This is heart wrenching. Only other time I cried when an athlete died was when Oscar Taveras passed away (I'm a Cardinals fan). My wife woke me up Sunday to the news that Jose passed away because she knew I'm a big fan of his. I had to fight back tears. That whole morning was so unreal to me. This video brought me to tears and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Jose was so full of life and a genuine human being. Not to mention he was a one in a million talent. Anytime I watched him pitch, it was like a privilege. I knew I was watching greatness. Still can't believe he's gone. RIP Jose Fernandez. You will forever have a special place in the heart of this Cardinals fan, and I'm sure with the rest of Cardinals nation as well.

Coming from a Dodgers fan. I really gotta say I got mad respect for Fernandez #16 to begin with. Making the sacrifice to leave his family for a better and successful future was a hard decision to make. Glad he realized his talent at a young age. It takes a real man like Fernandez #16 to not only make such unthinkable decisions and huge sacrifices but most importantly to achieve them successfully with only his early childhood as support and the memories as mental strength. This is extremely tragic, sad and heartbreaking, I still can't believe he's gone, but he'll never been forgotten! I was sad when I heard he was going to be out for the entire season last season and that he had to have Tommy John surgery, and then he came back this season in 2016 and was doing good, but now he's gone, so sad, he had such a bright future ahead of himself, and the world will miss him greatly! This is the second young Baseball player who has died at a young age, who had a very bright future ahead of them and died from an accident, because Oscar Taveras died in 2014 of October from a car accident where him and his girlfriend had died in Taveras' home country, and he was only 21, and now Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident along with 2 of his friends, he was only 24! He was such a good kid, he had a good attitude, he was a good player and teammate, and he was a family man who loved his family, especially his Grandmother, but what's even more sad, is that Jose has a baby on the way, and now he'll never have a chance to see him/her be born, he will never have the chance to hold his baby and tell him/her how much he loves her, and I just can't imagine how much pain his family is going through, especially his Grandmother and Mother. I can't even imagine how hurt his girlfriend is, I know that she has to be devastated, and I send my deepest sympathy and condolences to his family. You will always be missed Jose, but you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. R.I.P. JOSE FERNANDEZ 1992 to 2016. 😢🌻🌼🍀⚾⛪
And let's not forget about Oscar Taveras, I still can't believe he's gone, and it's already been 2 and a half years, and he is greatly missed! R.I.P. OSCAR TAVERAS Passed away on October of 2014. 😢🌻🌼🍀⚾⛪
