You literally skipped the part where you remove the spare from the the holder it comes down in. Fml as i sit in Philadelphia trying to find a video that teaches this at 3:42 AM!!! 😩😩😩
From what I have seen online Cooper S is supposedly the only model that does not have one. Look under the car, you'll be able to tell immediately if it has one.

It's underneath in a clamshell type of arrangement. Lower it from the trunk but not easy!

Only the 5 door Mini has a spare, I have three Mini's a Cooper S, Mini Paceman S ALL4 and a Cooper convertible and none of them have a spare tire.
I have a 2015 non S 2 door. I think the S cars have run flats as standard, so there is not a spare on those models. For my non S, there is a spare.
