have too many and also only have space for 300!! I need to destash-but I don’t know how I’ll begin as I have hoarder tendencies 😢
Omg yes I know a lot of people do a 1 in 1 out method!! I’m so glad that’s been helpful for you since you already decided your limit is what fits on your door rack! Realistically 300 polishes should be more than enough lol
@heatherfeathie maybe you can start with ILNP since they’re readily available! I can understand it being harder getting rid of LE/more expensive polishes from the other brands for example.
Another method I’ve wanted to try is by taking out all same color polishes, and then deciding from there what’s worth keeping- maybe that could work for you too?

I desperately want and need to destash; I have so many impulse and FOMO purchases that I just ended up not loving and never wear 🙃 I wish it was easier to destash for us people not in the US, the market is so much smaller and shipping is expensive that people are rarely interested unless it's like a rare or highly sought after polish... 😮💨 Also unrelated but I'm still salty that Cirque changed the formula of the facets collection and that the holo flakes ended up being way smaller before they ended up discontinuing altogether. I have Peridot and Pink Diamond and the flakes in pink diamond are so much bigger and prettier, I was expecting peridot to be the same and I honestly don't wear it as often as I would have 😢 (i guess i could always get a larger holo flakie topper to mix with it)
Ahh yeah I’ve only seen mentions of international destashes on Reddit! Maybe it’s worth checking on there? I imagine there might be some groups on Facebook too 🤞🏼
And omg yeah the Facets change was so sad!! The originals were gorgeous and while the new version is still sparkly, it’s just not the sameeee. Yeah i guess it can be solved by adding a Flakie holo on top but I wonder if that would almost make it too busy? I’ve never tried it so idk 😝
I was super obsessed with the Cirque Facets polishes but over time they’ve gotten so thick and lumpy, I have to put thinner in and they still aren’t as good as they used to be. And the Bubbly collection was so disappointing!!!

I have a massive massive massive nail polish collection. I have gone through a few boxes so far and so many have changed, and faded over the years. Hurts my heart because majority of it have been Noodles glitter crellies..it's just time to go. It feels good to destash but find it incredibly overwhelming too.

Aw I’m so sorry a lot of yours have faded or changed!! Even my old noodles are still in good condition, the only ones for me that got ruined were the foily metallics 😖

Flying Submarine, Magic Mushroom and Best Bud are in high demand on destashes going for big money. I’m getting ready to part with Raaawr. I’d like to keep it, but I’m moving. I need the money and the space.

i would say not really! when brands send PR its supposed to be for your consideration only, like you’re not expected to share but its always nice if you do. sometimes i might not end up liking something, or I just have something similar already so I would try gifting it to a friend first, but if no one is interested then I’ll sell haha

i have an instagram page and a mercari account where i list my polishes! you could try calling local women’s shelters or churches to see if they accept donations, the ones around me unfortunately wouldn’t take any opened/used products so i have to sell online.

Oof yeah I know that can be extra hard to part with!! 😓 maybe you can start with taking out specific colors or finishes vs trying to get rid of whole collections? Starting small will at least get the ball rolling!

This made me go check my bottle of Juliette and mine was tarnished also 😢 Mine was also super old, it used to be one of my favorite polishes.
Aw I’m so sorry!! It seems common with this metallic flake formula, similar to Holo Taco’s foiled metallics 😢 I definitely wish I wore Juliette more often!
