Thank you Thank you Thank you. We read each and every comment that all of you guys took the time to write. We learned some really great tips like make sure our hair is fully detangled before starting. We learned that our type of curl pattern is definitely hard to fight against trying to recreate another pattern type. We saw the tip that we may have better success if we blowdried our hair straight first and then attempted a Braid Out. We very much enjoyed all of the feedback and are taking all of these fabulous tips for our next attempt at this...... when and if we attempt this again. 🤣🤣🤣 Our MA.D.CURLS Fam is great. We appreciate you guys being a part of the conversation. The comment section should be read by anyone who is interested in perfecting their Braid Outs! Y’all are the G.O.A.T 😘🤓🦁💕➰

If you want more defined curls do it on wet hair and if you want more stretched curls then it on dry hair

  • @aristar84

You guys did a braid out on wet hair - braided the hair that was wet/damp, whether from washing or just spraying water on it. Braid out on dry hair - just applying your product directly onto dry hair. Rollers/curl rods or at least twisting the ends is good to do. You guys did a great job! Hair looks fantastic! Damp hair allows the hair to dry quicker. Plus the hair product will "wet" the hair to an extent. Also, doing braid out a few hours before you go to bed helps to ensure they dry. Use a hair dryer if there is still a damp area after you take down the hair. Definitely part your hair where you like. The "more real estate" - flat twist, cornrow will take care of that or you can do more braids. For me, braid outs last a day, frizz fast and I feel it takes longer to do than twists, so I rarely do them unless I want to elongate my hair. Use a pick or fingers at the roots for volume. Depending on the humidity and as the day goes on, the hair usually gets bigger. So you don't have to separate and don't play in the hair too much . Biggest thing too, is not using water to refresh because the hair will start to revert. Even leave-in conditioner spray - just a little if you must. I stick with oil, pomade, light moisturizer/buttercream. Overall, it's a great look if you don't mind "poofy" hair.

You both did a great job
    Improvements
    1. Less water
    2. Towards the ends, turn the braids into 2 strand twist
    3. Roll the rollers up higher or all the way up
    4. You can use Bantu knots and CurlFormers
    5. Don’t take hair from other sections

TaylorAnne to achieve a neat braid out definition , it is best to detangle like LoriAnne does, it smooth your curls with a brush or comb..otherwise you keep your curls ... also unravel on completely dry hair... you seem to do fine LoriAnne ( i am commenting while I am watching you ☺️)...

For your hair it should be damp. Use gels for hold and moisturizer under it. When you refresh don't use any liquid. Use like a butter or another moisturizer to it bring back to life. It undefines your hair and create frizz.
Your hair won't last 3 or 4 days because your natural curl pattern will fight to get through with water based refreshers. Also don't take down your twists or braids until it is completely dry which could be hours or days depending on the person.
Twist the ends when you run out of hair. It will leave a nice curl and won't leave your ends pointy.
At least this is what works for me. I do braidouts and twistouts all the time.😊😁
    Hope it helps!!!!

Try the almond jai twisting butter next time. Don't borrow from another section, it increases frizz. And I really do like it on you two. Lori seemed to have had it down a little better to me. You guys will get it. I never liked them on me though

I liked it. Especially Louanne's. Baby girl braid CLOSER to your roots. But before you took it out, I liked it, it looked LOCKED. I liked it AFTER too now (don't get it twisted) but it looked like you were wearing LOCKS. I think Louanne's THICKNESS was made for the braid outs & twist outs (smaller braids may get better results). Remember you have 'trained' your hair to stay in it's NATURAL curl patterns so it will RESIST anything else. And ladies, FRIZZ is a part of the journey just like SHRINKAGE, what you don't want is TOO MUCH FRIZZ! To me, a little frizz in 2s & 3s says "No this is NOT a wig, it's my natural hair, and I have to worry about FRIZZ just like you!" Good video, Way to Branch Out!

I made it! I think you guys did a great job! Both looked cute and you could definitely tell that it wasn't just a wash and go. Tip: if you want the pattern to be more distinct with less of your curl, you may have to stretch your hair prior to braiding. Then braid on dry hair (don't wet it with water). I know y'all don't watch too many natural hair vloggers, but @Naptural85 is like the queen of braid outs. Maybe you can check out one of her braidout videos :) P.S. She has a cornrow tutorial, too.

I do braid out sometimes; so you don’t want to take pieces from different sections , it causes confusion when you’re trying to take it down and it causes frizz

I think you guys achieved really REALLY good results from your first "real" attempt at this braid-out. I definitely think you guys should try to more because your hair looks MUCH fuller than it usually looks, it looks healthier, softer, and it doesn't look dry at all. Great job guys!

