This is a great idea. However, I would create a clear pocket plexiglass in the front of each file cabinet door to display each of my favorites. To do this I would take off the handles and drill new holes lower on the file door to make room for the plexiglass pocket frames. After that maybe paint all the cabinets a uniform color or any color. I think your collection would look cleaner that way.
Lateral cabinets have a depth of 18' while the vertical ones can be up to 28'. Get a few of those and u get more storage space for the same wall space taken up.
What organizers do you use? I just got a filing cabinet and the organizers i used in my short boxes are just barely too tall to close nicely under the doors
I had the same issue. Originally I was cutting them to size. Now I use regular size backing boards with the name of the series spanning across the top.

Wish I saw this before the warehouse I worked at closed their doors, I could’ve gotten 3-4 filling cabinets for free.

I love this idea. I cut cardboard from dollar store but this is way better.
I've really liked it! I will say, one of my cabinets I had to shave the box down a little because it was hanging when I opened / closed a drawer!
If you are going to take up as much space as he has with his cabinets, consider lateral instead of legal size. You will be able to fit more comics.

Just use the old boxes that you don’t need anymore. Cut them to size
