Make It Simple Book - Safiya Trousers
Billie Jumper
I love my projector. Absolute game changer. I use project and cut which makes calibrating your patterns so easy. You can try it out for free. I don’t stitch patterns together, just use projector patterns that companies provide.
I love mine. So easy. I just wish more companies did projector friendly files as the a0 can be a bit hard to see or move around without the wide edges. I’ll try project and cut!
Great thank you for the tip - can’t wait to get started 😊
I’ve been searching for my “Make It Simple” book for the last week. I had recently received it and I’m tired of looking for it. 😂 I’ve decided that I must have left it at the hospital last week when I went for an MRI, so I’m going to pull the plug and order another one.
Today I’m working on my first Atelier Jupe pattern…the Zoey Blouse. It’s coming along nicely. 😘
I’m often envious of the fabrics you get in the UK. I always love seeing the beautiful garments you make!
Awe no 🥲
I love the look of that Jumper dress from Peppermint magazine, I do love a raglan sleeve. ❤Fantastic plans😊
It’s a really nice easy make
I have just made the Safiya trousers and used interfacing across the front flat waistband section to prevent it folding over. That pink and black print is gorgeous. You have inspired me to make a top out of my Judy dress pattern - hadn’t thought about it even though I love my dress. Projector files - you are brave!!!! Good Luck - if anyone can make it work you will. Happy Sewing to you too 😊. Lynne
Hope the top works well for you lynne x
Thank you Alison when you are settled with the projector would you be able to do a tutorial please as I would love to know more. I love the way you embrace the bold and have fun with your dress making. You look great in everything. xx
I will- might be a while until I’m proficient though
Loving those trousers with the hot pink fabric for a top! Judy top is stunning too 🤩
Thanks Julie x
Such a beautiful dress! Cool black and pink print!
Thanks
It will be so interesting to hear how you get on with the projector, anything that stops us having a stack of paper patterns to store would be great to learn about 🥰
I hope so too even if it’s only 1/2 the patterns and you can trace the projection if you want too - I sound like I know what I’m talking about 😂
@@SewLikeDottyI trace patterns of I think I might need to make alterations or of the lines don’t show up well on the fabric.
Thank you Alison, giving me more incentive and confidence to make my costumes. Had the fabrics for over a year! Also could you do RUclips on cover stitch machine, please? I am looking into buying one!
Go for it Grace. Yes I was thinking of that might be a couple of weeks x
i’m very interested in the projector files can’t wait to see yours.
Will probably have a headache while I figure it out 😂
I think those trouser are amazing especially with a pink top, and the fossil fabric will look great in the pattern you've chosen , both will be great for holidays
thank you 😊
Oh you are brave Alison love the trousers and the hot pink fabric for your topxx
Thanks Colette 😊
you have inspired me to make the Safiya trousers ... thank you.. Yours are beautiful .
Oooo fab hope they go well 😊
Lots of plans for your holiday and I love your floral rousers, especially with that pink jersey fabric. I look forward to seeing your projector progress. I have been considering one for a while.
Thank you so much- will be keeping you all updated on progress x
Hello Allison. I’m sorry I forgot to say if I can Overlock just the ends before washing the fabric or every side. Have a great holiday from downunder
Hi just the ends before washing. The selveedges don’t need it x
My legs rarely see the light of day, Alison. They resemble an AA route map, although mostly thread veins. I hate them! I own a single pair of shorts (True Bias Lander pattern) worn exclusively in my back garden for fence painting. Whoever invented leggings is my hero. I can manage cropped ones in the summer under a skirt. I'm considering a light frothy version of my favourite McCalls 7022.
I agree Liz thank goodness for leggings
Lovely vlog Alison I bet you can’t wait to get on that plane 🤗
Love your Safiya trousers the fabric is beautiful . 🥰
Can wait counting the days
Love that blue and white ammonite fabric! Unfortunately for the size of my stash, Lamazi Fabrics have loads left. Think I will make an Estelle dress with mine.
Sounds great 😊
I bought a ST Epson from eBay a few weeks ago. It is a learning curve as you say but that's only because we're used to paper patterns. I love it and have downloaded two projector files from Pattern Emporium so far. Have fun on your hols and then fun with the projector. 😊
Thanks for sharing it sounds like you’re doing well with your projector I will be needing all the tips 😊
@@SewLikeDotty The 'pan' tool on Adobe Reader is useful. It's a hand icon in the drop down bit where the arrow is in tools on the left. I have adobe on my laptop as adobe reader does the layers there but not on the iPad. I can also screen mirror from the iPad with the free Epson app.
Love your makes! I’ve got a projector (it’s on the ceiling not sort throw). You can use A0 patterns on it and they work but aren’t as good as the proper projector files. I haven’t bothered with software yet other than adobe. Worth checking your calibration is right every time as I’ve had some times when it needs a different % zoom than others. I’m over in your Facebook group so I’ll let you know tips over there if I think of anything. Pattern Emporium and Sinclair I know are good for projector files and Ellie and Mac.
Oh thank you that’s great - going to get one after my hols can’t wait to play
A few vlogs ago you mentioned if we had a question you would answer it. My question is can you Overlocker the just the ends or must all around the fabric. Thank you from down under.
Yes and yes. So you can use it to finish edges on single fabric layers or to join to layers together
If I’m doing a new pattern I find it better to overlock the edges of side seams and shoulders before joining bothered for a dress/top or leg seams then stitch together on my sewing machine - it’s easier to make alterations and adjustments
Once I’m happy then the next time I would overlock together and depending on the fabric also sew it
Hope that helps
xxX👍👍👍
What are projector files? New to me
You project the pattern on to your fabric instead of using a paper pattern
I think you are going to need to take care with the fabric placement of your blue fabric.
Good point