I MADE IT. Not only did I make it, i started to attempt to braid ( im a member of that 5% lol) my hair as well while watching you guys. 😂😂😂😂 I tried the Pantene Gold series last night, and it has my hair looking all kinds of crazy. I didn't want to wash my hair two days in a row so, I'll see how the braid out looks in the morning and depending on the end result I might hold off on washing these products off an extra day. 😬

I loved your braid outs! I would love to see you do a twist out. Your hair is coily, and the braid out interrupts the natural curl pattern of your hair. A twist out will go with the flow of your natural curl pattern, giving you a defined curlier look.

  • @karenreeves1240

The results for you both look great. I am part of the 6% who can't corn row! I have had corn rows and my hair braided in the past, but I did not do it myself. I can do simple braiding. Many years ago I used to braid my hair and put those horrible pink sponge curlers on the end of the braid. Got good results. Good job ladies.

If you leave the braids or twists in for 2 or 3 days you get more definition and you can wear it for about 2-4 days after taking it down.

That's one of the things I love about your channel not to mention that y'all keep me laughing...I didn't see any of the women in Black Panther putting product on their hair!

😂TaylorAnne, i have seen videos too when they say to leave the braids for two or three days. Never done that. I do my braid early enough so it's s completely dry in dry in the morning. I don t put á bonnet on my head because I sleep with a satin pillow case. No need to walk around with the flexyrods. UNRAVELING TIME YEAYH !! 🙏🏾 I LOVE the result !!! LoriAnne it brings you length and sophistication. Please keep doing braid outs ! With braid out you unravel pick and don t touch your hair otherwise it s going to be frizzy . Also I don t do braid out with product with glycerin. I personnally would have use the Almond Jai or Mane Choice 24k but to each its preference. Please watch Mo KnowsHair... TaylorAnne i think it s best to brush and style on damp and not wet hair, it will help you to keep your style. Braids suits you can wait two days before unraveling if you feel it would work better (no perm rods if you go outside though ☺️) Once you have unraveled you separate a little , pick and leave your hair alone 😂 My first attempt wasn t as good as yours ! You ladies rock it no matter what !! 💕💕👍🏾🙏🏾

I made it! You guys did a great job! I know you guys have trouble making it last more than a day, so quick tip: rebraid your hair at night but make it lose braids or you could make bigger sections for rebraiding. If you like to rough it up throughout the day add a tiny bit more product but no water before rebraiding. I also highly suggest not touching your hair after a braid out. With any braided style or twisted one always use either a scarf and bonnet or loc soc/slap cap and satin pillow case. The idea behind it is to lessen the friction between the braids/twists as you sleep, so you get less frizz. Hope this helps and I am glad you guys are expanding your horizons.

I love the braid out on you ladies. I use As I Am to flat twist my hair. I use a Denmann brush on wet hair to make my hair as straight as possible and perm rods to secure my ends to keep them curly after my hair dries. I keep my hair under a silk scarf and sleep on a satin pillow case for two days. I don't untwist too much. My twist out last for a week if I don't mess with it too much.

I made it! Ladies your hair came out good! Tayloranne I was really able to see the braid definition on your hair... looked really good! I'm not an expert but yea the more you touch and pull and tug and fluff the faster it will frizz and poof into an Afro. I can never get more than a day from a twist out... I retwist every night. Camille Rose Honey hydrate and almond Jai twisting butter are amazing together for my twist out on 4A/4B hair. Love seeing you guys test products!

I recommend twist outs for you ladies for two reasons! They take waaaaayyyy less time to dry, since the braids really lock your strands together, and twist are more loose, air is able to flow through the strands easier. Secondly, I've noticed that braid outs mimick or enhance curl patterns that already have a zig zag shape. I have a spiral shape, and you ladies do as well, which the twist will enhance. I hope that makes sense lol great video!

I made it!!! Great video. Keep it up and you will get even better. I think it's great for your first time. I usually detangle it sections with a brush before braiding cause I want my curl pattern to look different. And use gel. Don't do braid outs that often cause it doesn't last that long. Like 3 days. Twist outs forget it. Those are always fails for me. I get more days with a wash n go. I'm a lazy natural. And you're not alone, I can't cornrow also.

I made it! I do mine the same way you do Taylor with rods on the end. I prefer a twist and curl, but only twisting half way then curling the rest, because braid outs and twist outs are always a fail for me. I can’t do any of the flat braiding or twisting. I was able to French braid on dolls when I was younger, but I haven’t done it in years. So I’m in the percentage too 😂

Sorry late to the party, but I made it! Few suggestions: try a regular two strand twist out. It will give you more of a wave, than a tighter curl. Also I'm surprised you didn't use gel. It will give you more hold. And next time do it live, so we can critique and coach you on what to do. Other than that, good job. LoriAnne, I love your results. Tay, I was wishing to get into your hair so I can do cornrows and flat twists. It took me a lot of practice before I learned how to do it.

Great results, LoriAnne you did right by combing the hair to smooth it before braiding. When I do a braid out I use my detangling brush to get my hair very smoothed out before braiding. Also it helps to keep your braids in a few days for maximum definition. 🌊➰💕

Next time you can use gel or setting foam for hold on damp hair to avoid frizz and moisten as need.If you are going to use perm rods on end, apply gel to the ends and flaten the ends with the gel and smooth the ends around the perm rod, once again adding water as need...job well done!!

O.K. First you ladies don't need those perm or flexi rods on your ends because your hair is already naturally curly. People that have straight or very kinky hair that want to have curly hair have to do that. You don't. I don't think our hair was never made for relaxers or perms. I only used the perm rods to curl my ends when I used to do a inverted twist set when my hair was relaxed years ago.
Whenever I do a twist set now it just leaves my hair more uniformed. I usually sit underneath my hairdryer to dry them for the most part. Both of you have beautiful hair. It really came out nice. I made it! YAY!

When I don’t want to wash my hair I retwist my hair. Not a big fan of the braid look. I put some leave in my spray bottle to help with the detangling process. I don’t really add another product in my hair because I already have a lot of product in my hair and with to much product it ways my hair down and my hair starts to flake up. Also I have to make sure my hair is detangled and smoothed out just like Lorianna is doing. Also I rake my fingers through to separate the hair to start the braid and to give me even pieces. I do at least 6 or 7 twist or braids on each side. I used to use rollers at my ends when I was transitioning. I have to make sure my hair is COMPLETELY DRY with any style. I put some Bobbie pins at the roots to hold down my roots down an tie my hair down with a stain scarf. Sometimes I get lazy and leave them in for a day or 2 and rock my hair in a low bun. Sorry for it being so long hopefully these helps.

I think it looks beautiful!! Nice job guys I think it would last longer if you guys let it naturally get bigger as the days go on because with curly hair the more you keep touching and moving it around after setting it in a style the more it's going to frizz up and revert back to your natural curl pattern no matter the texture I know it's a habit a lot of us have to wanna keep touching and moving our beautiful curls around but leaving it alone and letting it do its thing will help maintain that curl definition while still getting big hair is the key with a lot of styles such as twist, braid outs and ect. You guys will master the braid out like you have wash n gos and by the way congrats on the 10k were all glad to see your channel flourishing!! ✊🏾✊🏾

I made it lol I think you two did a great job. I think if having wet hair days after styling is a big concern, you can try applying the product to hair that is damp to dry. I think LoriAnne was right to comb out her hair because I think it disrupts the natural curl pattern. I noticed when I rake and smooth product in my hair my curl pattern peeks through regardless of what set style I'm wearing, but when I comb it with a wide tooth comb, it takes the pattern of the style instead. Interestingly, TaylorAnne had a wavy look without a detangling tool so I guess it also depends on how tight your braid is. A while ago I heard someone say that twist outs and braid outs seem to hold better on tighter and textured hair whereas wash n gos are more of a "go to" for looser curl patterns. Anyone can style their hair however they want, but maybe the longevity of the style does depend on the curl pattern and texture. Anyhow, this was a fun video to watch :)

I made it. Love your results. I can't make manipulated styles work for me either. Twist outs never work. And braid outs only last one day. I have 4a/3c hair so I thought manipulated styles would be easier than wash and goes based on what people say. No, ma'am. Not for me. I've tried wet, damp, and dry braiding (Wet has the least amount of frizz). I've tried different strengths of gel (strong gels prevent a lot of the frizzing but can make my hair irreversibly flat and thin). I've tried not borrowing from the other strands when braiding down to prevent frizz. Etc. Etc. And the problem always starts to happen when separating. It either separates but doesn't volumize or starts to frizz and lose shine. I'll be scrolling through these comments looking for tips too.

Both of your hair looks awesome Tay your curls look a little shorter bon length and if you trimmed it that wouldn't look do bad .

My used to press my hair, Plat it and then put brown paper bag strips on the ends to create the "wavy and curly" look

This put a smile on my face after my hair and body butter didn't come in the mail. Good first try 🤗 I might do a braidout too. I'm interested in doing protective styling since I have more inches

I made it..yay 🙌🙌🙌🙌 they came out fantastic... Taylor your hair is so pretty like that... I did a twist out and I got 24 hours with it...😳😳😂😂😂 the only thing that makes it last a few days is when I add gel.... If I don't use gel, by the next day I look like a q-tip. 😳😂😂😂 it came out great ladies...🔥🔥👑👑

#IMADEIT. Your braid outs came out soooo cute, ladies💯👍. I bet you The Mane Choice’s Ancient Egyptian Leave-In Lotion along with the 24K Twisting Gel would leave you both with GORGEOUS braid out results. Thanks 🙏 for the video.

Hi M.A.D. Curls! Yeah it seems you were not too thrilled with the outcome. But thanks for sharing! ☺️ My experience with braid outs, well I guess I never did braid my hair I did two strand twist, which was much easier to me. But the pattern would last if after washing / twist / then let my hair completely dry bf taking down twists.. So sometimes I would leave twisted for a day or two. Then to refresh I would re- twist at night bf bed using a moisturizing cream. I prefer the wash and go, I get better results and style looks better and my hair seemed to grow faster🤔
